Finding Old Coal Mine Opening, Elk River, Webster County, West Virginia

we found the opening to the old Paulcille Mine once operated (along the Elk River in Webster County, West Virginia) during the 1930s by the Webster Sewell Coal Company. It is believed that an explosion on October 23, 1939 led to the eventual closure of this mine. By the looks of the collapsed rocks at the mine opening, it appears that a good 80 years have passed since this mine was in operation.
