You mentioned that you weren't sure if regular lysol wss better than the clinging bleach. My husband and I have been using this trick in our shower for years. The clinging gel lysol is the winner. :)
I'm a professional tile/grout cleaner and we use straight 3% peroxide (15% concentration works faster) and it actually bubbles up within five minutes and wipes like new. Want it faster? use a scrubber brush. We spray on the Peroxide and no need to get on your knees. You can add in the baking soda which is used as a scrubber agent but frankly not needed since it's a mess to clean up. Mop up hot water rinse twice. >>>>>Don't forget to use grout sealer when dried.
I used denture tablets. After I soaked the dentures for a few minutes and instead of spilling down the sink I used it in the grout and let sit a few minutes then scrubbed and rinsed. Did bathroom grout and didn’t even strain. Awesome results!!! Who would have thought.
I am blown away by this! I have tried cleaning the bathroom grout since we moved in a year ago. It was literally black. I have tried everything to get this clean, no go. I was desperate enough to run to Walmart this morning and bought the Clorox fo only $2.37. I rubbed it into the grout really good and left for an hour. When I came back, my grout was ALL white and matched the rest of the upper shower grout! I cannot thank you enough for this video!!!
Ladies, Clorox Toilet Bowl Cleaner IS THE WINNER!!!! Ding ding ding ding ding!!! I will be using it for my bathrooms and kitchen. Thanks for sharing!!!
I have a McCullough steamer and it's amazing! The best thing about it is that there's not a bunch of cleaning product to clean up afterwards. And it gets hot enough to kill germs!
I bought a grout brush with a long handle so I can stand up straight. I can no longer get down on my hands and knees to scrub with a toothbrush. It made the job so much easier and faster.
I used this on my shower tiles last night, because they were embarrassingly gross, and was amazed by the results. I tried what seemed like everything in the past, and thought that my grout was bad/old and needed to re-grout. I was at a loss. Then I saw this video and thought I'd give it a whirl. OMG! My shower looks brand new! Grout looks like it was basically freshly done! I do like more natural options, like vinegar and baking soda, but that didn't do anything. I'm so so happy with my shower now!! This was marvelous!
I just did my very OLD OLD stained bathroom floor yesterday using the peroxide/baking soda/dawn detergent combo. I applied it with a brush, let sit for 5 minutes.. AMAZING!!! The tile was put in back in 1954 so you can only imagine!
My daughter let's hers sit for 30 minutes then mops up and rinsed. The solution you mixed wasn't watery enough. We mix it so it pours easily out of a spoon.
I just finished to clean the grout in my whole house! AJAX (powder )and BRUSH ! Came out New . Easy, cheap and does the job! Tip ..if you have skate board or anything low with wheels you can sit on .. make it so much easy on your knees
I used the toilet bowl cleaner, Lysol, because it’s not supposed to etch your tile. I used a broom after letting it sit for 15 minutes. Came out fantastic. I have tried Dawn, baking soda and vinegar, but had to scrub vigorously and more than once. Toilet bowl cleaner is the way. Good video. Thanks
Dollar Tree has a product called Awesome. I used it to clean some grout on my kitchen floor. Let it sit for awhile, 10 minutes or so. Wipe off with clean rag. I really liked how it came out.
A word of caution, I used the toilet bowl cleaner in my shower which has white grout -- the grout towards the bottom of the shower now has a blue-ish tinge. I assume it came from the coloring that's in the cleaner. I've tried numerous times to get the blue color off, but nope! It appears to be stained permanently. I guess at the bottom because it had the longest exposure as the cleaner dripped down the wall. It did work well on the top part of the shower walls.
I’ve found hydrogen peroxide useful. However I haven’t had to do grout in shower in over a year: I put a few drops of rea tree oil in a spray bottle, add water . After every shower I spray tiles, and caulk line. The only place that I needed to clean after a year is the corner where I routinely keep shampoo bottle. This year I will move shampoo to a different corner Q shower
Love the cleaning hack for the shower. I have a suggestion to make rinsing the shower easier for you--remove the wall shower head and in its place install a handheld shower head. The long hose on the hand held allows you to rinse all the shower walls by simply aiming the shower head wherever you want. I discovered handheld shower heads years ago and would never looked back.
If you're in the kitchen there's a dog wash sprayer hose attachment that fits on the sink faucet or in the bathroom the shower head that's useful and removable.
Agreed! And if you rinse the shower walls with the hottest possible water after you take a shower you wont have to clean them very often at all. Just dry the glass off with your shower towel, throw it in the wash and you’re done! 😊
Andrea Jean Cleaning, you are amazing. I love tha fact that you respond every single comment; other people don't even bother to look at them. Have a great day and thanks for your valuable info.
