I just wanna give a quick shoutout to Mirage! 2 of her clones SHOOT alongside her, but all 4 use melee. If you've got the range, that means 5x the rate you normally stack viral and/or corrosive, pretty snappy. It also makes less consistent DoT weapons more consistent!
Kulkervo with the last two patch buffs, with nourish, violet shards and using Hate is just so powerful. As others have said, he doesn't drop off until crazy levels which most won't do anyway.
Yeah to this day the kullervo+reaper prime build I made week 2 of him being out (with the only change being the addition of tennokai and a melee arcane but those don't kick in for this example) can still one shot a full spawn group of corrupt heavy gunners in SP mode at the highest levels I can simulate in the simulacrum. Those shared slash ticks from a super crit go hard
@@torunsmok5890 One AMAZING synergy with him and the melee arcanes is Melee Exposure, you're casting Kull's overshield enough and using his 1 enough that you get a free armour shred guaranteed ontop of the crazy crit and heavy attack synergy, it's stupid. You can literally clear a room with 200% str allowing you to focus range in your mods. Throw 2 red archons on him, 2 yellows for casting speed, and honestly he's so comfy combined with adaptation which does stack in his overshield state, you literally become so ridiculously tanky it's just -chefs kiss-
Considering how many Warframes I've subsumed Wrathful Advance on to, I got to give it to Kullervo. Currently running an Excalibur Umbra. Replaced his 1 with Wrathful Advance. Slapped on Adaptation. Equipped with Despair, Dread, and Hate. So I'm basically running Stalker Umbra. Will probably go back to Valkyr at some point.
I actually started using Brozime's Excel build where you replace his 4 with Wrathful Advance with a stat stick and.... It's wild. It's probably the most afk setup in the game behind Xaku xD It's fun for me since it reminds me of old blade storm
Funny since bladestorm clones still scale with a lot of mods to a degree even after it was supposedly fixed , still stronger than old one was scaling wise , also Brozikendidnt even use magister which makes it even funnier haha
@@RossKyle95 for sure, Bladestorm damage can get pretty busted especially with Silence + Augment but I mostly compared it to old Bladestorm because it's just tap and go instead of the current one where you need to mark and if you want the cutscene, you need to use teleport while Bladestorm is happening x.x

Valkyr was my favorite frame when I originally got into the game a long time ago and it has always made me sad how far she has fallen but when voruna and kullervo came out I finally had new favorite frames and they have taken her spot for me even tho she is still one of my favorites
It's a shame. It takes so much work to make Valkyr good again. She was, and still might be, one of my most played frames. Baruuk might have taken that spot nowadays, but I miss Valkyr
Valkyr is still very good, her main issue is mainly QoL/2 bad abilities but her actually melee gameplay is very strong. Her slide attack plus the introduction of tennokai turns her into a hypermobile room clearer.
Of course Kullervo, you can discard the Combo system and critical chsnce mods and build however you want while causing red criticals and you can still stack combos with skills
Voruna forces weapons to get to 100% and modifies Crit damage on top of mods and also forces slash during the buff after coming out of invis and that’s not factoring elemental taxi from her 2
@@spauy kullervo 4 is utility to keep His combo up and to stagger enemies , even then you combo it with his 3 and it will kill - I’ve done level cap withvorunaa 4 and it will be sufficient if you know how to use her and stack her stuff
Voruna with a Catalyzing Shields/Brief Respite setup is incredibly survivable, as the amount of health orbs she generates ensures a constant energy supply. Refreshing a 1.33s shield gate makes her more survivable at high levels than Kullervo refreshing his 0.5s overguard gate. Voruna buffs the melee _harder,_ her shroud of dynar + subsumed wrathful is a 1-2 punch of crit chance crit damage, with guaranteed bleeds from dynar too on top of being able to prime your melee for every status in the game by spamming your 2 a couple of times. But Kullervo, while buffing the melee less, has a far more important tool. That is, spreading the melee's damage to an absolutely huge area. Voruna's status spread only has a chance of spreading her DOT procs, so Kullervo can much more consistently damage enemies in a large area.

