I got the opportunity to review the full set! I can confirm the 75 is the best of the bunch and is also the sharpest! Although it is more prone to flaring but only slightly. Great video man!
Man, as soon as I saw these in photo lens style I liked it a lot. They are like improved, brand new Leica R Summilux lenses. When I saw they are doing cinema style lenses I finally made my decision and I ended my several months quest for the best video lenses. And now seeing you agree it is just an additional confirmation, as I liked all the same lenses you liked before.
@ I’ve shot a lot on my Canon 50 FD and used volightlander lenses for my GH5 and GH4 for my wedding scenes as B and C cams. My A cam is Sony FX6. Which focal length would you get?
It's incredible! Lenses that were originally made as an alternative to Leika are considered cheap and low-quality as soon as they were transferred to other cases.
In general, before information about these new summicron-style lenses appeared, I was thinking of making a full-fledged rehouse of my standard lomo lenses (the latest ones). But now I'm thinking.
Great video. I love the look it’s exactly what I was after for RF mount FF. This might be my new alternative to the IronGlass set to get that Helios look in a cine housing.
I'm happy with just using my modded vintage lenses for video... BUT, I would totally throw money I don't have at a couple of these! If they ever make them for Fujifilm X mount that is. I dig them a ton! Plus, it would be nice to have some lenses from the 21st century! Most of mine are from the 70's...
These lenses look amazing. I’m guessing that lens mount are not user replaceable (which is a shame, I’m sure most people would definitely pay extra for a kit of extra mounts). With that said, the M mount appears to be the more appealing option if they retain the same close focusing capability.

a little tipp for sony users: Buy the leica m mount version and get the close focus adapter for easy makro shots
Wow these are actually pretty affordable, great look on the 35mm. The 50mm actually looks too sharp compared to the other lenses, but I’m sure most people wouldn’t notice.
Around 7:28 your said you compared them to the Dulens, is there footage of that comparison? All i can see in the video is the Arles comp. Great Video btw, Spencer :)
Was looking for this. I was looking at the still version of these in comparison to the Leica lenses for an M camera. Ended up with the Summilux-m 50mm, which is amazing for the reasons you mentioned here, sharp but still swirly/character. The Thypoch versions are really only the slightest notch down in quality for a much lower price. Was looking at getting a the still version of the 28mm, but with the Cine's out I'll have to go with those. I think they'll lose rangefinder coupling with the Leica M, but I can use them with an EVF/Liveview, but mostly going on the Komodo. I guess the Arles could be speedboosted, but these are so tiny and have that classic summilux character. FYI, Summilux-c and summilux-m don't have the same look. M 0.8 is based on summilux-m (and Noctilux optional 50mm), and now they have those in a better body, the "Hugo" line. $15,000 a lens. Thypoch it is!
@@spensersakurai Great to know. Your skills are on display even in a fixed interview setup. Am I correct that M mount lenses can't be adapted to L mount or EF mount cameras and any RF versions of these lenses will be considerably larger?
Been looking for these to drop as I don’t have a consistent set anymore for my ronin 4d. These look amazing. Neutral, sharp, bright, lightweight, cheap, consistent color, with character. Minor issues would be focus breathing and filter thread size consistency. These issues are so minor. Was looking at the m.08 lenses after civil war movie but 8.5k price is wild. Great video. Makes me excited to get a hold of these! Where are you located by the way?
Well I am ditching my Meikes FFS still have my 35mm 50mm 85mm I WAS eyeballing the close focus NOT vintage looking DULENS Triassic close focus primes. Have you seen the shots from those??? MY gosh they are CHEAP if you pre order... I LIKE these I and I evision some very cool start close and move away shots- I have a RED GEMINI -PL preffered
I cried (jk). Would have been nice to have the M-mount first. But yeah, looking forward to trying these out. $3200 for the current set?? That's insane value.
The most tele Leica 0.8 is 90mm, so if these are based on a similar optical design then we could see that. But generally Leica rangefinder style long teles are rare
Great video. The lenses look sweet. Your images are really nice, but we have to remember that about 70% of that Magic sauce is coming from the Sony Venice sensor. Wish you would’ve put this on an FX3 to see what it looks like. Thank you.
Disappointing that you've failed to disclose that you were sent these lenses for free to review in the first 3 minutes... please don't make this standard

Cameras from 10 years ago are fine and lenses from 50-60-70 years ago are even better!
Just remember folks, these channels are modern camerastores nowadays. Superlatives and praises for dollars
Everyone on YT is a Chinese lens salesman now haha
That’s true but they have examples of shots they did , there’s making that up
But but but, you said the Athena nisi was the best lens ever. 😂
true, because they also have minimal breathing (Simeras do breathe)
@@_rhapsodist this is why I love it when Tubers flip flop with new gadgets. Best lens ever, then 1 month later, Best lens ever forreal. 😂

Fantastic! They need to do this for L mount. Dream kit with Pyxis for me
Get M mount and adapt. then you're not locked into a single mount.

Such great set! I had the 28 for a few weeks now & it easily became my fav lens! Can't wait to see the 21mm!
Would you recommend these lenses for weddings?
@ 100% if you trust your manual focus skills :)
The character of this lens is BEAUTIFUL! Sharp but not clinical edge to edge ;)

Sounds similar to my considerations. Cine-modding my Leica M lenses (24/28/35) or buying the Simera-C’s. I will wait for some more comparisons.
nooo, i need that M mount
Great review of these lenses! Got a quick question though: how did you achieve the color grade on your talking head? Thanks in advance! 🙂
Kodak 2383 D55 film emulation in DaVinci Resolve with some tweaks

They seem like Goldilocks lenses - just right with a touch of magic, especially for the price
