@@ccommissarr midir is apparently an exception for whatever reason. They (gwyn I believe) found him as a baby and raised him to defend the Ringed City. Dark Souls 3 lore is so stupid, it completely overlooks what was established in DS1, the Ringed Knight armor especially. People who have never played DS1 have come up with the stupid idea that Gwyn is the one that created the dark soul or that he is the one who made the undead curse. Sorry for the rant, had a lot to say on this matter.
Midir is corrupted by the abyss. I forget the dialogue the lady says behind the locked door in the ringed city but she explains it and later we fight her after defeating Gael. She was angry when we fight her xD
Shira first asks the Champion of Ash to kill Midir because of both them claiming to serve Gwyn and Midir being corrupted by the Abyss he kept fighting (Darkeater), though she was willing to help. She then inducts the Champion into the Spears, with the request that they don't interfere with whatever Filianore was doing (up for interpretation). You can fight her before Gael if you're like me and explore literally everywhere before continuing, so she's not picky about when she gets her revenge.
It could be interpreted as that, it could also be three score as in 3 knights for every dragon. Though, knowing that the Ring Knights and Slave knights were the main fighting force, your calculation seems more likely.
@@KimJungGooner Score actually equates to the number 20, such as in Lincoln's speech with the "4 score and 7 years ago" part. So OP is 100% accurate with it being 60 knights for every 1 dragon
Not only that but we should remember Ringed Knights were not the only slayers among the common troops. Imagine 20 Greatbow Silver Knights (half have swords, half spears), 20 Shira's, and 20 Ringed knights (9 Sword variant, 9 spear variant, 2 paired greatsword variant). I don't see it doing much better in a blind huddle, but assuming you placed them strategically like an actual military force I could see them downing Midir. The Silver Knights firing from the back of the arena laying down constant damage, even able to hit him in the air. Shira/those of her affiliation can abuse his electric weakness from a mid range. And of course we have the Ringed Knights laying down close ranged aggro and heavy damage.
@@KimJungGooner Not even the Silver Knights themselves fared too well against the dragons. I don't think Gough counts the Ringed Knights as really being their own. They were an entirely different, separate fighting force. Also, since Slave Knights were only undead, I think it is safe to say their order was established AFTER Gwyn sacrificed himself to the First Flame, meaning the Slave Knights couldn't have fought the dragons.
just the AI, i dont think they can make the camera like this if they are playing as the boss. not to mention when they play as the boss the player seems to be able to rotate on attacks they shouldnt be able to

Silver Knights pursue the traitorous son of Gwyn and his beloved Oni Dragon. Pontiff meant to take over the world to start an Age of Deep after escaping the painted world.

Gael isn't the ultimate form of the Abyss, he's more like the Dark of Humanity personified. Dark doesn't necessarily mean Abyss, it's just that it often gets forced into that shape by Fire.

So from what I’ve gathered from this video is that the spear ringed knights have an overhead slam that I’ve never after 3 years of playing DS3, have ever once seen until now. Good to know.

Seeing Midirs power in this fight makes me think that his attacks are all designed for dealing with numerous foes instead of one guy. The sweeping slashes and the fire breaths seem perfect for decimating an entire army. It would make sense lore wise as well, being the warrior of the gods.

Black Knights are actually pretty OP, plus they deal bonus damage against demons. I think 7-10 Black Knights can kill the Old Demon King.

the first time i saw Gael, when i wasn't as knowledgeable of the series as i am now, i thought that he looked like a bigger Abyss Watcher.

That laser at the beginning of the fight was the deciding factor, literally yeeted half of the knights.

Also probably to combat people that have summons because 1v1 Midir is pretty easy. With the addition of one person he becomes wildly unpredictable
