One nitpick that I have against Black Ops 2 is when Woods says to David that he "should've smoked Hudson in 'Nam". I've always thought it sounded weird because Woods go out and helps save Hudson's life in Vietnam when he got knocked out at the beginning of the mission. The line Woods should've said was "I should've let him die in 'Nam" or "I never should've saved him in 'Nam."
Woods barely knew Hudson in Nam, that and Woods was a marine before BO1, and marines never leave anyone behind, even if they don't like them. He probably wasn't even thinking straight when talking to Section, so he wouldn't even remember that he saved Hudson's life.
Personally I think it fits because of the history of US soldiers “fragging” their higher ups that they thought were a danger to their fellow enlistees in combat. Given how long Woods and Mason spent in Nam, Woods probably considered ending Hudson a few times
I hate how Cold War made Hudson shady. My man Hudson was the unsung hero in Black Ops 1, and he’s been treated terribly ever since. The voice acting for Hudson has been in a steep decline too
@@AshyBlasianyeah Woods is definitely just projecting his own guilt onto Hudson since he was the easiest one to blame in that situation. People do that a lot irl.
When black ops 6 releases, we all know that Hudson will not get involved due to his sacrifice from Menedez. Or perhaps may get a reference about Hudson and Mason from Woods about them. Since both are unalive. Hope we get to see some more David Mason and Menedez in bo6.
I'm still not accepting Masons death as canon. In my mind, Woods knew something was up, took a shot at the prisoners leg and Mason ended up surviving as a result
I never understand why he blames Hudson for Mason's death. I mean, what could he do in that situation? His hands are pretty much tied and it's a lose lose situation anyway. Like Kravchenko said, Menendez obviously had his men on CIA and had them kidnap David and Hudson. Shouldn't he blame those traitors? Hell, shouldn't he blame himself for making their dispute this deep by losing his shit during the mission and killing Josephina, the civilian? I do like Woods but when it comes to Hudson, he becomes a total hypocrite.
It's because woods already knew something was off about the situation plus you need to understand usually Hudson knows more information than most other characters
I also think woods should have died instead of Hudson, as Hudson has a wife and kids and wasn’t paralysed, so if he lived he could of had a greater chance at then catching and stopping Menendez. But instead Woods lives and can’t do shit to Menendez because his legs were blown off.
Their beef is what adds charm to the campaign... watching their very differing ideals bounce off each other and clash despite everything is what makes them stand out and seem more human, not just following a script and always getting along hunky dory.
Woods hating Hudson after what happened in Panama really didn't make any sense to me. He clearly knows that Hudson was coerced and Hudson sacrifice his life, despite having two children of his own to save woods and David.
This is def a effect of high fov just revealing stuff the player shouldn't see, hudsons actor was prob told to do nothing in that part during Mocap since he wouldn't be in frame
They did a terrible job showcasing why Woods has issues with Hudson. Especially in BO2, apparently, it never occurred to Woods that if he did kill Hudson in N’am, then Mason would have died and Nova-6 would have started WW3.
Hudson is the Captain Price of Black ops. Only knows what’s going on from his perspective can’t trust anyone else but himself and if he had a partner who he trusted it would’ve been like Captain Price and soap duo. Sadly he was a one man team when it came to information got his name run through the dirt but the less they know the better for them. Such a well written character honestly someone you can’t like or trust but when it comes down to it will die for his men. Choose to die even if he had kids yes he told woods he has kids but changed his mind and chose to be killed cus he knows David is gonna need woods for guidance.
I still hate how they did him dirty in Cold War. I don’t care what anyone says, Cold War and BO6 are a seperate timeline that’s part of the new reboot, none of the OG cast are the same people they used to be.
