  • The woman accused of being the real life Martha from the hit Netflix show 'Baby Reindeer' has come forward and denied being a stalker.
The show is on track to become one of Netflix’s most popular shows of all time, with over 56 million views so far BUT for anyone that hasn't seen it let me explain....
The show is based on comedian Richard Gadd's real life experience with a stalker.
He develops a warped and complicated relationship with an older woman named Martha after meeting her at the bar where he works.
Although she initially appears to be friendly, her behaviour unravels in to something sinister
He accused her of constantly following him to comedy gigs, showing up at his house, attacking his girlfriend, sending him a staggering 41,000 emails, 350 hours of voicemail, 744 tweets, 46 Facebook messages and 106 pages of letters.
The show sent the internet into meltdown with cyber sleuths trying to track her down - But, the real life "Martha", who is actually law graduate Fiona Harvey, has come forward and denied the claims Gadd made against her in the show.
Jeremy Vine on 5 is on television every weekday at 9:15am until 1:30pm on Channel 5.

So true about the double standards. On top of everything else she allegedly sexually assaulted Gadd, if that was a male stalker they would not be getting airtime. The fact nobody is discussing his male groomer/rapist supports that. The man is apparently known in the industry. Shouldn’t he be named and questioned by police??

This is not almost a documentary it is a work of fiction based on real events, saying it's a true story does make it a doc. This person was interviewed before this and she is now stalking and threatening that reporter. Gadd wrote and has performed this story hundreds of times, he even won an Olivier for it on stage. One of the things that come up in the story is her lies. She lied in the interview, saying she didn't know then she didn't email him, but she did know him, and email him, she even confessed that she called him Baby Reindeer. She needs help and I hope she gets it. The idea that a fictional account of real events that changed the name of the person portrayed could be the subject of a lawsuit is absurd.

The series is a docu-drama, based on his real life. This show is actually very empathetic towards the character Martha and, of course, being a TV show, it is a work of self-fictionalization, that's why certain details are changed. I went to school with Richard, back then I was a spotty rather unpopular young man who was going through a lot of gender identity issues behind the scene and had also been a victim of an SA by an older man, I found Richard to be quite a mean person who was more than willing to engage in use of homophobic slurs against me and my few friends and was more than happy to be the bully to fit in with his group and not seem gay.
Our guidance teachers were Ms Hutchinson and Mr Tarvet we attended Madras College.
I am glad to see that Richard has lost some of his less savoury behaviours and improved with age. I wish him well. Perhaps he has now a better understanding of the power of other peoples behaviour to cause hurt and as a victim of other people maybe he can now understand that I forgive his actions but will never forget them and the impact they had on my younger self.

She harassed Scottish member's of parliament many years before allegedly stalking Gadd. It was 25 years ago: There was speculation that the perpetrator was Harvey, only her name is reported as “Fiona Muir.” It states, “Solicitor Mrs Wray has become the target of Fiona Muir, whom she sacked from a trainee post at her firm, McPhail Lawrence Partnership, in 1997.
“Since she was dismissed, she has contacted Mrs Wray’s office with a series of threatening phone calls and even turned up at her house on one occasion.”The article goes on to say that Wray was so concerned, she’d made “an official complaint to the police” and “issued her staff with panic alarms.”
Wray herself has since spoken out about the Netflix series, describing her experiences with Harvey as similar to those of Baby Reindeer creator Richard Gadd’s. But the confirmation of her surname only appears to corroborate older reports about the case.

She denies the story is true. But even with things she has said it’s clearly her. Admitting she had a baby reindeer toy, she admits to the article written about her about stalking the other woman. There are lots of tweets sent to Richard from her account. However she clearly lies in that interview. Saying she didn’t know where he lived but sent him a letter.
Also she has showed the same behaviour to a reporter. Constantly calling the reporter, threatening him, sending a lot of rapid texts.
Also I have no idea if it was her but I was in the comment section of the interview and someone was rapid replying to people in defence of her.
There were typos, the user name was what gadd describes, a lot of random letters and numbers.
      I said are you Martha?
She said no but I wish I was.
Which I think is weird to say as who would want to be someone accused of this? I really think it was her.

I remember when changing the names and a few identifying details and locations was enough.
I believe we all have a right to share our personal stories. We need to share more stories like this especially from our male family and friends who need the public’s support to speak out and she’s light , love and support to abuse victims and help them know it’s ok to share and we love you and are with you!
I wish that this story not be commandeered by the abuser and we keep the focus on the male victims.
She didn’t have to go public. All this negotiations-court, could be done in private behind closed doors and with no cameras….. at this point I’m sad she’s the focus instead of the abuse of men and the shame that keeps them from standing up for themselves and getting justice, healing, support and the love they deserve.

Netflix never said their show is depicting this Fiona Harvey. Yes Netflix said it is a true story and has a character named Martha who was stalking Donney. But the show never said it is this woman, but in reality, Fiona herself is claiming that she is that character of Martha. So she herself has to prove that she is that Martha in all accounts. She went to have an interview believing the show intentionally put her to harm. Richard won’t write something that didn’t happened to him. Yes, he uas as well creative freedom as that show is a drama, a tv series! And people should understand that IT IS NOT A DOCUMENTARY.
It is ridiculous that people are blaming Richard Gadd and Netflix wherein even the character of Richard Gadd, the name was even changed to Donney. Obviously, this Fiona is milking every opportunity now knowing the show is a hit and now she is playing the victim card, going to an interview, saying she is that character Martha yet denying so many things. My thoughts are, yeah she’s probably like the character in the series and embarrassed as well as delusional and in denial about what transpired between her and Richard - but what about the man who sexually abused Richard Gadd? The man he had PTSD/revelations about that prompts him to personally admit that he should actually be reporting that man to the police rather than a lonely, mentally-ill, woman who was so infatuated and obsessed with him that she ultimately stalked and harassed him, which is also considered criminal behavior, which she obviously needs diagnosed and treated for the mental illness that drives her actions. What about the sexual assault from the man in the tv and film industry who actually committed the crime of raping Richard Gadd? Why aren’t the Internet sleuths searching, stalking, and threatening him? I’m sure he could be found, too, especially if Richard’s friends during that time leaked the man’s name. I would like to see him try and explain himself in an interview/interrogation like this woman.

I'm not saying it in defence of her, just that our own perception is a huuuuge part of reality and when we're frightened the monster seems bigger. But we all make perceptual mistakes all the time. One person can be "in love" (entirely perception) whilst the object of that love might not reciprocate. Or look at every war in history; both sides are equally convinced they are right.
He didn't out her and I'm just saying this is NF 's wiggle room. It's HIS story from his pov and doesn't claim to be anything other. Whether it's right or not could be argued as entirely perception, including the fact he could be operating on misinformation. And when we're scared we see monsters under the bed.
Truth is a very nebulous concept where feelings are involved. Our "truth" is absolute, but only to us. All he has to say is "its not her."
