Thanks to Mikes, Damon, Sherry and the rest of the crews- I work in people's homes doing install and repairs of things- i look around at items come across in episodes- Thanks for all the info provided and the amazing entertainment (sorry it is at the home owner's expense) I love this show for the take away value !
In New Zealand there was a case where the building inspector was doing insulation installation inspections. He forgot his tablet at one of the inspected houses. When he returned he found the builders removing the insulation to put in the next house in the construction area. The inspector was not impressed. Who knows how many houses are signed off but not insulated...
Wow, what a complicated mess! This is one of the biggest projects I have seen. "Really enjoying the full episodes, but cannot wait to see part two! Maybe Sunday or Monday please"!
I use watch Holmes on homes back when we lived on the horse farm near Calgary,ab . Use watch his show all time back in early 2000’s. We sold are farm back 2016, both my dad and leaned a lot from his show and helped use improved our old farm house. A lot these episodes are quite old. Most are from 2010-2015 times. Where is part 2? I looked thru your list but can’t find episode 215. I expects most these videos are randomly being uploaded by bot or somebody don’t really care. Love Mike Holmes. Please upload part 2 please.
Dear lord, imagine buying a house like that and being faced with having to pay those bills alone, you effectively are buying 1 house for the price of 2.
Remember, the owners do not pay full price--they have to be fully extended even to get into the mix. In the behind-the-scenes episode a while ago, one of the producers explained that the costs come from lots of sources, like the network, the providers, and adverts; the owners might end up paying 10-15% if they can. Considering that these rebuilds cost many hundreds of thousands of dollars, that's not too bad.
Every one of these I keep thinking "Why can you not sue the home inspector or previous ownet? Here in the UK you get a qualified surveyor to look at it. If he screws up he gets sued. If bad enough he can lose his qualification. Likewise there are a huge list of queztions that sellers have to answer. "Have you had work done" Is tjere any issues with plumbing/electrical, etc?" If hey lie they are liable. Yet it always seems lile bad inspectors, dodgy builders and lazy developers seem to get away with things wholesale.
when its properly maintained and put in properly yes it can last 20 years. however, for safety reasons 10 years is max on any furnace that uses gas or electrical heating. the reason is simple: you don't want a gas or electrical fire in your home.
I swear, if you want the laundry room in the basement, put in an elevator. When I remodeled my house, I put the laundry room upstairs. It is shocking to see how little clean fabric goes downstairs.
If they moved my laundry room to the basement without asking me, I'd have a fit. 3 stories, with a baby? Yikes!! Unless they put a shute in to carry clothes downstairs, that's a lot of carrying stuff down to flights of stairs.
It seems to me that there are more problems with the inspectors missing huge obvious issues. If they are pointed out, would anyone buy a house in Canada?
Mike is one of the best, but I think he's missing an important point - every homemaker I've ever talked to LOVES having the washer/dryer on the floor where the bedrooms are. Think about it: you take the dirty laundry, carry it down one or more flights of stairs, wash it, dry it, fold it, then carry it UP one or more flights to put it away, only to be used all over again. The convenience of having laundry just steps away from the bedrooms CANNOT be overstated! A dedicated laundry in the hall by the kids' rooms is a MUST! Ask around, you'll hear nothing but praise!
theres a lot down here in the states too. i live in a rental in west tennessee, this house is a fucking dump. poorly ventulated, poorly insulated, and poorly maintained. theres paint so old its chipping, the shingles have storm damage that was never repaired. the floor is chipping. and when me and my father tried to buy a home in a town bout 20 miles to the east, we found we had to hire a home inspector. that home was a less dump than this one is but still structually unsafe. inspector came that was hired by the bank. i knew what the inspector said about the house needing only a new roof and some new wiring was BS. the floor in that house was loose, you could bounce on it and it rattled EVERYTHING in the house. and now im in a bigger dump in the town my dad was born in, and its the same exact problems, but much worse. whats worse, is a development company owns this property that we rent, and they replaced a vented gas heater with a unvented gas heater. im weary about the plumbing work now too, because it broke twice when it should've been done right the first time on day one during the winter. never let your bank hire a home inspector, get one from the state or province you live in.
Never go with an inspector that the money or realtor people suggest. My husband did ours. He does building maintenance at a college and knows his stuff!
That house was likely sold for around $400k to $500k. With all those problems you can be sure the price for them is sitting around $200k to $300k, with current prices. it would be better to tear it all down to ground level and build it up from scratch!
I'd want to see the people they paid to fix stuff have to cover the cost of their crappy work. Plus the folks who fixed/replaced the furnace, why didn't they tell them the things Mike found. That would have meant more business for them. SMH
We here in Europe rarely have a garage underneath our homes and of course I understand it is better to not have any car fumes in your home. But what the hell are Canadians doing? They leave their car running the entire day in the garage with the doors closed? You drive in, turn off your car and close the door. How much carbon monoxide is really released from that? I think there is more bad stuff to breathe in when you are driving the highway.
You need to come do a visit our house we rent so my landlords can really see how un safe our house is we rent for 900 a month to have it fall in on us one day reach out to me please help mike
Brit here, yet ANOTHER poor inspection! Why isn't there a National Register for inspectors? Proof of qualifications-bad reports, customer complaints etc?
please give us part 2 ASAP !!!
Yea I can't wait but then again they sure got taken to cleaners