2:49 I actually really like leaving the Storm of Ukko on him due to one quirk: both his 2 and 4 on damage ticks count as melee hits to build combo. Yeah Roar like you used there would give you that faction damage buff, but having the daggers help your melee combo uptime intrinsically to his kit is what sells him as the better melee frame to me.
duuude these two are my most played frames since they were released. and voruna's wrath is an insanely fun combo :))) I love that they combine ability spam with heavy melee play which no other frame does. as kullervo I constantly score 60 to 80% dmg in netracell runs in public. plus pardon my bad pun but he has KUL embedded in his name :))))
Oh yeah. For non-SP content, the augment for her 4 is quite fun. I think I did a 10 minute survival in pubs and didn't have to come out of her 4 until the very end. And even then it wasn't by absolute necessity.
I was determined to get a melee Warframe and pour into it everything I got. So I got Voruna and fell in love with her playstyle. It's that "feral predator" vibe that hooked me in.
mirage ? if you build for strenght then it is : 5x the damage, 5x the ammount of statuses, and larger range thanks to the hall of mirrors, potentionaly huge eclipse damage boost (applied 5x with total eclipse) with around 10x damage multi, acces to blind for another 7x damage + OP companion since eclipse always applis max damage buff to companion + survival problems are solved with CEDO which is both a primer (with 9 different statuses) and basicly hard CC for whole rooms + free subsume for anything you want (i recommend nourish since it boost every single point i have mentioned here, more statuses, more damage, applies to HoM, applies to companion, solves any energy issues, boosts survivalability)
Gauss, put wrathful advance over thermal sunder. Grab the augment for mach rush so you can pull people in. Balance range, strength, and duration at like ~200 ish each, can get away with less duration but I like it and supplement with archon shards.
Voruna can do any level content, but you need to play her well even on low-level content (I considder steel path without going more than 5 mins low level). But Kullervo can also do any level content, but you only need to switch your brain on at around level 1000.
I could not have put it better myself. You really have to concentrate, all the time, with Voruna, whereas with Kullervo you can pretty much get into a rhythm from the off, and it's really smooth.
Actually I disagree, but maybe I've just played her so much. My Ulfram's Descent build always feels like I'm cheating. I just put on some chill music and wreck everything.
its not kullervo or voruna, its mirage. ever wondered why we stack multishot on weapons? beucase its the best damage multiplier and mirage literally has multishot on melees with her clones
Kullervo is more melee oriented for me since he has basically infinite combo counter, while Voruna i use as a half and half with priming with her second, killing the enemy and slam the Cedo special
Haven’t made voruna yet. Love kullervo. Made a massive heavy attack build with ceramic dagger that one shots demos and almost hits damage cap. But my top frame right now is gyre. Being about to speed around the map as a walking lightning storm while all her weapons and abilities deal constant red crits is so broken
Hydroid also benefits from wrathful advance! With his plunder and corrosive procs on everything he can easily go to stupid high levels! Maybe not on par but still a ton of fun!
Honestly I like them both but Voruna is my favorite right now, I really like the CO setup and I actually think her 4 with the augment is outstanding in most missions. The fact that she gets stalled by nullifiers in that mode is a real buzzkill though so if there's gonna be those I bring a max range setup with wrathful advance over her 4 or something similar. Her parkour velocity passive is just a lot of fun for getting around missions, then you can switch to efficiency or status immunity as needed and I really like that

I still main valkyr prime, just love her simplicity. Need attack speed?, use warcry with eternal war. Dying? use her ult. Also she is tanky enough that if you build her right you will be ok on most of the Star Chart and SP without relying from the invulnerability of her ult or rolling guard. Also i love that she doesnt kneel when falling from high places just keep on running like its nothing. Only cons for me is she is expensive to build.
I don't have either of them yet. For now I'm making do with Valkyr on occasion, but mostly for melee fun I'm finding Venom Dose Saryn with Condition Overload + Healing Return to be pretty effective. I don't have much for shards yet, either, but I'm working on it, and Melee Influence...that's the dream, isn't it?
I was able to out DPS my brother on both Mirage and Saryn with Kullervo, and only he knew we were competing. 😂😂😂 His KPH was a bit higher, but my damage was destroying him. 😂😂
If Condition Overload and Shattering Impact functioned properly with Serene Storm, it'd be a no contest in favor of Baruuk. Currently his Serene Storm ability is wonky at best, being bugged out by having, technically, 3 melee mechanics hobbled together.
I hold them as equal on both my setups since they both can easily output billions of damage in seconds but I gotta say my Voruna build with Breach surge is just absolutely so satisfying
Kullervo is best if you like playing around with different weapons, but for pure raw room clearing, insane mobility, permastealth, leave the floor covered in orbs for your team, nothing beats a Voruna Ulfram's Descent build, which you didn't cover here.
I'm probably playing Warframe entirely wrong but i like to use Excaliber umbra with Dual kamas prime. I know i'm certainly not doing millions of damage but maybe i'll learn how to some day. I just wish the mods i want weren't 1% chance to get or have to log in for 500 days.
Grind out relics for prime parts and blueprints, use the warframe market online to get a rough idea on the price and sell em to players. You’ll be swimming in platinum and be able to buy the mods you want ☺️
Voruna has great survivability run health conversion arcane blessing and then shield charger and guardian with bond mod that resets precept cooldown after status effects
TL;DR I love kullervo lmao I love my Kullervo much more. He is an absolute monster. I got 5 violet (1 tau) shards on him and my Azothane gets a whopping of 14X CRIT DAMAGE at BASE. Combine this with wrathful advance which gives me 458% crit chance I shree enemies even after an hour of survival. I also love to use syam with him because it fits him and its wave cleaes enemies. He doesn't die easily too. One of my comfort frames for sure.

