Another excellent adventure with Jay!, with friends in high places (literally). Always nice to see you with Lindsay (author extraordinaire ), and while you tube is your method of documentation, I would describe you as Jay le chroniqueur, (The chronicler) an editor, diarist, journalist, chronicler of the intimate things in life, the details that are in between the big events. Keep up the good work!
La Tour d'Argent has a 3 course lunch menu for 110€ per person and 2 fixed price dinner menus, chef's choice for 295€ and the other 350€ per person not including drinks. À la carte prices are much higher. I'm going to need to save up for a while. It was great to see the view from the rooftop. Thanks for le tour de la Tour.
@@thedavidguy01 I agree I wouldn't be comfortable spending that much on a single meal. Unless it was a bucket list experience. I would rather spend the money for another night in Paris.
😁👍🏻❤️ wow ! nice ! Maybe someday I can afford to go there, it’s very cool ! I especially love that the owner literally grew up there as part of the family business. That would make a great movie. A little kid running around, being told by grandpa & pa to go get this, go do that, the chaos of the kitchens, and then the elegant metamorphosis into the cool fine young man owner who knows every nook & cranny & tradition of a most historic restaurant, in one of the worlds greatest cities. Awesome. Great documentary. 👍🏻❤️
Joli coup Jay ! :)
OMG AWESOME!!!!!!!! This is everything I LOVE, a bit of history, backstory, unique 3 generations in fine dining in the midst of PARIS ooh la la!!! Sorry but how exciting, those historic pictures of famous guests, it hit all the right spots of my 64yrs. Of course the ducks, and the foods, the bakery, how kind they all were, what a wonderful friend to bring you Jay! The skyline from the top was exquisite to see, lovely. I hope you have an opportunity to dine there Jay :) Thank you for bringing us along! I did so love seeing you speaking French with everyone...
OPINEL Knife: Twist the silver collar below the blade to lock it in place after opening. Also, after washing, be sure to DRY completely before closing; the blade will rust! You have partial custody of a unique version of a French classic picnic knife so take good care of it!!
Every time I hear about the Tour d’Argent it reminds me about Iron Chef as they name dropped it a couple of times when talking about some of the guest chefs. Great views!
Thank you for the wonderful view from up above. You certainly were lucky. I walked by here so many times when I stayed just around the corner on my visit to Paris and knew it was a great place to eat but way out of my budget so it’s nice to see inside. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
What an extraordinary experience! And how lovely that they are sharing more of their food with the masses, so to speak. I hope it works out for them - it’s a very good idea whose time has come, I should think! I really enjoyed this, Lindsey and Jay. Thank you!
Yes Jay you are so right about it being expensive. My next trip to Paris it is on my bucket list for sure. Being a chef myself made this vlog very special. In my research this restaurant came up more than once. I wish I had gone there when I was there two years ago. Again what a great and special vlog today. Thanks for that. :)
That was INCREDIBLE! What a view!!!😮😮😁😁. And I already listen to, and LOVE Lindsey's podcast and books!! I have learned so much from her!! Definately plan to pick up a pique-nique box when we come back to Paris! And a few if those specialty spices for my daughters! What a treat!! 🥰🥰 Merci Beaucoup @lostincheeseland!!
Second last time I was in Paris, I bought a jar of baba au rhum at their bakery to bring back home, the over weight of the suitcase was totally worthy! Next trip, it already planned that me and my Parisian friend are going for an unforgettable dinner!
I’ve always wanted to see inside. Can’t afford to eat there so your video is what will have to satisfy my curiosity. Thank you so much. How lucky were you
Such a cool video! I'm not into celebrities yet I find a place that attracts them interesting. It all creates and upholds a story. Also I find generational business so interesting.
So funny!! As soon as you said silver tower, I thought, "That would tarnish so fast" and then you immediately said it would tarnish. 😆 Definitely thinking on the same wave length. That was such a cool experience! How fun and tasty!
What an amazing experience and you captured it perfectly Jay! About 20 years ago when I was a PA I had to arrange a trip to Paris for my CEO and directors and their wives - the visit culminated in a meal at the Tour d’Argent - so it was great to see what it is like there! When I’m able to go visit Paris again I’ll have to check out their epicerie and boulangerie!
Probably the oldest documented restaurant in Paris. Did some reading on Tour d’Argent... there’s literally no evidence it’s been around as long as they claim. In fact, there’s some evidence to contradict it. Look it up on wiki.
Always takes me a second to remember that your friend's instagram handle "lostincheeseland" is not a reference to the state of Wisconsin, where I grew up, but obviously the more notorious producer of cheese, France. Ope
Haven't been back since they closed the forum Les Halls for a rebuild, then covid hit. I just wan't to see the new shopping center they built. Not looking foreward to seeing the damaged church. Last time I saw it with my eyes it was partially cleaned and vivid while the rest was dark and dingy. I thought the next time I see it will be all clean and spectacular, now the spire is gone maybe for a lifetime. So sad.
That was very impressive! I loved the celebrity wall. That’s so interesting that they have all of that wine in their cellar, wow! Oh yeah, and the numbering of ducks! Lol Just think of McD! This is our #### hamburger! Lol 😂
Fun time! BTW, can you point me to the two songs you're using in this? Would love to add them to a playlist. Dyalla has so much content, finding them is proving challenging.
Hiya, Emily here! We can say this about many claims throughout history, I'm sure. However, several well established tour guides and histories of Paris say otherwise, and I'm inclined to believe them over wikipedia!
Tres cool Jay!!!! Thank you so much for sharing with us! 👏👏👏👏 Side note: I am beyond thrilled that we can visit again. I'm thinking of coming for the month of October. Do you think that's a good idea or should I delay till 2022??? Honest feedback please! ( 5th trip)
I'm glad I can share! And I can't really say what you should do either way - my hope is that things are open for good, but I'm as in the dark about how things will progress as everyone, unfortunately. I hope that when you do make a trip, it's a total blast!
Super cool! I’ve always wondered about this place! I never knew what it was. I thought it was a hotel. So, did the boxes come from the epicerie or from the owner of the resto? Are the boxes available in the Epicerie? Asking for a friend ;0)
www.opinel-usa.com/ you can't get the exact blue one because it's made especially for Tour D'argent but they have other spectacular knives and you can have them engraved. I love mine No8 ftw :)
Enjoyed this video. Your female friends and French women shown on your channel are all so natural and beautiful. I despair of the effects of cosmetic surgery I see on many Australian women. As a feminist it breaks my heart.
So interesting to see this wonderful restaurant, but JAY...your camera work made it very difficult to watch!! It was dashing all over the darn place and I could hardly take a look at anything before you shakily pointed the camera somewhere else! Slow down so we can enjoy it too!
So fun! What a unique experience. I also enjoy the bits where there is a little French being spoken so I can see how much I catch on to on my own!
Ooo, Lindsays got the hookups! The history of that place is very cool. Thank you for sharing this real treat! 🙏

Dear Jay, awesome fun, amazing place, really enjoyed it.
me after looking up on google how much this place is: god damn
:))) This long number on the sale, is it the reference of the wine? No sir, the price. :)
Great video. I loved that the owner was so down to earth and nice. It's always refreshing when they're not stuffy :)
