Really nice documentary. Thank you for posting. Decades ago, I met Leon "Whitey" Thompson whole touring Alcatraz for a book signing. He told the crowd he was transferred from Alcatraz to San Quinton. I asked him how the prisons compared to one another. I'll never forget his response. He said, "San Quinton was a college campus compared to Alcatraz".
Thank you for your kind words. I never thought much about Alcatraz before my visit. It is now engrained in my memory. It’s amazing how many people have a story to tell.
@lockdownfilms1057 Thank you! I'm Lakota from North and South Dakota? One of my best friends is from the Hopi Tribe from the Arizona and New Mexico area? Seeing that at the end of the hit me hard in a good way. He never told me about Alcatraz? But I'm sure he knows the story. And now I'm gonna ask him when I share this video to him. They are a peaceful tribe even back then.
it was so striking for me to see this and was more taken by fact it seemed to be almost hidden away. I spoke to a lady signing books who was a little girl, her father a director at Alcatraz and she told me about the annual meeting by native Americans which she attends every year. I hope you get to find out even more. Regards Martin
