i definitely think the stigma around when and where to wear the poster girl dress is due to them being more common among exotic dancers and SWs, explaining why they are so thin (the fishnet/ shear ones) and people coin them as trashy/tacky outside of the club
People police women’s bodies even when they’re fully covered up. I don’t think this is appropriate attire for a lot of places but like u mentioned there’s a way parents can speak to children if they see someone dressed in a tight sheer dress at Chili’s. I stand with a woman’s right to wear a poster girl dress to a chain restaurant with sneakers or heels! I believe the poster girl can also fight for reproductive freedom !
I'm gonna need everyone concerned about the children at Applebee's to keep this same energy for the blatant alcoholism on display at those restaurants.
I dont understand why these WOMEN are so passionate about what other women are wearing! You mean I cant vote for Kamala, protest for my reproductive rights AND wear a poster dress???😂 The SAME things she said we need to be worried about...doesnt SHE? Instead of telling other women how to dress and WHERE??? Or did they just wanna get on the clock app & complain about something?
I will not police what women wear. I hope most people are considerate enough to cover up the main bits for those who aren't comfortable and didn't consent to seeing genitalia or breasts. We all need to be considerate of one another. I don't have the confidence to wear something like that, but if I did, I wouldn't wear it around someone else's kids, for example. In order to be a part of a society, we sometimes make compromises on personal freedoms. Believing that your personal style is always more important than everyone else's needs or desires is a bit immature.
I definitely think there’s an element of decorum when deciding when and where! I personally wouldn’t care about seeing a woman wearing these dresses in the fore mentioned restaurants, BUT IIRC there was like a post somewhere (Reddit? Facebook?) of a woman attending a child’s birthday party in the Fashion Nova Sheer Black Lace bodycon dress (I can’t remember, but she either was only wearing bra and panty OR nothing underneath!!!) the mom of the party was uncomfortable and so were the other parents… because of course we don’t live in a society where the body isn’t sexualized, we aren’t a culture that has reached a point where nudity or excessive skin around children is safe because of how often it HAS been weaponized in harmful ways. It’s a nuanced conversation for sure to me, which is where decorum comes in. Are you going to the beach? You have to prepare your child to respect and understand the communal agreement of attire, which is that many bodies will have little to no coverings, and that’s perfectly acceptable level of nudity. If you are a person debating wearing this kind of dress, are you entering a space where you can’t control whether children will be there or not (i.e restaurants) or are you entering a space MADE for children where there is a communal agreement to be respectful of their eyes and wear semi modest clothing? A tighter opaque dress can still make you feel sexy while also respecting parents wishes in those spaces to not expose their children to perhaps excessive skin when they don’t have to BECAUSE THE SPACE is made for children, and this goes for both men AND women (don’t show up to a child’s birthday party with a shirt unbuttoned all the way down in grey sweats no underwear, don’t sag your pants and let children you aren’t related to at a birthday party see your buttcrack…) Or are you entering a space where children aren’t accommodated but PARENTS disrespect this boundary (i.e, drag queens saying their shows aren’t made for children, parents who take their children to bars, perhaps pride parades where leather communities and BDSM show up and out)? In those cases then yes, wear that dress… again, it’s unfortunate we live in an age where the body itself is sexualized past the point of recognizing it is just a body, and that we over police women’s bodies in particular. It’s also true that unfortunately nakedness has been weaponized against children, that children are starting to be exposed to fashion that’s for adults at young ages, exposed to NSFW content at too young ages, and that it’s a deliberate marketing strategy so freaks of corporations and individual society can fulfill their p*dophilic desires. And of course parents try their hardest to not let children be exposed to this content online but cannot control real world circumstances, so either they adapt or misdirect their anger at adult women who just want to look cute or sexy in a public space
Tbh I don't understand the "people don't wanna see that at an Applebee's". How sheer are we talking? Bc im from the uk but ill go to tescos to get drinks for pres in full club attire and no one bats an eye. Ill go out to eat then go out to drink after and thats just normal?
I have many a time partook in a Nike air max and minidress with a thigh slit. Ahh to have that figure again 😅. I don't know if its a UK thing but it's definitely normal on the drum and base scene, we gotta dance our tatas off 😉. Wear what you want 💁🏻♀️