I used the peroxide and baking soda my grout is like new and I dont have to imagine cleaning it up because I did clean it. Not hard at all. Just wait for it to dry and sweep before you mop. Cheap and non toxic
May I recommend that after all that work you invest in Grout Sealant. It will help repel dirt, oils and other grime for at least a year and sometimes more (depending on the quality of the grout sealant used). We did our house tiles a year ago under COVID and we too found the same results that you did but we also used a brush. Our 25 year old tile grout looked almost brand new, it was incredible and it still looks clean.
I have been using the toilet bowl cleaners to clean my grout for years, but I vacuum it up with a floor mate cleaner and then I seal the floor with grout sealer, It lasts for two years, and I just mop with clean water and a small amount of pinesol weekly. My floors are gorgeous and easy to keep clean even with 6 small dogs in my house.
How do u clean urine stains in grout? I've been trying to figure out best way so I can re-seal. I never thought the cat would live this long in my new house. She's 22 yrs old. I've tried it all.
If you put the toilet bowl cleaner with bleach and leave it about 30 minutes, then wipe it up. Then wipe it up, it should remove it. If it’s absorbed by the grout, try liquid bleach for about a minute then wipe it up. But you have to seal that grout. It will absorb everything if it’s not sealed
Toilet bowl cleaner is so much easier! Works very well, not so messy! I used it like she did, after wiping up the dirty cleaner I hit it with a steam cleaner them wiped up again with towel. Then cleaned entire floor with steam and toweled dry! Came out excellent!
I think you really need to use a grout brush (or toothbrush) to see what these chemicals can do. I worry about the longterm effects of bleach on tile unless it's rinsed and would probably prefer the other two. Also, as a general rule, don't use different cleaners right next to one another! I know that they were benign and in small amounts here, but plenty of people have gotten hurt from mixing ammonia and bleach.
Your EXACTLY RIGHT to inform her of that and not to mention she's pregnant too! Nice advice. Bleach and ammonia are a severely toxic GAS when combined! Surprised I have a brain and lungs left.
Toilet bowl cleaner goes a long way. If anyone wants to use it on their grout they should use an old toothbrush to spread it out. It also leaves residue that requires extra work to get it off. I clean my downstairs floors once a week. I move all the furniture so I can clean under it. In the kitchen I always leave longer lines on my appliances because it’s crazy easy to pull them forward and clean the floor under them. It’s also nice to clean the sides of the oven and refrigerator. I clean in sections and pour a little bit of lemon Lysol on the floor with a little bit of water. I use my Home Depot scrub brush and scrub my floors. Then I spray 409 in the grout and use a toothbrush brush to scrub it up. I throw a couple of my big rags on my shoulder so I have them to wipe everything up. I also use 409 and a toothbrush on my baseboards. You spray a section then run the toothbrush over it and wipe it up with a rag. That is the easiest part and clean baseboards make a room look cleaner. She mentioned in her video that she hadn’t cleaned her floors for like a year and a half. Maybe she meant deep cleaning but that is too long to not clean your floors..Once you start cleaning an area and clean it routinely it is easier to keep it up. I have my handicap son who will scoot around the house on his bottom and his hands are almost always on the floor. I can’t have dirty floors or cleaning products that leave a residue. We have a 90 pound malamute who is getting old and she will drip pee onto the floor. She has bad hips and being a big dog it is harder for her to get up. I also have 3 other kids who are getting older and they have friends in and out of the house all the time. We live in a dry dusty area and just leaving the windows open will bring in a lot of dirt. Then there are the cats. With everything going on in our house it is always dirty and I will try almost anything. But as of now I’m sticking to my current routine. It’s a good routine and I have an inexpensive steamer which I use whenever I can. The steam cleaner gets some of the stains out of our couches and works great on things like kitchen chairs and the tracks on our sliding doors. It also doesn’t require any cleaning products which is cheaper for me and better for my son.
Andrea, I had 7 children within 8yrs... 5 pregnancies with 2 sets of twins... my grout was always awful UNTIL my husband ran across this tip. When my children got in trouble their discipline would be cleaning grout!💡 We used baking soda and white vinegar. We applied the baking soda with a fillable ketchup bottle in the grout then went back and sprayed (in a cheap spray bottle) white vinegar on top. Let fizz (I believe fizzing on the grout is what cleans it) and sit for about 10 min then wipe up. Grout would be beautiful, like new. Unfortunately now that my babies/twins are 18yrs I have to pay them to clean it! 😔🤭
Just did mine with Bar keepers friend and then sprayed a mixture of water, dish soap, and a little white vinegar. Didn’t have to scrub much at all! Try it!
