How to clean window and door tracks in a few steps so they move smoothly and look great using items from your kitchen No scrubbing needed! Visit H2Obungalow.com for the written instructions.
I moved into my condo a week ago and today my project is cleaning the window sills and tracks. So glad I found your channel. I'm going to the hardware store to buy the 3 in 1 product then will get started. Thank you!
That's awesome! It made such a difference in y windows. I never noticed how dirty they were until I went to clean them. I'm sure yours looked great after also!
If you're going to do this much, you may as well lift the window out also so you can get at the whole track better. Going to clean mine today after I find some lube.
"When combined, vinegar (an acid) and baking soda (a base) fizz (the reaction) and cancel each other out, which is an awesome science experiment for the kiddos. This fizz is caused by a chemical reaction, resulting in basically salty water which neutralizes the cleaning power of both ingredients."
As often as your windows need it. I haven't had to do a big cleaning like this since this video. I keep them clean by wiping out the tracks every now and then. Ours were really gross from the prior owner of the house. I don't think he ever did a stitch of housework!
So how did you come to find or decide to use this three in one lock dry lube? Certainly isn’t the application that the product was made for so I’m just trying to understand how or why you decided that it was the product to use. Thank you
Just because it's for locks doesn't mean it won't work. I decided to use the dry lube because it wouldn't turn gummy on the window components. Regular oil would attract dirt. Hope that answers your question!
Hi Roli, That's a good question. There isn't any scent and I don't recall a strong chemical odor. I think it smells a little chemical when it's first sprayed, but it goes away quickly. Hope that answered your question!
H2OBungalow, Thanks for this video Wendy! Do you know how is 3-in-1 lock dry lube different from triflow? I have tri-flow and wanted to try this. sensegrove, I was searching to find out if I should use WD-40, Triflow or silicon lubricant (like what I use for my foozball table.) this forum I found in a search forums.finehomebuilding.com/breaktime/general-discussion/lubricant-vinyl-windows included this advice: 1) Don't use oil or WD40 2) Do use Either a silicone lube or a teflon lube (TriFlow). Other searches say WD40 attracts a lot of dirt and grime after you apply it.

These are such great tips - it’s inexpensive and worth the labor and time to maintain good windows !! Learned that the hard way
Thank you! Yes, easy to do and can make the windows last so much longer!

were these wood or vinyl windows? Does that spray work for wood?
Spray the upper track too.
upper track? top of the window?
Fantastic wendy,, thanks for that great info..
You're welcome
Just don't put too much lubrication there as that then starts attracting dirt and eventually turns in to a sort of gummy goo.
Good video, though I wish you'd done a close-up of where you actually did the spray.
Thanks so much. I sprayed into the lock mechanism. It’s an older video and there’s always a learning curve!
looked easy, but did not get the name of the spray or saw name on can, thanks for the tip.
Great video thank you very much
You are very welcome
Baking soda, sprinkle, plus lemon juice is how I clean stovetop. Similar to white vinegar.
👌🏾 very nice
What is the name of your vaccum cleaner
George
Nifty little shop vac. What make and model is that?
You know, it's been a while since I made that video. Unfortunately, I can't remember. Sorry!

This method works great. The fizziness is what helps break up the crud in the window tracks.
Thumb up for not using wd40
What is the name of machine
How often should this be done on a normal basis?
As often as your windows need it. I haven't had to do a big cleaning like this since this video. I keep them clean by wiping out the tracks every now and then. Ours were really gross from the prior owner of the house. I don't think he ever did a stitch of housework!
Thanks for your reply. I have Liquid Wrench Dry Lubricant to apply to my tracks after getting them cleaned. I've heard that this works well.
You're welcome! Enjoy your clean window tracks!
Did you use regular or distilled vinegar ?
Regular vinegar will work just fine.
Hi Shan,, that's a good question, I just used regular vinegar!

And right on the product it says it's OK for wood too.@@WendiWachtelH2OBungalow
Does that lubricant have fumes?
No, not really. I smells a little like an oil but not strong.
What about side tracks on hung windows?
It will work on those too!
Does the spray has any scent or chemical odor ?

It smells a little like oil but not terribly strong.
I opened my sliding glass window & it just came off the track. What can I do?
You should be able to place it back in the track. :)
What if your window goes up and down instead of side to side
I'd still clean the sills on the bottom, wipe the sides and lubricate them.
@@WendiWachtelH2OBungalow Thanks for the help
@@ezekialworstein3265 You're welcome!
Is it safe to pour all that water into the window?
Yes it is, there are drain holes to the outside.
Can you use WD-40 for lubrication ?
Yes, you can also use WD-40. But this works better and is less greasy.
Yes, you can but it's greasy compared to this product. I think this is better also because it doesn't attract dirt like the WD-40 would.
H2OBungalow,
Thanks for this video Wendy!
