Space marine armor is an inch thick, or more, in certain places. It always bothered me just how quickly and easily chainswords appear to cut through it. I hate to be the "Acthually 🤓" guy but that wasn't the black rage. Most Blood Angels don't come back from the Black Rage and even fewer come back that quickly. What was shown here is a version of the Red Thirst. When the sons of Sanguinius enter battle they can sometimes lose themselves to the thirst causing a fugue state like what we saw here. It is possible to come back from it if one is disciplined enough or with the help of another as we saw with the Chaplain though most who answer the call of the thirst usually lose themselves to the rage shortly after. If you want a good look at the difference between the two I would highly recommend the book The Devestation of Baal. It shows a very good example of both the thirst and the rage.
@NeroTheSable332887 Chief Librarian Mephiston did, Chapter Master Dante did, Rafen did. It's not that rare to find a blood angel that can come back from their first encounters with the black rage. The most popular reason we don't is because they either die in the process or are sent to the black legion. Further proof why this isn't red thirst is because when a blood angel is overcome by the red thirst, they have an unquenchable hunger for blood and, more specifically, human blood. Chaplains always carry around vials of the stuff for this very reason, so if this was the red thirst, the chaplain would have just gave him blood and been done with it.
@@cordthomas97 While those are good examples of Blood Angels who have come back from the rage they're not good examples to further your argument as they're named characters with overall plot significance and "Plot armor". The reason I say it's the thirst and not the rage is that while yes the thirst is characterized by a thirst for blood it is also characterized by a lust to spill blood regardless of the source. And you are correct about Chaplains carrying around blood specifically for that purpose however it doesn't always need to be used as the thirst is easier to overcome for a baseline marine through sheer will than the rage is. As I said it's not impossible to come back from the rage but it is HIGHLY unlikely for a baseline Marine to do so which is why the majority end up in the Tower of Amareo. In the vast majority of cases when an Angel falls to the rage, all that can be done is to pacify them with Librarians and Chaplains until the Death company can be unleashed on the enemies of the Emperor. What we see in this video is essentially a base line Blood Angel and a chaplain, not a special character with plot significance outside of their own work, meaning that if the angel were to fall to the rage 9.9/10 times, they're not coming back.