Voruna is easily the tankyer frame. Both frames when moded right survive base steel path without any problems, but kullervo unlike voruna will struggle at higher levels no matter what you do with him and in lvelcap he will instantly die to every gust of wind. Also roar is the better subsume unless you are running a VERY specific build. Roar double dips on slash procs and triple dips on melee influence. To reach 100% roar damage for melee influence wrathfull advance would need to give you +800% CC.
Video idea: with soo many other better melee war frames… is the OG melee frame, Excal. (any ‘version’) still viable in any way shape or form. Thank you.
I'd say Kullervo, guaranteed red crits that you can increase even more with other abilities and you can't die, unlike Excal the bad, deals insane damage but gets one shot as soon as you walk into a room, and Kullervo deals more damage anyways

I never thought as Voruna as all that good at anything, maybe if her stealth didn't break when she attacks. Kullervo is amazing for melee but I prefer Rhino for greater overguard (Kullervo caps at 13,000), a damage buff that also helps the squad, his charge helps _some_ with mobility, and the damage and CC from the stomp. Kullervo is great but I'm not a huge fan of having to customize weapon mods to suit the frame that's using them. A strong contended for me would be Stalker, you can only play him in Duviri but his stealth actually lasts and he does insane damage while it's up, and his mark/teleport combo can obliterate large groups. Plus his ult gives him pretty damn great defense, in addition to stealth just making him untargetable.
Man, my boy Gauss doesn't get enough credit. He doesn't give as much damage as these two in the video, but he gives tons of attack speed and he's tanky enough with Kinetic Plating and mobile enough with Mach Rush that melee is super comfortable on him
I like using Oberon, lock in the buffs on your party and fallow through on the swings. Not the strongest but i enjoy being an offensive support for my team. Makes it hard finding a new frame other than necron fro me. Lol

