This video is just exactly what I needed to figure out the complete sheath building process. Very well explained and at this point has saved me from buying a $140 pricking iron which I just may never need…..thanks for your great youtube content!
I still can’t get over what an awesome tutorial that was as is with all your tutorials. I wouldn’t want to take from your potential capability as a knife maker / leather worker / engineering capabilities ect. But you are such a great educator. Thanks for bringing us along. Did I mention great content creator on TH-cam.
Brother, I've been watching YT since it's inception. I've had a few YT channels and helped others with theirs. Your content is among the very best out there. Just incredible. Your method of teaching really speaks to me. Thank you! I'm at the point where I made your beginner knife, and the little forge and am about to HT my first knife. Thank you for all your guidance. It's making the process a lot fun!
@@RedBeardOps Thanks! I also wanted to thank you for getting me to the Blade Forums. WOW!! Incredible artists on that forum, and very humble, helpful people. You rock!
Man I have drifted away from knives the past 6 months. I’m back and wow what I’ve missed. You’re right, you had no desire to do leather. 😳😳😳 that sheath is gorgeous!!! What a 180 degree change. I’m super jealous. I still have the leather you recommended to me quite a while ago. I’m gonna get back into trying out the leather.
Brother I’m a new knife maker and I’ve had a lot of success making knives. The biggest problem I’ve had is finding a reliable person to make sheaths for me. This video lets me know I can do this myself. Great video. Thank you very much. I appreciate you.
Great job on the sheath, it sure looks like a professional job. Excellent tutorial throughout the entire process and some of the best narration and video ever on you tube. Thankyou...most enjoyable and educational.
Your leather work looks great! This worked out perfect for me, I just finished a new knife and was going to start the leather sheath today, great refresher for me! Love your content and appreciate everything you show, one of my favorite channels! 👍

Man I sure liked watching your tutorial. I've made over a dozen or so sheaths and have only been doing leatherwork when I can for about 5 months. I don't have all the tools and stuff you do but it sure is nice watching it done. I'll have to get some of that leather you've got. I've just gotten hobby lobby stuff and it's thin so I'll have to redo my sheaths at some point...but hey it's helped me learn.

Very nice tutorial man, this should really help people that are new to leathercraft. Pro tip: If you heat your stamp with a heat gun it will stamp super clean, but not sure how much heat you can put into 3d printed stamp but it works great for the metal ones.

Innovative and creative. I've been studying leather working techniques for about a year and using the new techniques I've found as I create unique sheaths. I really like using a light under your pattern. New idea for me. I will implement it. Also liked the idea for the Japan Select basket weave punch you used. That tool that was used to make the tooling border deeper is a tracing stylus when used for working on leather. I have seen Japanese Crimson pricking iron being recommended as a good set of irons. They can be used to mark the placement of stitching holes or to punch them all of the way through the leather because they are a hybrid of pricking iron and punching tool.

When it comes to a pouch sheath, working up ~2/3 of the handle helps greatly with retention. Especially if you're not water forming the leather.