even though it 's 20 years old there is so much learn from it.

Wow, what a complicated mess! This is one of the biggest projects I have seen. "Really enjoying the full episodes, but cannot wait to see part two! Maybe Sunday or Monday please"!
Yes part II !
I've learned so much from watching too much Holmes, that I can proudly say I can apply to Mike's clean up crew 😂.
I really wanted to see the finished product. I am sure it was amazing 😊
a rare 2 parter, dang they screwed that house up
Part two please ❤
That wife is so danged cute! I love her facial expressions! This house would be better torn down and start over.
Cant wait for the next part

@@DenaliDad I am talking from the point of view of people who are not getting to be on a show like this and end up with the actual bills in full.
I want to see round 2
Where is part two!!! Been a week and still itching to see the results
th-cam.com/video/Mp-A5Vd1G0I/w-d-xo.html part 2
I’d like to know if the other homes in the development have the same issues from shoddy original construction?
Wow! That is truly a MONEY PIT. I would be pissed at whoever did this build.
This is an old episode as of April 2024 so where can i find episode 2.
It doesnt seem to be in the video collection on this site.
After watching so many of theses videos, I need to move to Canada and become a house inspector! Seems like easy money, I guess you don't get sued.
Every one of these I keep thinking "Why can you not sue the home inspector or previous ownet? Here in the UK you get a qualified surveyor to look at it. If he screws up he gets sued. If bad enough he can lose his qualification.

Come on, Mike, do it right, man! Give us part 2!😢😊

Does anyone know what happened with the homes Mike Holmes was on the advertisements. Then some of the homes had to be demolished.
I'm where can I go to watch part 2 to this episode
I miss the father of Steve Graves.
Furnace can last 20 years but lots of scummy HVAC companies will say oh 10 years, ya that's old you need to replace it.
IF properly maintained
when its properly maintained and put in properly yes it can last 20 years.

At least it isn't as bad as the house they fully demolished and rebuilt.
That I beam and doubling up was overkill all they had to do was get a lvl and break the difference
Has part 2 posted?

This house gives Holmes on Holmes "Lein on Me" a run for it's money!
Until you have lived through something like this it’s hard to understand how it can happen.
What a money pit. Can't wait for part two
Where is part 2?
Seems like there's a lot of unscrupulous contractors up there.

@LatmaTVulpanstudent I agree. I love mike. It's the unscrupulous work he has to fix I meant.

I personally think the home owners got Jipped there were more problems than Mike and his crew could handle i hope Mike crew can make it right

👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Most people would cry,not laugh.
I think Lee homes inspectors walk around with the eyes closed
Who writes the titles?! There is no “nursery” mentioned in this episode.
They mentioned their son was sleeping in that room before they realized how cold it was.
Did those home owners EVER notice a smell?
The home inspector did his job and got a fat commission plus your fee, because you bought the house.

The title is wrong to it's from season 4 part 1 of 2 called looks are deceiving. There was a part 2 filmed but I can't find it yet
Holmes Inspection only ever had 2 seasons.
You'd have to be blind too not see the roof is shot.
He tapes down his suit, but doesn't wear gloves?