Kullervo is the better frame but I have more fun with Voruna. I absolutely love using Voruna, she's a powerhouse. Kullervo brings more to the table but for me personally I just have more fun using Voruna. If you build them right: they're both great in there own ways.
The problem with Valkitty is that the Hysteria stance is bad, but with recent updates she can do billion damage crits in Hysteria so any forced Slash proc anywhere in the stance combos means she can do invulnerable level cap pressing 3 buttons. It's a sticky problem for DE to solve without a ground-up rework and there are actual bad frames that need the love more...
Kullervo is so strong, but is he really a melee type of warframe though ? If you look at it you spend the majority of your time pressing the abilities, it's faster to chain ennemies then pressing 1 to kill them all than to actually melee them. you do take time to benefit the red crit buffs though but not as much as you'd expect, i mean if you see a group of like 5 ennemies, you're already throwing that chain again. What about A Wukong with Kullervo's ability though ? He'd probably sit next to Voruna!
As a melee enthusiast, it was always between Kullervo and Excalibur. I think Voruna is really good don't get me wrong, but she always felt way too clunky and would consistently get overpowered by Excalibur's Furious javlin buff the higher the enemy density, which in a horde shooter is literally the whole point. Even Kullervo deals less damage then Excal cuz he only buffs Crit chance and doesn't have any final damage multipliers when Excal has 2 with his 3's augment, and his 2's blind that gives +700% stealth damage bonus. but at least Kullervo has a built in marked for death which easily gives him the highest KPM out of all the 3 frames.
the community seem to be sleeping on excalibur to be honest. In public lobbies I usually find myself having 80-90% of dmg and the lions shares of kills in all content until level 600. I think most people just dont understand how to use him.
@@Kae_Nynthey are not. Excalibur has Line of sight issues which make his buff unreliable. His damage is highly inconsistent and he is way more fragile as well
@@Kae_Nyn yeah, he is just like volt, as in his Ability descriptions literally don't tell you anything, you really have to read the wiki to find out how he works. most people still have no idea that his 2 indirectly boosts damage and that his 1 requires a stat stick. most people see the wall of text from the abilities page of frames like Kullervo and Voruna and they assume that they must be better cuz they have seem to do more.
Voruna is hands down the strongest melee frame no contest. Kullervo is also very good, but the fact that his best ability is his Helminth downgrades his power monopoly. Also Voruna + CO is generally very similar in damage to Red Crit Kullervo with no priming, and she significantly surpasses his damage with his Helminth over her 4. Voruna's Status spread from her 2 alongside using Melee Influence on her gives her very similar KPM and area coverage as Kullervo. She also has unlimited energy, status immunity so her Exilus slot is free and she doesn't need Rolling Guard, and her base shields are low so she's great at shield gating (plus she's not using a secondary so Augur Reach + Augur mods on Secondary are her full shield gate with Catalyzing and she doesn't need Brief Respite). She's also not clunky, do people not know how to play her? You cast 3 and it's up for the rest of the mission, then your combo is just cast 1, when you see an enemy you want to melee press 2, melee, cast 1 when your crit damage buff from 1 expires, cast 2 on a new enemy, repeat. She's just cycling 2 abilities to gain damage and move around while shield gating and being invisible outside of combat, and the rest of your time is just spent doing melee. She's super fluid and jumps around the map. It's her 4 that's clunky which isn't used on good Voruna builds.

getting rid of kul 4 makes it hard or impossible to constant heavy attack which wih how fast he can want to. each hit from storm to a chained enemy in the sotrm is keeping counter up. maybe the roar is = 12x combo? wrathful advance mechanics have problems as sometimes im waiting for extended amount of time unable to cast 'ability in use' have moved on to have the skill finsh and be drug back. it should be unlinked for the heavy attack windup. i have trouble figureing out if it is that or the recompense animation the game is tring to sort out i say this because of how smoothly both vorunas warp attacks function. instant smooth kullevero is the better tank until his overguaard is gone and there isnt 4 enemys to make recompense spamable as it will run the animation (3 blades per enemy 10 blades the timer till the blades return unaffected by casting speed as far as i can tell which is 1 reason why i learned how much kull loves range.....untill constantly teleporting into walls or over ledges lol is 60M too much no because linking 45m of enemies....thats like one of the long rooms in the void tileset....lol) conversly voruna has a built in oh-shit kit that is fairly reliable but if nothing is dying your not healing so they are both lacking in the sense of needed enemies to survive (ironically) i think she wins if CO. kul is getting higher crit tiers she is getting raw crit damage kul is about spanking...(anyone else hear him yelling 'NOO' when going after demolists? lol) and its so easy to maintain a 12x spank vs voruna who has to work at it but will almost always beat him when she does (speculation) as always there will never be a best as everythiing is circumstances..... unless maybe kull goes beast mode on her and theyh have a baby lol

