First of all thank you very much for your excellent and illustrative work. Please, could you advise me in the case of the tuner 8 L1 if via ef - MFT turbo Boost adapter I can adapt it to my old but magical GH5S. I appreciate very much that your knowledge and experiences you transmit them to other filmmakers and photographers!!! Thank you!!!
I really like what it opens up creatively, especially adding character to very stopped down lens (f8 or +). For the price, I could see it being worth the money for only one project. I wish I could experiment though, because the combinations are wild and I doubt I would see my precise setup (FX3 + EF lenses) tested on TH-cam!
I don't really do autofocus much but just out of curiosity - would it be possible to have usable continuous autofocus with the Tuner and say... an FX6 with EF Sigma Art lens? Has anyone tested that? Their website says it supports autofocus but usually that doesn't say a lot about good continuous AF in video mode.
Great video dude. I love the idea of these tuners but personally falls flat for me. There are two things that do it for me. They shouldn’t have been named for the “look” they create because I do not think the L2 looks anywhere near K35’s, k35’s do not have the soap bubble look from any tests I’ve seen or done with my FD’s. The Baltar one is a little closer but still not there. The “look” the adapters claim seems to only affect the out of focus areas mostly and honestly just seems to add astigmatism for the most part. It does nothing to the flaring (obviously cause it’s the same taking lens) or any other characteristics of the lenses they say they look like. Also the price is a bit insane for an adapter with some glass in it. 1/3 to 1/2 what is being asked seems more reasonable for this product based on what I’ve seen. Would love to hear others thoughts.
Oh wow just seeing this comment. Thanks for watching the video bro! And I hear ya. But take it like this, it will always be an impossible task to create the exact look of said lens with an adapter. So its up to you to see where are the benefits of said adapter lies. The cool aspect is you have the opportunity to mix and match different lenses to achieve a new optical look. Sure you might get annoyed by the marketing phrases used to sell the units but the speciality what can be delivered is like nothing else right now. Especially for the price.

they call it "tuners", but many cheap and low quality vintage lenses have that exact same look. i think it's a nice option that can fit into some projects, but the price is way too high for such a device, when a 5$ lens can do the same.
@@CREO.. 5$ was a figure of speech. These tuners basically add longitudinal chromatic aberrations, soften the image, add coma, astigmatism and on top of that, if you focus on a subject closer to the camera in the centre of the frame, you will notice that, despite the shallow DOF separating the subject, the corners will be in focus. Those are all characteristics of very cheap Chinese lenses and the very worst of the vintage lenses. call me a hater, but as somebody who loves a gritty / dehanced look I don't think these look all that great. kinda just getting soft but not in a good way vibes - less "character" and more just a layer of grease between the lens and the sensor. definitely certain use cases where this could be cool, but tbh nothing you can't do with a UV filter and then messing around with patterns of vaseline around the edges to recreate the swirliness, bloom and edge falloff whilst preserving a bit of centre sharpness so you lead the eye in. unfortunately for 1299 its a big no from me!