Bar keepers friend with magic eraser works great on shower doors n super dirty bathtubs...otherwise I just use tilex. Spray, let sit for about 10-15 minutes, then rinse, works great
I clean my tile grout like this: at night, I sprinkle baking soda powder and sweep let the powder fills the grout, spray on vinegar, let it sit overnight. The next day, I spray water to wet it and use a tooth brush slightly scrub the grout and then mope clean the floor. My tile floor look like newly install. Formula: baking soda, vinegar, time.
Exactly. A toothbrush is the answer with any paste you make. It doesn't take much effort but a rag like she uses in the video is practically useless. Also, doing a section at a time when it's this dirty makes it easier cleanup, too.
Yes that worked for me very well too: sprinkle baking soda on the grout, spray with vinegar let sit( I let it sit for 5-10 minutes), scrub with a tooth brush, then wipe up. Results were amazing. Little extra work but with it.
Yep, vinegar and baking soda, works like a charm with little scrubbing especially if you use a stiffer scrubber than a tooth brush. And not nearly as expensive as toilet bowl cleaner.
I use the Toilet bowl Cleaning, put it on and use a toothbrush for a quick scrubbing then let it sit. LOVE THIS METHOD. I was curious about the oxyclean .... it does so well to clean stains out of clothes, but NOT the floor, glad you tested for me. Thanks for the video
When I moved into my old apartment my grout looked the same. It took some time but with baking soda, vinegar and a tooth brush I was able to get it looking better. Would never have thought of using toilet cleaner. Makes me want to go back to my old apartment and try it out.
I don’t have a lot of grout but the grout I do have really needs my attention. Thanks for sharing to give me an idea of what to use and the easiest way ❤️
THANKS! i have 4’” terracotta tiles on my Kitchen countertops. a LOT of grout to clean but very pretty! for health reasons, i occasionally wax them them … Your experiment will save me a lot of time!
I use a steamer I got off Amazon, it has a grout tip, I just have to follow the lines I don’t scrub I put it on the highest steam setting. It blast the dirt away. Then I use a towel to wipe up excess water.
I use baking soda with white vinegar. Wait about 10 minutes after applying. The baking soda reacts to the acid in the white vinegar. Use an old toothbrush for scrubbing. Wipe clean and rinse with clean damp cloths, and allow to dry. Don’t forget to seal those grout lines with a quality sealer. Sold at Home Depot. A bit pricey for a great sealer, but use a small paintbrush, and seal only the clean grout lines. A little goes a long way.
I have a disabled son who has a hard time walking. He will sit and scoot around the house which means I have to clean my floors. I clean my floors once a week and that includes under the furniture and appliances. Using any cleaner like comet, bar keepers friend, baking soda etc. will require a lot of extra work cleaning the residue. I have a brush from Home Depot that I love. After I throughly sweep and vacuum the tile and wood floors I start cleaning one section at a time. I use Lysol and my scrub brush on everything. I love the smell of lemon Lysol and that is why I use it. I put a little bit of water on the floor with my Lysol and scrub a section at a time. Then I spray a little bit of 409 on the grout and use a toothbrush to clean it. I don’t need to scrub very hard because I consistently clean. After I finish that I wipe it up with a rag. My son is usually home when I clean and he makes it hard because he is afraid of wet floors and he likes all of my attention. That’s why I started cleaning a section at a time. When the floors are done I like to spray the baseboards with 409. I use the toothbrush and hit the baseboards with it and then wipe it up with a rag. It is super easy and doesn’t take a long time. When it comes to windows I use car wax. I put it on the windows, sliding doors and mirrors. As soon as I am done putting it on I go back to where I started and wipe it off. Sometimes after I clean my counters I will wax them. They are so nice and smooth after that. I will also wax my oven door, microwave door, refrigerator and dishwasher. It’s amazing and you have no streaks. I use Dawn power wash spray and my steamer for my stove top and the inside of my microwave. I use vinegar and water on certain areas that have hard water. For my shower doors I make a paste with vinegar and baking soda. Let it sit as long as possible before you clean it. We have hard water where I live and hard water is a problem. When I don’t use my steamer I just use the dawn soap. It’s amazing and it will cut through the grease buildup on top of the microwave which sits over the stove.
I tested a small ares and w as equally amazed with the ease and astounding results. Thank you so much for this! The other mixtures have not worked for me either in the past and with lots of scrubbing. I have had my grout professionally cleaned and it was very expensive. I have lots of tile, but will do little by little with no effort and save lots of money$$$
If you have a sonic cleaning toothbrush, save one of the old brushes and use it to scrub the grout lines after applying the liquid. Just rub it back and forth while it's vibrating and it will foam up or break the oxiclean or baking soda mixture so you don't get the clumps. Then get a rag and a 5 gallon bucket of hot water and rinse the rag out after you do each section.