My Preference is Kullervo because he's more chill to play imo, just stack a bit of Overguard with his 2, after that Wrathful with Incarnon Hate and occasionally pop the 3 for nuking rooms full of Enemies. Just personal Preference, not saying that he's objectively better :)
Still doesn't have a proper build for Kullervo so I'm going for Voruna. I think she can go toe to toe with kullervo if she has a melee influence and a weapon that can force proc electric dmg on heavy attack.
Valkyr best. Especially now with new melee Arcane, Tennokai, Archon shard, good operator skill, subsume abilities and easy energy sustain available. If you don't mind proton snap, she is evil. Even without slash or armor strip, valkyr can just do knockdown and do ground finisher and ignore armor. With new tools she can suck enemies into one place, knocking all of them down and do damage that completely ignore armor while having highest multiplier on finisher, higher base damage because exalted weap, higher effect from mod because of set mods. Baruuk is cool but he can't play as braindead and projectile get nothing from CO. Slide attack makes them both less weak to nullifiers too. People have exceed damage cap with these frames if I remembered correctly.
Kullervo is the best melee frame in the game and it's not even close. His best ability is collective curse without a shred of doubt and the damage spreading of it is what makes him the best. I don't care if you can have an incarnon weapon with a riven with primed reach to get 10 meter attack range. Collective curse reaches 60+ meters and has 0 damage fall-off from followthrough.
I am going to TLDR a long story and say since 2017 if it is melee focused, slap it on ash prime with his smoke screen augment pump up that duration and "let the bodies hit the floor let the bodies hit the floor let the bodies hit the ..... FLOOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Then in spy mission drop a bit of duration for range and slap on fatal teleport. Great way to get past laser beams if there is a vent or enemy on the other side of it. Otherwise if you are pressing 1 or 4, you are "playing wrong" Now for those interested in the story: I started playing in 2017, my first warframe was Excalibur. He lasted 2 months until I got MR 2 bought some plat and traded for ash prime. Since then EVERYTHING I did was with ash prime. Jade shadows dropped and I decided to look into retiring Ash. Dante came close, but I love me some smoke screen and the big juicy red crits I was getting with him.
Yeah kullervo and voruna are good at melee, but the British are better

His combo up and to stagger enemies , even then you combo it with his 3 and it will kill - I’ve done level cap withvorunaa 4 and it will be sufficient if you know how to use her and stack her stuff
Voruna with a Catalyzing Shields/Brief Respite setup is incredibly survivable, as the amount of health orbs she generates ensures a constant energy supply. Refreshing a 1.33s shield gate makes her more survivable at high levels than Kullervo refreshing his 0.5s overguard gate.
Voruna buffs the melee _harder,_ her shroud of dynar + subsumed wrathful is a 1-2 punch of crit chance crit damage, with guaranteed bleeds from dynar too on top of being able to prime your melee for every status in the game by spamming your 2 a couple of times.
But Kullervo, while buffing the melee less, has a far more important tool. That is, spreading the melee's damage to an absolutely huge area. Voruna's status spread only has a chance of spreading her DOT procs, so Kullervo can much more consistently damage enemies in a large area.

You don't need to build Voruna's defenses if you use an Ulfram's Descent build, since she never gets hit.

2:49 I actually really like leaving the Storm of Ukko on him due to one quirk: both his 2 and 4 on damage ticks count as melee hits to build combo. Yeah Roar like you used there would give you that faction damage buff, but having the daggers help your melee combo uptime intrinsically to his kit is what sells him as the better melee frame to me.
duuude these two are my most played frames since they were released. and voruna's wrath is an insanely fun combo :))) I love that they combine ability spam with heavy melee play which no other frame does. as kullervo I constantly score 60 to 80% dmg in netracell runs in public. plus pardon my bad pun but he has KUL embedded in his name :))))

Oh yeah. For non-SP content, the augment for her 4 is quite fun. I think I did a 10 minute survival in pubs and didn't have to come out of her 4 until the very end. And even then it wasn't by absolute necessity.
Non SP?? Voruna with an Ulfram's Descent build is by far my most fun and effective frame for SP.

Voruna is just so fun. I used valkyr forever! And then mesa for a brief period now it’s purely voruna or sometimes wisp.
I was determined to get a melee Warframe and pour into it everything I got. So I got Voruna and fell in love with her playstyle. It's that "feral predator" vibe that hooked me in.
mirage ? if you build for strenght then it is :
5x the damage, 5x the ammount of statuses, and larger range thanks to the hall of mirrors,
potentionaly huge eclipse damage boost (applied 5x with total eclipse) with around 10x damage multi,
acces to blind for another 7x damage
+ OP companion since eclipse always applis max damage buff to companion
+ survival problems are solved with CEDO which is both a primer (with 9 different statuses) and basicly hard CC for whole rooms
+ free subsume for anything you want (i recommend nourish since it boost every single point i have mentioned here, more statuses, more damage, applies to HoM, applies to companion, solves any energy issues, boosts survivalability)
Gauss, put wrathful advance over thermal sunder. Grab the augment for mach rush so you can pull people in. Balance range, strength, and duration at like ~200 ish each, can get away with less duration but I like it and supplement with archon shards.
I love my red crit Garuda Prime using her claws. Just personal preference to me.
Voruna can do any level content, but you need to play her well even on low-level content (I considder steel path without going more than 5 mins low level). But Kullervo can also do any level content, but you only need to switch your brain on at around level 1000.
I could not have put it better myself. You really have to concentrate, all the time, with Voruna, whereas with Kullervo you can pretty much get into a rhythm from the off, and it's really smooth.
Actually I disagree, but maybe I've just played her so much. My Ulfram's Descent build always feels like I'm cheating. I just put on some chill music and wreck everything.

