Wow, your grass popped up really nice!! 👏👏 I started getting into lawn care only a couple of months ago. I bought a house last winter and had no clue what I was supposed to do with my lawn, and boom! it suffered a lot from drought, fungus, and grubs. I do enjoy learning lawn care from youtubers like yourself :) and very glad to have found your channel. I'm in south western Ontario. I use some of Agromart group's products as well, and recently I bought a reel mower too to use after overseeding 🙂😊 Reel mowing is fun! It's good that your reel mower Sun Joe comes with a grass catcher. They were all sold out when I wanted to get one, so I bought Fiskars (no grass catcher) at Canadian Tire, and had to make a catch tray for grass clipping 🤪 I would like to ask you a question. in southern Ontario, around when do we stop mowing and fertilizing? When the temperature gets below 0 °C during the day time on daily basis ? Thank you!
I love my reel mower, just an excuse now to level out my lawn as a reno project. At this time of year, you can keep mowing as long as your still having top growth. Typically I mow every2-3 days still so I'm not taking a lot of material off all at once, this is a common mistake with home owners as they will cut only once every 7-10 takinging off 1" or more and this is what damages your lawn and causes it too go dormant more often. As for fertilizing, I usually apply my last application of fert in the middle of Oct, it is recommended to water it in so as the weather gets colder this becomes more difficult the closer to Nov we get. Hope this helps.
@@TheLawnDaddy Oh rats! I am one of those home owners (mowing once/wk)..! I should have been cutting more often :-S Fiskars reel mower has 4" height setting so I thought cutting less often would be ok but a lot off grass get pushed down by it. also I wasn't fully aware of grass going dormancy if they are taken off 1" or more.. Thank you for the info. Oh ok, so I should apply my last fertilizers anytime at this point.. will check with forecast and throw em down:) rainy rainy days~ 😑 Thank you again for your tips!
By cutting your lawn more often, over time you train your grass to be at a certain height...this will cause the grass to shorten its stem allowing all leaf blade to show. When you mow once every 7-10 days, the grass gets trained to be at that height so the stem will grow much taller. Often times when people can only mow once a week or so then cut their grass shorter so by the time 10 days goes by its not that over grown...this actually does more harm than good because taking off that much material at once causes you to cut into the stem of the grass making your lawn look yellowish.
@@TheLawnDaddy Hi again! I have another question regarding the final fertilizer app :-S I missed my final fert app by the mid-Oct.. This week is hitting below 0 in the morning (2days), a couple of days of rain, and sunny/cloudy the rest.. Next week the forecast says temperature will be 0 ~ 10 degrees Celsius, with only 1 day of heavier rain. Should I still go out and fertilize whenever I can this week, or next week would be okay? Thank you so much.