OK Andrea Jean you got me hooked. I have seen lots of your vids and love most for their simplicity. I have tile floors in both bathrooms. In all honesty there were redone 11yrs ago. Yep lets just say not clean. I am widowed and live alone except for the Black Dog. In your test I was amazed at the ease of cleaning the grout and the tile floor. So I ran my own test, I am older and getting down on my hands and knees is difficult. I also used a broom and Clorox Cleaner + Bleach (spray) and a Bona mop handle and clean towels. I sprayed the stuff on the floor and the grout and used the stiff broom to get into the cracks and crevices and generally spread it around. Let it sit for about 15min while I watched another "hack" of yours and went back and put the towels on the Bona mop and wiped it up. The results were amazing, the floor looks like new and so does the grout. No real effort involved and the floor is like new. Thanks for your channel and getting me hooked.
I tried cleaning one grout line with toilet bowl cleaner (brand name, not generic). Holy moly!!! I was stunned at how well it worked! The grout looks brand new! Now to do the rest of the tiles/bathrooms, and finish up with grout sealer (PolyBlend Grout Renew).
With oxy, it is imperative to activate it with boiling hot water, that is when it is the most effective at cleaning. I find by the time I mix the water with the oxy it cools too quickly and so doesn’t quite perform as well as it does say in a large container of hot water when soaking dirty laundry. It remains in its crystallised form so just not great for grout cleaning. A mr. clean magic eraser is absolutely the best!
I love using a hot water tile/ grout steamer machine that we rent from Home depot. It took a while to do the whole living room and kitchen but No chemical used and leaves the grout clean and new looking for months.
The main thing is after you get it cleaned is to put on a sealer to keep it that way. The grout changes color from dirt & spills. The dirt gets in the cracks and lays there and then when mixed with mopping becomes mud then dries and lays there gradually turning darker over time. That's what was explained to me by a tile guy. If you don't reseal, it keeps coming back.
Bleach based toilet bowl cleaner makes an awesome shower screen cleaner too. Let it sit on the screen and tiles. Another tip if your shower screen is bad with soap scum, you'll need a blade after soaking the glass in cleaning vinegar. Flat blade in a case, scrape it off. Comes up like new
I have hospitality business, at our properties, toilet bowl cleaner is the most cheapest option among the rest chemicals and it does work, you can also clean your toilet tank flawlessly using toilet bowl cleaner. the key is after applying the chemical, you need to wait about minimum 5 minutes, then use a harsh sponge or hard brush to scrub it. you will love the result
I got a bottle of grout paint and used a tooth brush and just painted it all my kitchen. It was amazing. Looked like they installed a brand new kitchen floor. And they have different colors for your taste. White, cream color, grey...so u go once and that is it. No cleaning after soaps or anything. You should try! I got it in home depot
Did same in our hallways because the grout was no longer the same color when cleaned and it really made a huge difference. IF this method cleans well and is sealed after ,then probably not much advantage to the more expensive grout paint unless you want a new color . I do wonder tho if you clean with strong cleaner or acids like vinegar , if it doesn't strip the seller faster and result in quicker build up.. It does seem a good option if you intend to reseal after and use milder solutions for routine cleaning.
I tried the bleach cleaner and it works very well. Please advise folks the smell of bleach can be overpowering though in small areas. Best to do a little at a time! Thanks for this advice.
When I bought my new home 20 years ago I went to home hardware and applied a grout protector with a toothbrush to the grout through out the house and they look new.
I have found that bleach over time will discolor the grout so that some areas are darker and lighter. It lifts the original color of the grout unevenly over time. Hydrogen peroxide lifts but only as light as the original color. However, with the hydrogen peroxide you'll need to scrub with a grout brush or toothbrush, but you'll also have undamaged, beautiful grout for many years.
But couldn’t you do it once and then seal it? I never sealed mine and I found the toilet bowl cleaner to be very effective. Was hoping to use it as a redo since I never sealed…
When I used to clean houses for a living I always used toilet bowl cleaner and a toothbrush for grout. My clients always loved the results. Another product that works really well is method granite cleaner.
Did you ever use Sno Bol? It's a toilet cleaner. It's great on all things ceramic. It's also great on rust. We have well water. We've since changed our pipes in our well to CPVC pipes. Not so much rust anymore.
Good Videos Andrea Jean! I like the results you got with the toilet bowl cleaner with bleach, however, some of us can not tolerate breathing in chlorine bleach fumes. I have had excellent results with Hydrogen peroxide, but I use it in the form of Nature Clean brand, liquid Hydrogen Peroxide Bleach, on floor-tile grout. But, I do not mix it with baking soda. Personally, I am not a fan of cleaning with baking soda for most surfaces because of the messy product residue clean up and rinsing required. Because the floor is a flat horizontal surface you can just pour/spray the Hydrogen Peroxide alone into the grout lines, wait for 20 to 40 minutes depending on the dirt condition of the grout. Then mop up.