Kullervo is more melee oriented for me since he has basically infinite combo counter, while Voruna i use as a half and half with priming with her second, killing the enemy and slam the Cedo special
Haven’t made voruna yet. Love kullervo. Made a massive heavy attack build with ceramic dagger that one shots demos and almost hits damage cap. But my top frame right now is gyre. Being about to speed around the map as a walking lightning storm while all her weapons and abilities deal constant red crits is so broken
Hydroid also benefits from wrathful advance! With his plunder and corrosive procs on everything he can easily go to stupid high levels! Maybe not on par but still a ton of fun!
Voruna and revenant are my favorite melee frames, putting warcry on rev and ensnare on voruna is crazy
Honestly I like them both but Voruna is my favorite right now, I really like the CO setup and I actually think her 4 with the augment is outstanding in most missions. The fact that she gets stalled by nullifiers in that mode is a real buzzkill though so if there's gonna be those I bring a max range setup with wrathful advance over her 4 or something similar. Her parkour velocity passive is just a lot of fun for getting around missions, then you can switch to efficiency or status immunity as needed and I really like that

I still main valkyr prime, just love her simplicity. Need attack speed?, use warcry with eternal war. Dying? use her ult. Also she is tanky enough that if you build her right you will be ok on most of the Star Chart and SP without relying from the invulnerability of her ult or rolling guard. Also i love that she doesnt kneel when falling from high places just keep on running like its nothing. Only cons for me is she is expensive to build.

I don't have either of them yet. For now I'm making do with Valkyr on occasion, but mostly for melee fun I'm finding Venom Dose Saryn with Condition Overload + Healing Return to be pretty effective. I don't have much for shards yet, either, but I'm working on it, and Melee Influence...that's the dream, isn't it?
I was able to out DPS my brother on both Mirage and Saryn with Kullervo, and only he knew we were competing. 😂😂😂

If Condition Overload and Shattering Impact functioned properly with Serene Storm, it'd be a no contest in favor of Baruuk. Currently his Serene Storm ability is wonky at best, being bugged out by having, technically, 3 melee mechanics hobbled together.

Kullervo is best if you like playing around with different weapons, but for pure raw room clearing, insane mobility, permastealth, leave the floor covered in orbs for your team, nothing beats a Voruna Ulfram's Descent build, which you didn't cover here.
I'm probably playing Warframe entirely wrong but i like to use Excaliber umbra with Dual kamas prime. I know i'm certainly not doing millions of damage but maybe i'll learn how to some day. I just wish the mods i want weren't 1% chance to get or have to log in for 500 days.
Grind out relics for prime parts and blueprints, use the warframe market online to get a rough idea on the price and sell em to players. You’ll be swimming in platinum and be able to buy the mods you want ☺️

Voruna has great survivability run health conversion arcane blessing and then shield charger and guardian with bond mod that resets precept cooldown after status effects

TL;DR I love kullervo lmao
I love my Kullervo much more. He is an absolute monster. I got 5 violet (1 tau) shards on him and my Azothane gets a whopping of 14X CRIT DAMAGE at BASE. Combine this with wrathful advance which gives me 458% crit chance I shree enemies even after an hour of survival. I also love to use syam with him because it fits him and its wave cleaes enemies. He doesn't die easily too. One of my comfort frames for sure.
Put both on a team with Excal Umbra and let the carnage begin!
I rarely use melees with Kullervo, I tend to use collective curse with hard hitting single target weapons like the Kuva Chakkhurr making them AoE

Oh MONK Baruuk is just *fantastic* for melee damage. (Meanwhile, still no Varuna and Kullervo but hey, I'm totally on top of farming those.)
Voruna is easily the tankyer frame. Both frames when moded right survive base steel path without any problems, but kullervo unlike voruna will struggle at higher levels no matter what you do with him and in lvelcap he will instantly die to every gust of wind.
Also roar is the better subsume unless you are running a VERY specific build. Roar double dips on slash procs and triple dips on melee influence. To reach 100% roar damage for melee influence wrathfull advance would need to give you +800% CC.
Kullervo got overguard that scales with strength, and he gets brief invincibility when using some abilities....

