- In this video, I get reintroduced to TH-cam and take a quick look at one of my favorite new lenses. The Canon FD 35-105 F3.5 and compare it to the Tokina 28-70 F2.6 . It's been a long time but I'm really happy to come back to TH-cam and share some of my thoughts as a cinematographer in the industry for the past 10 years. TH-cam was always my home for information as I was mainly self-taught for the first few years.

Nice video, really like that lens too!
I got two of those, which are pretty much parfocal. Maybe it’s because of the additional lens element inside your adapter?
Damn , the rendering of the image is beautiful. I can see this look being perfect for many situations
i was gonna make a video about this lens, already wrote the script and shot all the b-roll but never ended up finishing it. it's certainly a useful lens, but some of it's short comings could be deal breakers for a lot of people. the minimum focussing distance this lens has is pretty bad, plus it's soft at at close focus. you said it doesn't flare too bad but i think it flares quite a lot at certain angles, and these flares are huge and oddly shaped. it's obviously a matter of taste but as you said, clamp-on matte boxes aren't suited for this lens, so either you accept giant flares or you go for a rig with rails.
still one of the most underrated vintage zooms, there are few lenses with that big of a range and that low of a constant f-stop. the bokeh is pretty, too. then again, you have to like pentagonal bokeh to like this lens :D
I read this lens was just before the release of L glass... might want to try CY Zeiss 35-70 3.5(macro too) sharp... the FD>EF glass adapters are a deal breaker for me. Obviously other mirrorless formats no prob
If you like this, try out the ef mount 28-105mm f3.5…its one of my favorite dual purpose lenses
I will have to look into that one thanks!
Are you more living in the idea of what your doing than in what you are doing? Like the Leica snob?