Thank you so much I do have an entire hallway , kitchen and breakfast area that need grout cleaning. Therefore, I will definitely try this since we have a lot of time in this pandemic.
@@matts2488 it'd probably give off some harmful fumes. Even if you can't smell it ... I did something like this by accident once. Lol 😆 don't mix dish soap and LA's totally awesome cleaner .... smelled like ammonia based boxed hair colour 😷
I use the toilet cleaner gel on the grout lines in the shower so easy to apply with the bottle, leave overnight and scrub off in the morning... for a really deep clean...
Thank you for sharing. I was going to re grout but now I’m going to try the toilet cleaner before I commit to a hard job. From a Aitutaki Cook Islander
Hi! Try Woolite Oxy Pet Carpet cleaner in a spray bottle and see if it works easier than the toilet bowel cleaner if you get a chance. I used it in my bathroom on white grout by spraying it wet and then a large firm nylon bristle brush. The floor looked new!
A steamer is the best option. I use one with a long hose, brass scrub attachment and at least 1500 watt.... no bending, no scrubbing no chemicals.. when I used the toilet bowl bleach gel in my bathroom first..I noticed the grout was starting to crumble... and if it's anything other then a light grout color it will bleach out unevenly... the area around my toilets are bleached out and dont match the rest. So the steamer is my go to. I do not use any chemicals anymore other then bleach for my laundry
This Old House had a tip on grout cleaning. Fill grout with white vinegar. Mix water, baking soda, and a couple drops of dish soap. Pour on vinegar and brush with a stiff brush. Wait 5 minutes. Clean off with a clean, damp sponge. Seal grout at least once per year. This works really well. Cleaning/sealing my grout is on my to-do list.
Thank you for making this channel. I HATE cleaning. But when I'm absolutely EXHAUSTED of living in my and my family's mess, I'm SUPER OVERWHELMED and have no clue where to start. You are helping me from running to the store's to buy products like a chicken without a head. I will BUY EVERYTHING!!!! ITS NOT GOOD. 🤦♀️ So thank you very much for helping my head get centered.
I think Oxiclean would of worked better thinner mix & a scrub brush . Why no scrub brush ? A few strokes with all of then might make a big difference. Love your video & you have the perfect voice easy on the ears.I will subscribe
I have recently fallen in love with that toilet bowl cleaner. I used it on my shower grout, which was already mildewed when we bought the house. Even the bad spots look SO much better! And I love the smell too. I've been meaning to try my kitchen grout too!
Please try to limit inhaling chlorine fumes… That is such a toxic chemical to inhale…I used to spray diluted Clorox in my shower every weekend and come out of the room gasping for air… I ended up with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma… Exposure to chlorine fumes/gas is one of the things connected with that cancer… So please be careful!
Do it again with less product and use a brush on all 3. I have used all three and others and I did not get the same result you got. I will stick to my Hydrogen peroxide, soda and I add a little of Dawn. Is not easy and it takes of lot of strength, something I am short off.
The baking soda and peroxide works but it needs time to dry. My floor grout was like charcoal grey when I moved in. My counters' white grout was real dingy too. I scrubbed the counters so hard I wore away some grout! So I was on a mish to find a way to restore their former color. The toilet cleaner is nice but pets and kids don't like to listen about not touching areas and so if they walk in it and track it it's bad news bears. It also kinda leaves that slick residue that bleach inherently has that takes a number of wipes to remove. The soda/h2o2 I found worked wonders in just the first go bringing the charcoal floor grout caked w/ ground in dirty back to it's original beige color. I just made a few modifications to the technique--I sprinkle the soda w the side of a spoon in the grout and then go around and spray h2o2 on all the soda lines. LET IT DRY. I think that's part of the magic. Once dry I go back and spritz to rewet (I originally used water but I figured more h2o2 = more cleaning power lol). I use a toothbrush and just need a very light scrub (vs the grill grade scrubber and serious arm workout I was prev accustomed to). As I scrub a square I wipe it with a damp wash cloth and a bucket or if u really have time you can let it dry again and vacuum all the soda and just wipe the remnants w a hot damp rag.
Vinegar 50% and water 50% and a wire brush works great. I use it all the time. You might need to repeat the same process once or two times depending on how dirty it is. But you will see good results.
With a teething 7mth old and 4 other kids I don't want to spend time which I don't have scrubbing, thank you for sharing I can't wait to try this as soon as I can 🙂
For grout, it’s very important when mopping your floors that you change the water often. If the bucket water turns the slightest shade of gray, dump it out and use fresh hot water. Otherwise, all that gunky dirty water will be absorbed by the grout over time.
Nice video and comparison. I would like to make a suggestion to anyone who may comes across this post... Please be careful about chemicals from one product touch chemicals from another.