I'd say Kullervo, guaranteed red crits that you can increase even more with other abilities and you can't die, unlike Excal the bad, deals insane damage but gets one shot as soon as you walk into a room, and Kullervo deals more damage anyways

I never thought as Voruna as all that good at anything, maybe if her stealth didn't break when she attacks. Kullervo is amazing for melee but I prefer Rhino for greater overguard (Kullervo caps at 13,000), a damage buff that also helps the squad, his charge helps _some_ with mobility, and the damage and CC from the stomp. Kullervo is great but I'm not a huge fan of having to customize weapon mods to suit the frame that's using them. A strong contended for me would be Stalker, you can only play him in Duviri but his stealth actually lasts and he does insane damage while it's up, and his mark/teleport combo can obliterate large groups. Plus his ult gives him pretty damn great defense, in addition to stealth just making him untargetable.
Man, my boy Gauss doesn't get enough credit. He doesn't give as much damage as these two in the video, but he gives tons of attack speed and he's tanky enough with Kinetic Plating and mobile enough with Mach Rush that melee is super comfortable on him
I like using Oberon, lock in the buffs on your party and fallow through on the swings.

You should try a Ceramic Dagger Incarnon build with Gauss Prime , i promise you it goes very well together if you have the augment mod for mach

I absolutely love using Voruna, she's a powerhouse. Kullervo brings more to the table but for me personally I just have more fun using Voruna.

The problem with Valkitty is that the Hysteria stance is bad, but with recent updates she can do billion damage crits in Hysteria so any forced Slash proc anywhere in the stance combos means she can do invulnerable level cap pressing 3 buttons. It's a sticky problem for DE to solve without a ground-up rework and there are actual bad frames that need the love more...
Kullervo is so strong, but is he really a melee type of warframe though ?
If you look at it you spend the majority of your time pressing the abilities, it's faster to chain ennemies then pressing 1 to kill them all than to actually melee them.
you do take time to benefit the red crit buffs though but not as much as you'd expect, i mean if you see a group of like 5 ennemies, you're already throwing that chain again.
What about A Wukong with Kullervo's ability though ? He'd probably sit next to Voruna!
It's admittedly a little fringe, but recently I've tried running Excalibur as a melee frame to surprising results
As a melee enthusiast, it was always between Kullervo and Excalibur.
I think Voruna is really good don't get me wrong, but she always felt way too clunky and would consistently get overpowered by Excalibur's Furious javlin buff the higher the enemy density, which in a horde shooter is literally the whole point. Even Kullervo deals less damage then Excal cuz he only buffs Crit chance and doesn't have any final damage multipliers when Excal has 2 with his 3's augment, and his 2's blind that gives +700% stealth damage bonus. but at least Kullervo has a built in marked for death which easily gives him the highest KPM out of all the 3 frames.
the community seem to be sleeping on excalibur to be honest. In public lobbies I usually find myself having 80-90% of dmg and the lions shares of kills in all content until level 600. I think most people just dont understand how to use him.
@@Kae_Nynthey are not. Excalibur has Line of sight issues which make his buff unreliable. His damage is highly inconsistent and he is way more fragile as well
@@Kae_Nyn yeah, he is just like volt, as in his Ability descriptions literally don't tell you anything, you really have to read the wiki to find out how he works. most people still have no idea that his 2 indirectly boosts damage and that his 1 requires a stat stick. most people see the wall of text from the abilities page of frames like Kullervo and Voruna and they assume that they must be better cuz they have seem to do more.
Voruna is hands down the strongest melee frame no contest. Kullervo is also very good, but the fact that his best ability is his Helminth downgrades his power monopoly. Also Voruna + CO is generally very similar in damage to Red Crit Kullervo with no priming, and she significantly surpasses his damage with his Helminth over her 4. Voruna's Status spread from her 2 alongside using Melee Influence on her gives her very similar KPM and area coverage as Kullervo. She also has unlimited energy, status immunity so her Exilus slot is free and she doesn't need Rolling Guard, and her base shields are low so she's great at shield gating (plus she's not using a secondary so Augur Reach + Augur mods on Secondary are her full shield gate with Catalyzing and she doesn't need Brief Respite). She's also not clunky, do people not know how to play her? You cast 3 and it's up for the rest of the mission, then your combo is just cast 1, when you see an enemy you want to melee press 2, melee, cast 1 when your crit damage buff from 1 expires, cast 2 on a new enemy, repeat. She's just cycling 2 abilities to gain damage and move around while shield gating and being invisible outside of combat, and the rest of your time is just spent doing melee. She's super fluid and jumps around the map. It's her 4 that's clunky which isn't used on good Voruna builds.

