    This is one of the best Nissan Murano review videos I've watched, and I've watched a lot of them. Really good info provided by the reviewer.

    Great reviewer! Like how you talk about seat comfort, cabin quietness and visibility. Even though the review is 4 years old it is still great information for used vehicle buyers.

    I just purchased the 2016 Platinum version of the new Murano. It is everything I wanted and this review really helped me decide. I wanted a very smooth and quiet ride in something with luxury grade quality without the luxury price. It took me several months of going out and test driving various SUV's, 8 to be exact. Bigger ones smaller ones cheap ones expensive ones. This hits the spot for the value quotient and as a bonus it actually has some style.
    As an aside I find it amusing that the new Lexus RX pencils out to be very similar to the Platinum level I purchased, but doesn't even offer the 360 degree camera view system. I think everyone will be offering that goodie in the future. Oh yes, the Lexus was $12,000 more.
    I suggest anyone seriously in the market for this size SUV give this one a look and test drive before committing. You might just be surprised by the quality of this thing. I was.

    you make awesome videos, but it's funny to hear this referred to as an "SUV" over & over...it's a "Crossover" and crossovers are their own segment...even back in 2015. Technical part of review is accurate.

    Why does this same engine produce 300hp in the maxima, but only 260 in the murano? Is that a mistake? Like the size of a shoe changing depending on who wears it! Ridiculous.

  • @waynewilliams1487
    @waynewilliams1487 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    The murano is so interesting. It seems to borrow tech from BMW's xdrive intheir intelligent AWD system and Honda's vtec in their vvt system. Awesome car. Besides the beauty itnis is pretty tech- filled dnd fast (0-60 in 7. 1 is great for a vehicle of this size-dnd this is without ansport mode. Why isnthe crv still the 5 seater king in suv market when the murano trumps it in nearly every category?

    Hey man, I've been looking for a video where you explain the benefits of a rear spoiler on a FWD car and I can't seem to find one. I was sure you had one.

    • @EngineeringExplained
      @EngineeringExplained  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sam King Check out my video on downforce. The benefits are identical to any other layout (RWD, AWD). You have more downforce and you can corner faster (assuming the front and rear both have added downforce and it's somewhat balanced).

    • @rkan665
      @rkan665 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If it looks faster it must be a faster. Other than providing a bit of extra aerodynamics the spoiler would add weight.

    You are the only reviwer that mentioned the active grille shutters. You should do a 10 things you didn't know about the nissan murano. You could start with the drag coefficient and explain the unique awd system--i think it is the only system that assist in cornering and acceleration it is the only awd system meant to enhance on-road driving. Dnd what is a high torque cvtnthey are using? I wm subbed. Look forward to your next murano video

    How in the world did you get 29 mpg?

    • @EngineeringExplained

      +SacTu Drove the speed limit, mostly highway, smart braking.

    • @SacTu
      @SacTu 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Engineering Explained Oh okay I can see that happening then. I could only get 29 if I really drove as you said... 90% highway. City mpg I can get down to 16-19 usually... Beautiful car though.
      Attempted to put on cross bars today but it requires a couple of technical stuff (cutting...) than just screwing in the cross bars to the rails. Wish they did the cross bars/roof rack like Subaru's where they're tucked in the roof rack and can come out with ease.
      Didn't expect to get a reply since everybody else's comment got ignored lol.

    I know a lot of you infantile pillocks will say this car is the most hideous thing you've ever seen. But you can't say that because you haven't seen one in person yet. You haven't experienced the luxurious experience you'll find in the upper trim levels. (SL and Platinum) So don't go on a rant. The Nissan Murano compares to many other luxury cars such as the Lexus RX. It's not a sport CUV even though it looks like it. It's more of around the town mall shoppers vehicle. Or you could use it for a date night with another couple.

    • @rrrogster
      @rrrogster 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Jordan Little I have one and you are right on the money. I actually test drove the 2016 Lexus RX before buying the Platinum version. I honestly feel I got more vehicle with the Murano. And the $12,000 difference I saved is just a bonus.

    • @rjm9690
      @rjm9690 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’d have to say I agree. I drove a Platinum as a rental once and boy, I couldn’t get over how quiet and smooth it is or the quality of the interior. Even if you get the SV, in Canada you still get the panoramic sunroof, heated seats and steering wheel, navigation and a lot of other treats.
      I know they pitch this to empty nesters but I’m 27 and seriously considering a CPO Murano as my next vehicle. For me, after a long day at work nothing beats a quiet, smooth, comfortable car to get home!