My perspective on Jason Hudson in the "Call of Duty: Black Ops" series paints a nuanced picture of a character often seen through the lens of duty and sacrifice. Indeed, Hudson is portrayed as a complex figure, deeply committed to his country and comrades despite the harsh methods he sometimes employs. Here’s a more detailed breakdown of the points I want to mention: 1. **Interrogating Mason**: Hudson’s decision to interrogate Alex Mason was driven by a desperate need to prevent the catastrophic Nova 6 attacks. This difficult choice underscores his willingness to make personal sacrifices for the greater good, demonstrating his commitment to national security. 2. **Relationship with Mason**: Hudson’s care for Mason is evident despite the tough exterior. He chose to support Mason and sought to help him, reflecting his underlying compassion. His refusal to eliminate Mason, despite Weaver’s concerns, shows his belief in Mason’s potential for recovery and his inherent goodness. 3. **Emails and Concerns**: The concern Hudson shows for Mason in various communications highlights his empathetic side. These details enrich his character, showing that he wasn’t merely a cold operative but someone who valued his comrades’ well-being. 4. **Sacrifice in Black Ops II**: Hudson’s ultimate sacrifice to save Frank Woods and David Mason further cements his status as a hero. This selfless act demonstrates his unwavering loyalty and willingness to put others before himself, a hallmark of his character. 5. **Comparison to Adler**: Unlike Adler in "Black Ops Cold War," who is portrayed as more manipulative and morally ambiguous, Hudson's actions, though sometimes severe, are rooted in a clear sense of duty and honor. In summary, Jason Hudson’s character is multifaceted, embodying the traits of a dedicated and selfless hero who faced incredibly tough decisions. His legacy within the "Call of Duty" series is one of sacrifice, loyalty, and a deep commitment to his country and comrades. This man may have a cold demenour but he is not as manipulative like Adler in call of duty cold war
That’s a hard negative brother. You had Ed Harris in the original Black Ops. Then you had Michael Keaton in Black Ops 2. Nobody, is topping either of those.
I honestly think Woods had every right to hate Hudson. Hudson was a traitor and a double agent. There was clear indicators in both of the games. In Baikinour, Weaver was burned and compromised. Even though Hudson was not shown yet, there was no clear indicator of how he was caught. In the level “Crash Site”, Dragovich and Kravchenko are seen towards the end of the level. The only reason two high ranking officers would show up to that crash site is if they know a HVT would show up and they did know that Mason, Woods, and Bowman were going to be there. In BO2, the biggest indicator was in the Afghanistan level when Kravchenko indicated that Menéndez had people in the CIA. As soon as he said that, Hudson became defensive and claimed that Kravchenko was lying. In the Panama level, Hudson lied to Mason and Woods throughout the whole mission. Towards the end, Hudson tricked Woods into thinking that Nexus target was Menéndez and manipulated him into pulling the trigger on his own friend. You have to admit that Woods was hot-headed and judgmental, but he definitely had a sixth sense about Hudson.
Title of this vid sounds like something Hudson would pull out his ass to hold against woods for an argument. (Its 2024 but the shit in question happened decades ago 💀)
@@meteidac5913 Hudson literally sacrificed himself to save David. Sure Hudson wasn’t the best but he was a good individual for saving David at the end.
@@erentkss7805It's a lose lose situation for Woods. If he was truthful then Woods and especially Mason would despise him since it lead to David dying.
@@Potato_n_TomatoIt was lose lose for Hudson at the end too. If David got killed by Menendez, then it would've been a 110% chance Woods kills Hudson on sight
Hate how they totally criminalized Hudson in Cold War. Like that’s all he is. A punching bag for the rest of the team. He’s not cool, calculating and sharp as in blops 1/2. And I hate woods acting. Fucking melodrama we do t need it. God Cold War was cringe