I wanted to hand you a toothbrush so badly when you applied the pastes. It makes it easy to apply and gets it easy down in there. For those who prefer not to use bleach, the vinegar and baking soda paste will work pretty well with a little elbow grease.
I had amazing results with vinegar on grout but unfortunately I ended up finding out the hard way that the acid in vinegar will eat away at the grout and break it down. Also, if the grout has ever been painted it will remove the paint 😞 I was bummed when I learned about the damaging effects since it worked so good 😞
I have the exact identical tile down to the color I use shower tile spray with bleach from dollar tree and a long handled scrub brush and I spray and give it a few scrubs and it works instantly- I do a section about 9-12 tiles wide and then rinse with my mop. Goes very quickly then seal your grout after it’s cleaned. Super easy and affordable.
) what does it look like dry 2) put down the peroxide on the tile first then mix baking soda on the crack. the chemical reaction is where the power cleaning happens. 3) same thing with the oxi clean. BTW love how you respond to comments keep up the great work.
I understand that you don't want to have to scrub, but an important point to make is to know what color your original grout color is. I have the same tile, and the grout they used was "Tobacco Brown", and it's supposed to be that dark. The clorox is basically bleaching your grout, as it's cleaning it. However, I do agree that the toilet bowl cleaner is easier to wipe up than the others.
Thank you for this information. From the replies in your comments I learned that bleach will ruin the grout eventually. I think I will try the vinegar with baking soda as mentioned in a comment. I have a question: do you reseal the grout after you're done? I'm getting mixed information on this issue. Thank you so much.
I need to clean the grout in my bathrooms so bad 🙈 but I’ve never found a good grout cleaner. It’s really amazing how they sell products specifically made for this and they never seem to work, but yet Clorox toilet bowl cleaner can do it!

Might as well get virox
I wonder if peroxide is bad for marble shower tiles to get on them.dark spots in my grout around marble tiles are awful.
@@sherirottweilersforever7772same
I have a bottle of peroxide and it already had a spray attached. Spraying now. I needed something fast. 😆
Where can u buy 15% conc peroxide tho?
I used denture tablets. After I soaked the dentures for a few minutes and instead of spilling down the sink I used it in the grout and let sit a few minutes then scrubbed and rinsed. Did bathroom grout and didn’t even strain. Awesome results!!! Who would have thought.
You should not assume only women are watching your videos. I am a man. Thank you as I love cleaning.

Get a life, so what
I am blown away by this!
Be careful as bleach is hard on tile.
Ladies, Clorox Toilet Bowl Cleaner IS THE WINNER!!!! Ding ding ding ding ding!!! I will be using it for my bathrooms and kitchen. Thanks for sharing!!!

Funny how y'all assume only ladies watch these :-)
Is this harmful to the grout?
@@SuperAnnieMoyes it is.

Mel You didn’t say what you used?
I just did my very OLD OLD stained bathroom floor yesterday using the peroxide/baking soda/dawn detergent combo. I applied it with a brush, let sit for 5 minutes.. AMAZING!!! The tile was put in back in 1954 so you can only imagine!
That’s so wonderful Kathy!

Good video. Thanks
Thanks for the tip. Just purchased Lysol (instead of Clorox) clinging gel on Amazon for $2. Too late to return Granite Gold, which didn't work.
Dollar Tree has a product called Awesome. I used it to clean some grout on my kitchen floor. Let it sit for awhile, 10 minutes or so. Wipe off with clean rag. I really liked how it came out.
I need to try that! Thanks Meg ✨
I did that as well, same thing happened.
good to know! thanks
Phew! Saved me! Are there any brands that won’t stain?
I’ve found hydrogen peroxide useful. However I haven’t had to do grout in shower in over a year: I put a few drops of rea tree oil in a spray bottle, add water . After every shower I spray tiles, and caulk line. The only place that I needed to clean after a year is the corner where I routinely keep shampoo bottle. This year I will move shampoo to a different corner
Q shower
Same here. I would not use toilet bowl cleaner in a bath or shower.
Yes a handheld one would be nice 👍 thanks!
I like it
If you're in the kitchen there's a dog wash sprayer hose attachment that fits on the sink faucet or in the bathroom the shower head that's useful and removable.
You are the sweetest ❤️ you too Norma 👍
What grout sealant did you purchase? We are building a home with a tile bath floor and shower and I'm very nervous about what to use!
@@nessabay95 Miracle Sealants Company. I think my husband got it at either Lowe’s or Home Depot.
@@marciabaker2700 Thank you!
Toilet bowl cleaner literally eats away the sealant and the grout over time. I definitely do not recommend doing this.
Used to clean my grout. Never again. Yes it not only did a job on my grout but also changed the color of my tiles.
Something wrong with your elbows? A little elbow grease and a grout brush will really clean up your grout when using Oxi Clean.
