Figure 8.3 Collé Bow Stroke

Collé is a very short bow stroke initiated by flexing the fingers. It should be performed in both directions. It can be thought of as playing pizzicato with the bow. Collé is essential to develop because this bow stroke is the source of the quality of attack in
crisp and accurate articulated bow strokes. Collé starting from the string is essential for a quality martelé bow stroke, but it should also be practiced starting from above the string to help develop articulation for spiccato bow strokes.