Cold War butchered every reoccurring character: Mason doesn't sound like Mason and barley looks his age. Woods is purely just a joke in Cold War despite having serious moments in the BO1 and BO2 campaign (Russian Roulet, getting his knees blown out, and retelling stories to David) Hudson like you mentioned is a punching bag for everyone and is turned into a semi-villian and acted like no one respected him. I think they forgot who the characters were while making the game.
@@MisterDragon_ The biggest issue there is how they made Woods. James C Burns said himself that treyarch didnt even attempt at calling him back for Cold War and instead replaced him with a low badly made impression of him. (Tho its not the new VA's fault but more the voice directors fault.) And his personality is so goofy, nicer than the og Woods who's a hot-headed and impatient kind of guy.
The only reason why Hudson was depicted as a "bad guy" in Cold War was because the entire game is based around exploring the dark deeds of the CIA and Hudson being in the CIA, he's basically guilty by association. The operation greenlight thing wasn't designed by Hudson but since he's CIA, he's gotta share some of that blame with the CIA as an organization. The only real bad thing he did in Cold War was that he didn't tell Woods, Mason, and the rest of the team about the nukes but not because he didn't want to. If you've ever played Cyberpunk 2077s DLC, then may also see some similarities between Reed and Hudson with their loyalty to their respective agencies
I give Cold War credit for 1 reason, it wasn't even meant to be Treyarchs game at first. All because Sledgehammer and Raven couldn't get along, Activision took their scraps and threw it in Treyarchs face and said "You have 1 year, turn this into a Black Ops game so we don't miss a yearly release" And given the circumstances like COVID with most people including the developers working from home, Treyarch did pretty fucking good. Cold War is not on the same level as BO1 or BO2, obviously. But it was sure as hell better than BO3 and BO4, and it was made in such little time during COVID. I still don't forgive them not calling James though. Woods just isn't the same without James lending the voice
@@MisterDragon_okay, the age thing is bullshit because aging in Black Ops makes no sense. Woods is about late 30s in BO1. BO2 he's 50 something and still looks like he's in his late 30s to early '40s. Same with Mason. And by the way, have you ever seen a 90-year-old veteran? They never look as good as Woods here. Not even 0.1% of the population genetics can do that
When I first played back ops 2 I thought Hudson was played by the same actor as in black ops 1 but no different actor although I'm surprised I didn't recognise one of the best batman actors ever Michael Keaton
I like to think Adler and Hudson are unique is how they interact because of how similar and how different they are. Like Hudson is very by the books, very dedicated to his country, and solely mission focused but when it comes to those who he trusts like Mason and Woods, he’s willing to put a lot of that aside for their sake even if it means protecting David at the cost of Mason’s life, Woods’ legs, and Hudson’s life himself. VERY SLIGHT SPOILERS FOR BO6 Adler on the other hand is also mission focused himself and a good patriot like Hudson, but unlike Hudson, Adler will do ANYTHING to complete the mission even if it doesn’t follow protocol but he can do things that seem almost borderline evil for the “greater good” like brainwashing and killing Bell or committing war crimes in BO6 and egging Case to do the same. Like the characters in call of duty aren’t saints especially the black ops characters, but Adler rubs a lot of people the wrong way both in universe and in real life. A lot of sentiment about him in universe is that he’s untrustworthy because he might betray you for the mission. But even then since he’s a really well written character and cool, in my opinion, I don’t mind, but it’s something to keep in mind. Either way both characters are fun because while they both have their issues, they’re both ready to be there when they’re needed on a moment’s notice. TL;DR: Hudson is very by the books and is loyal to his friends while Adler is a good patriot but he will do even morally shady things to get the job done making a lot of people around him weary around him.
Bo1 Hudson was my favorite character in the entire game. Bo2 Alex Mason becomes my favorite. Hudson is still a good character but I think he's better when you know he's deep down a good guy but has to keep his secrets for the cia