Hey what about busy men ? I live by myself and a man. We like to keep our home clean too 😃
The more the merrier 👍👍👍
Word ....
🤣🤣🤣🤣right👊🏽 ima clean freak too.
Well its easy one can identify as anything now
I used AJ's tips for cleaning the toilet tank with citric acid. Worked great! Now I need the clean the shower (without scrubbing hopefully).
No fumes!!!
That's a great story and a great tip!
the fizzing is meaningless
I love the discipline tip! Smart parenting!!
I normally use the toilet bowl cleaner and leave it on for 30min to an hour and I promise you . You will love the results even better.
Nice!!
Just did mine with Bar keepers friend and then sprayed a mixture of water, dish soap, and a little white vinegar. Didn’t have to scrub much at all! Try it!
Perfect! Thanks Heather ✨
Would this work for the tub as well?
It does! Give it a try!
@@TheBee882 if u do not have a porcelain tub the Clorox with gel bleach works wonders
Thank you!
@@sandrawebb544 And no fumes!
Thanks! ❤️
When I moved into my old apartment my grout looked the same. It took some time but with baking soda, vinegar and a tooth brush I was able to get it looking better. Would never have thought of using toilet cleaner. Makes me want to go back to my old apartment and try it out.
Lol!
After watching this last year, I ran out to 2 different Walmarts looking for the Clorox gel. It works great!
I don’t have a lot of grout but the grout I do have really needs my attention. Thanks for sharing to give me an idea of what to use and the easiest way ❤️
Absolutely! It was so fun to experiment with them 😋
THANKS! i have 4’” terracotta tiles on my Kitchen countertops. a LOT of grout to clean but very pretty! for health reasons, i occasionally wax them them … Your experiment will save me a lot of time!
I use a steamer I got off Amazon, it has a grout tip, I just have to follow the lines I don’t scrub I put it on the highest steam setting. It blast the dirt away. Then I use a towel to wipe up excess water.
What's the brand of steamer sounds amazing!!!
Mine is needing done really bad....now I know what I'll use !!! Thanks 😊
I tested a small ares and w
as equally amazed with the ease and astounding results. Thank you so much for this! The other mixtures have not worked for me either in the past and with lots of scrubbing. I have had my grout professionally cleaned and it was very expensive. I have lots of tile, but will do little by little with no effort and save lots of money$$$
That is wonderful!! Thanks Marta ✨
I checked with professional tile installer. He said it should be fine! Thank you so much.love your videos.
That’s great 👍Have a wonderful day!
Lucinda are you referring to how safe bleach is to use on grout?
I would add dish soap with the baking soda and peroxide. That’s what I use for stains on all kinds of surfaces and it always works.
What a fun combo! Thanks ❤️
How much of each?
Used the toilet cleaner with bleach and a grout brush! AMAZING & super easy! It will be my go to from now on AND the best part! Cost was $3!
Wonderful!
Ive used Shout...fabric remover product...since the early 80's....and it's worked real well for me thru the years...👍👍
Thanks for the idea Clayton!
Oh I have that! TY!
I have tons of tile and grout. Thanks for this great comparison.
I love using a hot water tile/ grout steamer machine that we rent from Home depot. It took a while to do the whole living room and kitchen but No chemical used and leaves the grout clean and new looking for months.
Now that sounds like fun 😋
I looked on Home Depot website but couldn't find it :(
In Florida, you can rent a Tile and Grout Steam Cleaner from your local Home Depot.
Thank you for the additional information. Great stuff!!!
Sure did! ✨
That’s a great idea! Thanks 👍
My kitchen is pretty big so that would be quite the process all over my floors lol!
Yes!! Needs lots of ventilation. Thank you Rose ❤️
When I bought my new home 20 years ago I went to home hardware and applied a grout protector with a toothbrush to the grout through out the house and they look new.
Cleaning is man's work too!
You are right about that ✨
Thank you for confirming my idea, that toilet bowl cleaner, might work on grout!!
Hydrogen peroxide plus white vinegar and little bit of baking soda
When I used to clean houses for a living I always used toilet bowl cleaner and a toothbrush for grout. My clients always loved the results. Another product that works really well is method granite cleaner.

Wish I had seen this BEFORE I used baking soda all over my dining room (over 70 tiles) 🥴😭 thank you! ❤
I did the same, was forever cleaning up that baking soda 😩
I just use plain peroxide and let it sit. Forgot it last night and it was dry this AM but was so clean. Redid it tho just to wipe it up and away
Thank you! I was about to try a baking soda and bleach paste until I saw this. Definitely going with the toilet bowl cleaner now! 😂
Thank you for saving us trouble trying ourselves! God bless
Thank you ❤️
I accidently dropped a bottle of Mr.Clean on my tile. Boy did it every clean the grout. That is my go to. Full Strength Mr. Clean
I have a rug doctor carpet cleaner. I use the hand held upholstery attachment to rinse and suck away all the dirt and cleaner when I clean my grout.

