A video about the huge light rail system in the Rhein-Ruhr area in Nord Rhein Westfalen in Germany.
Stadtbahn Rhein-Ruhr connects Düsseldorf, Duisburg, Dinslaken, Krefeld, Oberhausen, Mülheim an der Ruhr, Essen, Gelsenkirchen, Bochum Herne and Dortmund through tramways, underground and aboveground, with high and low floor vehicles. Operated by 5 transport companies; Rheinbahn, DVG, Ruhrbahn, Bogestra and DSW21.
They are all connected to eachother except for the connection between Bochum and Dortmund where the connection never has been finished.
In this video you see all the underground station on the system.

Fun fact: Ruhrbahn in Essen uses old DLR trains from London.

I love that fuzzy buzzing sound you get from the Düwag m/n trams and the ones in Duisburg.
you must have "luck" to see something like that kid in minute 53:20 because Aktienstaße is my daily station and i never have seen somethimg like that.

Ohhh the good old motor sound of the DÜWAG B80 D trains (1:39:00-1:39:36, 1:41:07-1:43:10 and 1:44:58-1:45:52) of the U35 line connecting Bochum and Herne.
I remember riding these a lot of times as a child when I was living in Herne back in 1999-2002.

The sound doesn’t come from the traction motors, but from the thyristors.

Bogestra, my home system. Sad that the classic B-Wagen will be modernised soon in Bochum, and starting to be scrapped in the near future in the other cities.
Bei uns in Dortmund werden die B-Wagen ebenfalls modernisiert; parallel dazu werden neue B80D bestellt und die alten ex-Bonner B100S ausgemustert.
@@arino253 Yeah I heard that. Just sad that a lot of their character goes missing when modernised. But aslong as they keep their motor sounds and get wifi I'm okay with it, modernising old stuff is better for budget and environment
@@chickenpommes19 Our B-Wagen fleet will keep there old traction motors, but the old GTO chopper control will be replaced by new IGBT control units, so they will have a different sound in future.
@@arino253 Ugh, I dislike the sound of new rolling stock, they all have that same annoying high pitched "*squeaaaak* eeeEEEEEEEEEEE" sound. Not saying they should take electricity and turn it into 70% noise, 30% propulsion, just that it's an annoying thing to listen to rather than a quiet growling as the old stock do

Excellent video of the Rhein Rhur Tramways. Spoilt by the terrible fast zooming of the shots.Time to learn how to use a camera. Interesting to see the original stations being extended for longer trains. Also some nice re-building of the original design of the stations which I saw when they first opening in the early 80's.

No Köln and Bonn have a separate video and also Bielefeld cause they are not part of the Stadtbahn Rhein-Ruhr, but they are all inside Nord Rhein Westfalen.

Het lijkt wel of sommige duitse OV personeel/passergiers helemaal niks met ov spotters te maken willen hebben.
Mainly because it‘s illegal to film anyone without their permission. That doesn‘t apply to huge public spaces (like if their are 50 people and more (not officially but around that number)) but generally you need to ask or blur their faces or you might risk high fines and technically you could even face time in prison although that is highly unlikely.
I don't like so Dortmund light rail I like it a little bit but Dortmund becomes in 2 month new light rails
