LOVE this monologue...it is just amazing and Peter O'Toole delivers it so magnificently. I am always moved by this speech...by the whole film really. It's my favorite musical. Fantastic movie!
Every child should be made to watch this film, IMHO; ready or not. The musical was already a fabulous accomplishment, but this narrative and adaptation changed my life as a child and has never left me. Hope has two beautiful daughters, after a
This monologue/soliloquy is the only one from O'Toole's speeches in Man of La Mancha that has stuck with me ever since I first heard it. I remember the hair on my arms sticking up from the goosebumps his conviction gave me. Bravo, good sir!
Miguel de Cervantes was a very real person who wrote the book "The Man Of La Mancha" back in the 1500's, upon which both the play and the movie have been based. He was a soldier and a slave as he says here, and his writings convey all the depth and character of someone who has been sorely tried in life. I don't believe any actor could do more justice to Cervantes' work than Peter O'Toole has done here. This soliloquy is stirring, poignant and profound and one of my very favorites.
Interesting speech. "Seeking treasure where there's only trash" and "Seeing life as it truly is" Is of course contradictory but I don't think by mistake.
Excellent reflection...the need for us to see life as it should be. 👍👍

Peter O'Toole nails this scene. One of the greatest performers ever.
Idealism based on experience. Beautiful.
Not Idealism but rather narcissism. believing in yourself to be greater than you are.
@@yaronhoffwhen this belief push you to accomplish great things, there is no narcissism. Because you do end up being greater.
Best.Speech. Ever.
I memorized this 6 years ago. And it's not been done better. God rest ye. Wisdom from a brilliant actor and a great script.
Only Peter O'Toole could deliver this extempore in this way with all the feeling and emotion .
Damn; he meant every word of that. Pretty intense.
