I've seen one that uses an extra relay. Connect to the starter and a switch that you already have, like brake light, lighter, rear window defogger. So if you connect it to the defogger, the car won't start unless you turn on the defogger first.
I had to push in the cruise control "on" button for the truck to start. That worked beautifully until a mechanic disconnected it because he didn't know what it was for.
Shorting your ecu on purpose is a bad idea. There is a time delay between shorting it and the fuse blowing. during this time your ecu can easliy be damaged costing you big $$.
Not true - when you short it before the ECU, the full current flows right through the switch to the ground. What can happen is only voltage drop for a short time till the fuse pops.
I like the one that starts and drives about 10 feet then stalls,,, restarts okay, goes 20 feet then stalls,,, sputtering a few feet again then stalls,,, they end up stuck in the middle of the road blocking traffic
What i do is when ever i drive and park in the wack places of houston, i open my fuse box and takeout fuel pump relay. Comeback i put it back in. I hardly take it to any sketchy places, but if i do...well thats what i do
I just have a switch spliced on the power wire of the fuel pump. My Del Sol with GSR has been broken into about 5 times and I still have the car. Unfortunately I had to replace my ignition lock cylinder 3 times already.
You could also set up two leads to activate a under-seat taser if one of those fuses are popped when the switch is armed. Thief treats. I hate a thief. Thanks Brian, this is a service for all folks that value hard work.
Relocate battery to trunk and just unhook the negative wire every time and also, an open main relay ground or whatever its called. Maybe also a quick-disconnect alternator positive charging wire so it dies right on the road before it gets to its final destination when stolen (itd be running on just 12v or less of battery power without alt charging batt)

So basically your installing a switch to blow a fuse. So if you dont remember to set it straight then your the one who blows the fuse. It’s better and easier just to hide the switch so they can’t find it to turn it on. No fuses to replace.
No it's basically a double kill switch. The thief will not be able to start it and he blows the fuse so the switch will no longer work. It's brilliant.
Yea. Some people just don't get the brilliance. Try to start and automatically blows fuse to ignition. So it takes you a couple blown fuses to get in the habit. Keep a handful on hand for a month or so and it'll become 2nd nature to make sure you set it to middle setting before trying to start the car
Honda thieves bring their own, lost a B16 EF that way. This way may have saved it :( May the bastards who stole it get what they deserve in the long run.

As a retired computer engineer I'm not impressed. So you're out in the middle of nowhere and you forget to flick the switch. You pop a fuse and you don't have a spare. Good luck. So simple to isolate any required circuit like the fuel pump to prevent starting without needing to replace fuses.
that is so smart to actually KILL the fuse so that the thief is gonna have a hell of a time trying to steal the car - and will draw a lot of attention in crowded areas trying to start it unsuccessfully. I am going to do this with my Q60 - thanks so much for this walkthrough!
That switch setup is so much better than mine. I just put an open to the ground wire of the fuel pump... maybe I’ll have to run something like this. Although I would have to carry extra fuses. I’ve tried starting my own car with the switch open .
Pretty cool idea actually. Make sure the switch is not somewhere you could accidentally hit or kick. You don’t wanna loose fuel pump when VTAAAAAAK is kicking in !
That's a great idea... Should put a switch that disconnect the ignition, and actually switch to the horn... Everytime they turn the key, all the car does is honk very loudly...
@@lmc333 do not disconnet the ignition, as it is easy to detect and bypass. Disconnect the camshaft position sensor. Engine will not start withoit it, and its almost imposible to detect in a hurry.
The easiest way that I do without any modifications is to pop out the fuel pump fuse. No kill switch no nothing. And when when I got back I just pop in back the fuse and starts the car.

I removed the engine bay fuse box to access the 12v wire on the Starter Relay fuse. Cut it. Ran that wire through a toggle switch, no ground required. That disables power to the starter.

10 seconds to not hear the pump prime and put in a new fuse. thieves by me are even known to carry fuses, a extra ecu, and a steering wheel. all fit perfect in a backpack

Make is much more of a pain for the criminal. Add a switch in an obvious place that looks like it’s the kill switch. If the criminal switches the fake kill switch, it activates and locks on extremely loud sirens inside and outside the vehicle. Maybe you could label the fake kill switch, “Kill Switch”! That would further punish the criminal by playing mind games with them. Power the sirens with independent batteries so that disconnecting the car battery does not silence the loud sirens. The sirens draw attention to the vehicle and physically punish the criminal, if the sound is so loud inside the vehicle, so that it’s extremely painful to be inside the vehicle. The criminal will quickly run away. Just make sure that you or any of your passengers never switch the fake kill switch!
I want to install one of these in my truck, because there is a drain on the battery that I'm to cheap to fix. So with that in mind, does this completely cut off the battery from the vehicle? Edit: watched the rest of the vid and it seems to not do that
I have a friend who has come outside in the morning to find his car sitting with the driver's door open and a blown fuse three times in 5 years. It works on most everyone without a tow truck.
there is no need to even break in cars now. what thieves are doing is standing next to your car, calling a tow truck, paying the fee, and having it towed to wherever. especially in cities, the tow driver doesnt need to prove the car is the thieves.
now, if you add on top of that, the theif KNOWING the tow truck driver, forget it. piece of cake. next time you are in a major city, take note of the many tow trucks that have no business name on them. we know since these cities are ran by marxist democrats, there is no push to hunt criminals. it's literally open season.

the screws that go into it, Loctite them. They can have fun trying to unscrew Loctite screws then.

Build a relay that also activates a horn, that way someone will notice, and the battery will run out!

Look a well placed bear trap covered by a nice seat cover will do it. Instant remedy for any thievery. 👍🏾

Many libraries have access to factory service manuals and vehicle-specific repair manuals. . You should be able to get your information there.

The things you are killing power to are part of the 12 volt system, so yes.
Ideally you have a time delay,,, on the kill switch,,, this leads then to believe the car has mechanical problems