Clorox makes a spray on bleach plus all purpose cleaner together in one bottle. It works really well. Takes away mold too.

Toilet bowl cleaner should always be used with gloves, highly caustic, and should never be mixed with vinegar or hydrogen peroxide
Out of curiosity why would i not mix it with hydrogen peroxide?
@@matts2488 it'd probably give off some harmful fumes. Even if you can't smell it ... I did something like this by accident once. Lol 😆 don't mix dish soap and LA's totally awesome cleaner .... smelled like ammonia based boxed hair colour 😷

Hi! Try Woolite Oxy Pet Carpet cleaner in a spray bottle and see if it works easier than the toilet bowel cleaner if you get a chance. I used it in my bathroom on white grout by spraying it wet and then a large firm nylon bristle brush. The floor looked new!
Thanks for the tip!! 👍
I use plain old white vinegar and water in a spray bottle. The results are great!!!
That’s wonderful!
So glad you found what you love ❤️

This Old House had a tip on grout cleaning. Fill grout with white vinegar. Mix water, baking soda, and a couple drops of dish soap. Pour on vinegar and brush with a stiff brush. Wait 5 minutes. Clean off with a clean, damp sponge. Seal grout at least once per year. This works really well. Cleaning/sealing my grout is on my to-do list.
I have tried that in the past and it didn’t do the trick for mine but thank you. The bleach was my fav 👍

I have recently fallen in love with that toilet bowl cleaner. I used it on my shower grout, which was already mildewed when we bought the house. Even the bad spots look SO much better! And I love the smell too. I've been meaning to try my kitchen grout too!
That is awesome!! Yes it works so well 👍 I don’t mind the smell either lol. Thank you so much ❤️
Please try to limit inhaling chlorine fumes… That is such a toxic chemical to inhale…I used to spray diluted Clorox in my shower every weekend and come out of the room gasping for air… I ended up with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma… Exposure to chlorine fumes/gas is one of the things connected with that cancer… So please be careful!
Thanks for the time you've taken to explore all three methods that sit in the box of myths of how best to get that janky grout!
Glad to help!
Do it again with less product and use a brush on all 3. I have used all three and others and I did not get the same result you got. I will stick to my Hydrogen peroxide, soda and I add a little of Dawn. Is not easy and it takes of lot of strength, something I am short off.
I'm a fan of your cleaning style! Thank you, Andrea Jean Cleaning!! Way to go!🙂🌺
Thanks so much! 😊
8 did the clorox toilet bowl cleaner thos summer.. It worked amazing. It's November and it still looks good.
Good to know!
❤️🎖🏆 Amazing. Gonna try the clinging bleach cleaner AND my steam clear after!! Thanks!!
Many thanks for this very instructive video. Greetings from Indonesia.
Glad it was helpful!
Vinegar 50% and water 50% and a wire brush works great. I use it all the time. You might need to repeat the same process once or two times depending on how dirty it is. But you will see good results.
Thanks!
Absolutely!! I had to go over this several times 👍
Dumb ass no ! Grout is sealed for a reason why fuck it up? Knowledge first!
Or a cutting brush on a cordless drill - seriously.
Yes lots of different ways to get the job done 👍
Ever try Easy Off oven cleaner? My maintenance guys always used that to clean bathrooms between tenants.

2) put down the peroxide on the tile first then mix baking soda on the crack. the chemical reaction is where the power cleaning happens.
3) same thing with the oxi clean. BTW love how you respond to comments keep up the great work.
It looks so good!! I have a whole video in which I cleaned my entire kitchen 👍 it was so easy too! th-cam.com/video/7syelzDYu1A/w-d-xo.html
Thanks Yvette!! Each to their own right 😘
I agree 100%
It’s important to know your grout color, bleach will change the color of your grout
Thank you for this information. From the replies in your comments I learned that bleach will ruin the grout eventually. I think I will try the vinegar with baking soda as mentioned in a comment. I have a question: do you reseal the grout after you're done? I'm getting mixed information on this issue. Thank you so much.
Yes! And used 1x to clean will not ruin your grout… at least I have never had any issues 👍
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!❤❤❤
My tile floor looks 100% better.
Yeah!! So happy to hear that! Thank you ❤️
Did you have to scrub?
Thank you so much!!! The Clorox Toilet bowl cleaner worked so well for cleaning the grout on my white ceramic tile floors!!
I need to clean the grout in my bathrooms so bad 🙈 but I’ve never found a good grout cleaner. It’s really amazing how they sell products specifically made for this and they never seem to work, but yet Clorox toilet bowl cleaner can do it!
That is so wild!! I would have never thought of this either 👍