Woods was too mad to think straight, and mostly mad at himself.
He was retelling the worst time of his life and got emotional and regretful at how things turned out
Personally I think it fits because of the history of US soldiers “fragging” their higher ups that they thought were a danger to their fellow enlistees in combat. Given how long Woods and Mason spent in Nam, Woods probably considered ending Hudson a few times
5:43 woods really getting treated like a guard dog here

When black ops 6 releases, we all know that Hudson will not get involved due to his sacrifice from Menedez. Or perhaps may get a reference about Hudson and Mason from Woods about them. Since both are unalive. Hope we get to see some more David Mason and Menedez in bo6.
Maybe we could see another flashback with them. Something that seemed insignificant at the time, but is relevant to BO6.

He blames himself. Hudson just ends up taking the flak
It's because woods already knew something was off about the situation plus you need to understand usually Hudson knows more information than most other characters
@TTFEJ He quite literally admitted that Josefina’s death was an accident as well
I also think woods should have died instead of Hudson, as Hudson has a wife and kids and wasn’t paralysed, so if he lived he could of had a greater chance at then catching and stopping Menendez. But instead Woods lives and can’t do shit to Menendez because his legs were blown off.
@@bacon_0472 Hudson would have probably died anyway
Their beef is what adds charm to the campaign... watching their very differing ideals bounce off each other and clash despite everything is what makes them stand out and seem more human, not just following a script and always getting along hunky dory.
The Nam missions aren’t the same without fortunate son playing
Woods is one of the most memorable video game characters and those fools thought it was a good idea to replace his voice actor.
Woods hating Hudson after what happened in Panama really didn't make any sense to me. He clearly knows that Hudson was coerced and Hudson sacrifice his life, despite having two children of his own to save woods and David.
yeah but I think he thought about it and was pissed off knowing Hudson lied to him and shot his best friend instead

They did a terrible job showcasing why Woods has issues with Hudson.
Especially in BO2, apparently, it never occurred to Woods that if he did kill Hudson in N’am, then Mason would have died and Nova-6 would have started WW3.
I was always under the impression that Woods isnt too fond of the CIA?
@ Correct. Woods doesn’t trust the CIA for their shady tactics, it’s why he and Hudson don’t get along.
Nah thats crazy i never noticed hudson not being attacked in the cave that changes so many things
Woods repents saving Hudson in 'Nam. Maybe he thought he was the mole in the CIA

Here’s a more detailed breakdown of the points I want to mention:

Hudson and Woods' relationship is similar to Cartman and Kyle from South Park.
Of all the recasts Hudson was the best genuinely I think he was better than the original and for sure better than bo2
That’s a hard negative brother. You had Ed Harris in the original Black Ops. Then you had Michael Keaton in Black Ops 2. Nobody, is topping either of those.
"Look at Hudson"
So, he just stands there helplessly?
I had 2 friends they were like both of these 2 but they never like each other but I had a good understanding with them
I honestly think Woods had every right to hate Hudson.

Hate how they totally criminalized Hudson in Cold War. Like that’s all he is. A punching bag for the rest of the team. He’s not cool, calculating and sharp as in blops 1/2. And I hate woods acting. Fucking melodrama we do t need it. God Cold War was cringe
Cold War butchered every reoccurring character:
Mason doesn't sound like Mason and barley looks his age.
Woods is purely just a joke in Cold War despite having serious moments in the BO1 and BO2 campaign (Russian Roulet, getting his knees blown out, and retelling stories to David)
Hudson like you mentioned is a punching bag for everyone and is turned into a semi-villian and acted like no one respected him.
All because Sledgehammer and Raven couldn't get along, Activision took their scraps and threw it in Treyarchs face and said "You have 1 year, turn this into a Black Ops game so we don't miss a yearly release"
And given the circumstances like COVID with most people including the developers working from home, Treyarch did pretty fucking good.
Can you make a video about secret things and differences of the MW and BO games on the Nintendo Wii?
Both similar like Michael & Trevor.
Loved the Italian Dub 👍👍
In the end Hudson died for Woods i wonder if he ever regretted the way he thought of him
I like to think Adler and Hudson are unique is how they interact because of how similar and how different they are.
VERY SLIGHT SPOILERS FOR BO6
Adler on the other hand is also mission focused himself and a good patriot like Hudson, but unlike Hudson, Adler will do ANYTHING to complete the mission even if it doesn’t follow protocol but he can do things that seem almost borderline evil for the “greater good” like brainwashing and killing Bell or committing war crimes in BO6 and egging Case to do the same.
Best call of duty ever