getting rid of kul 4 makes it hard or impossible to constant heavy attack which wih how fast he can want to. each hit from storm to a chained enemy in the sotrm is keeping counter up. maybe the roar is = 12x combo?
wrathful advance mechanics have problems as sometimes im waiting for extended amount of time unable to cast 'ability in use' have moved on to have the skill finsh and be drug back. it should be unlinked for the heavy attack windup. i have trouble figureing out if it is that or the recompense animation the game is tring to sort out
i say this because of how smoothly both vorunas warp attacks function. instant smooth
kullevero is the better tank until his overguaard is gone and there isnt 4 enemys to make recompense spamable as it will run the animation (3 blades per enemy 10 blades the timer till the blades return unaffected by casting speed as far as i can tell which is 1 reason why i learned how much kull loves range.....untill constantly teleporting into walls or over ledges lol is 60M too much no because linking 45m of enemies....thats like one of the long rooms in the void tileset....lol)
conversly voruna has a built in oh-shit kit that is fairly reliable but if nothing is dying your not healing so they are both lacking in the sense of needed enemies to survive (ironically)

kul is about spanking...(anyone else hear him yelling 'NOO' when going after demolists? lol) and its so easy to maintain a 12x spank vs voruna who has to work at it but will almost always beat him when she does (speculation)

My Preference is Kullervo because he's more chill to play imo, just stack a bit of Overguard with his 2, after that Wrathful with Incarnon Hate and occasionally pop the 3 for nuking rooms full of Enemies. Just personal Preference, not saying that he's objectively better :)
Only real gamers will agree that:

that constant noise from overguard breaking and spamming his 2 makes him double not that cool. But cant deny that easy damage cap numbers.
Still doesn't have a proper build for Kullervo so I'm going for Voruna. I think she can go toe to toe with kullervo if she has a melee influence and a weapon that can force proc electric dmg on heavy attack.
Valkyr best. Especially now with new melee Arcane, Tennokai, Archon shard, good operator skill, subsume abilities and easy energy sustain available. If you don't mind proton snap, she is evil. Even without slash or armor strip, valkyr can just do knockdown and do ground finisher and ignore armor. With new tools she can suck enemies into one place, knocking all of them down and do damage that completely ignore armor while having highest multiplier on finisher, higher base damage because exalted weap, higher effect from mod because of set mods. Baruuk is cool but he can't play as braindead and projectile get nothing from CO. Slide attack makes them both less weak to nullifiers too. People have exceed damage cap with these frames if I remembered correctly.
Kullervo is the best melee frame in the game and it's not even close. His best ability is collective curse without a shred of doubt and the damage spreading of it is what makes him the best.
I don't care if you can have an incarnon weapon with a riven with primed reach to get 10 meter attack range.
Collective curse reaches 60+ meters and has 0 damage fall-off from followthrough.
I am going to TLDR a long story and say since 2017 if it is melee focused, slap it on ash prime with his smoke screen augment pump up that duration and "let the bodies hit the floor let the bodies hit the floor let the bodies hit the ..... FLOOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Then in spy mission drop a bit of duration for range and slap on fatal teleport. Great way to get past laser beams if there is a vent or enemy on the other side of it. Otherwise if you are pressing 1 or 4, you are "playing wrong"
Now for those interested in the story:
I started playing in 2017, my first warframe was Excalibur. He lasted 2 months until I got MR 2 bought some plat and traded for ash prime. Since then EVERYTHING I did was with ash prime. Jade shadows dropped and I decided to look into retiring Ash. Dante came close, but I love me some smoke screen and the big juicy red crits I was getting with him.
Well i do count baruuks exhalted weapon as a melee aswell. and for me its between baruuk and kullervo.. but to be honest kullervo is just so strong
