If you truck hard to start in the winter you can put a mechanic light under the hood the old style lite bulb 100 watt get real hot it keep it warm under the Hood remember to remove the lights infront of the radiator best location
Love watching Mara help you work around the shop and expecialy on her wrecker. You are making a awesome vehicle Eric can't wait to see what you have in mind for the ending of the project.
Personally I would have moved the springs in board and did a shackle reversal at the same time rather then moving the perches out. Now you may run into tire to leaf spring clearance problems. Also the ride is way better with a shackle reversal. As a side note invest in some flapper wheels. Way faster then the abrasive wheels for cleaning welds up.
Eric, I love your videos. Do me a favor and use the safety locks on that new lift. I have seen so many videos of accidents when the lift either doesn't have a lift, or locks not used. We want you guys around for a long time.
@@johnstark4723 still needs to be in good safety practice, plus, the stands are good for front, not back, so if anyone is working under back end, they are hooped, just thinking safety here.
Brand new lift like that the safety latches are automatic when he's lifted it up, the clicking noise you hear is the safety latches as they go through their stops.@papatomsthoughts
Eric, have you considered a shackle reversal for that truck? The only con i think they have is the need for a long travel driveline, but otherwise I think they wheel better and drive better.
Please get some eye protective, my auto shop teacher friend just lost his eye not to long ago, and he was using a face shield, went right through it! He's a Shop Teacher and one of the safest people I know, now he has a glass eye, he also had to have a plate put in place of his eyebrow, I shouldn't have to tell you guys, it sucks losing an eye, getting hurt or worse! You guys are such good people, and I'm loving this project, but don't be stupid, wear eye protection! TJs life has dramatically changed, and luckily they didn't throw him out of the Coast Guard, he actually scored better on the shooting range, but I'm sure we would all rather have our eyes , great work, keep it up, just be safe 👍
Hey Eric, A little work here, a little work there and the project gets closer to usable. In the not so distant future Mara is going to have a smile on her face that only time can remove. Her Blondie will be a working wreakar. Take Care
Curious, did you consider checking the pinion angle before you welded the spring pads to the housing? It would eliminate the need for shims later to get the pinion angle right for the driveline
i would strengthen under the weld on spring perches i have used that style and they will bend i had good luck on a mopar weld on they are shorter n stronger
And just how long did it take to cut that “notch” ? Looks like it took a minute or two. 😳🤯 Love seeing the builds! Along with other TH-camrs maybe slap a turbo on the sno cat! 🙏❤️😎🤙🛻💨
Yeah, hogging out the spring perch's so the nut will fit isn't the right way to get the center bolts to line up. Flipping them in the springs was the way to go.
Ever hear of "Sea Foam" spray lubricant. About 100 times better than old "WD-40" !! It really makes your life more pleasant when tackling 50 year old rust !! Spray up everything you're gonna crank on the next day and " bingo" a crank of your ratchet and you'll be amazed. Works wonders on engines that have sat unstarted for several years. Spray whole can down carb before it runs and while running and they make the shit in liquid form to pour into tank, really gets lifters, rings, carb parts, and much more loosened up. She might smoke like a bitch for 50 miles but it is GOOD smoke !!!!!!! p.s. DANG COOL TRUCK ---HOPE YOU GO WITH CHEVY DRIVE LINE!!!!
Hey Mara !!! Better be ready for ALL the ""Blond"" Jokes that will be coming with ""BLONDIE ""!!! HAHA 🙂🙃😉😉😊 Eric,, Is that axle set to the angle that the driveshaft needs to NOT be in a stress with the U-Joint ?? 🤔🙄👍👍👍👍👍
My 5 year old son is the reason I quit. He would hide my cigarettes and ash tray. He finally said ( I don't want you to die.) So the moral is (If not for you then do it for someone who loves you.
Great work but some ppe would be a great addition. Especially knowing how many kids are big fans, it's just irresponsible. That includes utilizing the locks on the lift
As an ex-smoker, Mara... You really should quit. You'll be amazed how much better you will suddenly start feeling. I smoked for 17 years and I do not regret quitting.
I think this video was good for this content. Making this video longer would just add more grinding which isn't that interesting. A video that shows what is happening and the interesting points along the way is better than worrying about the video length, it will be as long as it needs to be.
Let her sleep because she is not really feeling well and should never have started on a recovery truck for her and she will hurt herself and you have to stop what you are doing to rescue her all the time
Always good to see an experienced mechanic work. Simplicity
Blondie is coming right along. Can't wait to see Mara out doing recoveries.
"Blondie" the recovery truck should adopt the motto "Call Me!"
Well done Eric. It's nice seeing your shop work as well as your recoveries.
Loving the progress can’t wait tell the day I have myself a shop much love and respect 🙏

Work on Blondie is coming right along! I'll bet Mara is getting excited to get it out on the trail!
I'm glad your going with leafs on blondie they have proved there reliable and if they do break there's ways to fix them to get out of the woods.

It wasn't going to come down on him as he had the jackstands under the axle. They would handle the weight of this truck.

Much smoother ride. My son is planning that change to his 96 F350 4x4 crew cab. He uses it as a chase truck for our desert offroad race team.
Flipping those spring bolts would be the perfect time to schmoo some anti sieze so the bolt doesnt rust inside the hole
Good looking job. A lot of thought going into it.
Thanks for making
Coming together great job

Caster is more important, and yes we were checking.
It looks as though the spring will be near the original perch.
i would strengthen under the weld on spring perches i have used that style and they will bend i had good luck on a mopar weld on they are shorter n stronger
For the webbing i would have tried to use the plasma for most of it then touched it up with the grinder like you did with the pad

That ole Jeep presents extremely well in White. Hmmm, could be called Seatcover's White Denim Jeep.
I never re-use U-Bolts
Same with spring center bolts.
Used U bolts are fine for mock up. Same for used center bolts.
Awesome job
Going to be a nice truck
Good job!
Blondie! She's going to be a rugged beast Can't wait to see her in action.
❤ The videos
Looking good
See you in march
Hey you might of said in a previous video, but are you going to the wrecker games this year?
Oh ya!
Definitely coming along are you taking your wrecker or seat covers wrecker for the off road wrecker games in march
We have a new surprise for you.
keep the clips coming

Wow, that was a lot of metal to cut out Eric I hope you didn't hurt your strength with it. Nice work Eric you could have used a little help.
Thanks for posting the video. I'm doing a spring under on the same type of vehicle with same axle. What pinion angle did you go with?
the relevant angle on the front is caster, and we retained the factory caster angle.
Great video
Seat cover / Eric.........Safety glasses and ear protection!!!!!
Hey bro you really should get a couple of military axles.
Will BLONDIE be ready and running in Matt's Offroad Games in March 2024?
Typically it is easier to get the bolt to fit than it is the nuts...😂
P.S i hope Eric checked his pinion angles before he welded the perches in place
Did you build any caster angle when mounting the spring perches?
Yes we did.
