I watched the entire video with great interest. I started playing the viola (not violin) a little over 20 years ago at age 55. Because I had played the piano all my life and accompanied string classes for 5 or 6 years, I knew a few things about playing a string instrument. I started learning the viola by playing in a small chamber group and later moved to an orchestra. I'll never be a soloist (except in string quartets) so the solo techniques demonstrated in the video clips are fascinating. Someone, probably you, put in a lot of time finding the clips to use here. Thanks so much for the detail. I have come across and played all of the orchestra techniques at various times. (I was just relieved to learn that there weren't another 25 orchestra techniques that I needed to learn!)
Thank you so much. You dont know how much this helps for a self taught violinist. I have just recently watched your videos and i already subscribed, thank you so much.
Omg im looking for this video… its so help… rare to find this kind of video that teacher tell and teach the symbols on youtube for free… thank you so much… bcoz i just learn violin from youtube especially from this channel…
Really cool video. I finally had the time to sit and watch it all the way through. And now to take my kitten to the Vet to get his last set of shots. Have a great day.
Thanks so much for sending me the list of all the 25 bowing techniques. I'm going to print them tomorrow morning and hang them on my wall. I found your channel a few days before - by hazard - and I enjoy it so much.
I love violin music and am self teaching... I was told it was the hardest instrument to learn.... NOW I certainly believe it. I had no idea of all these methods using the bow! I will never get to orchestra level, but I'm still enjoying trying to play!! Thanks for the video!!!

Love your chopping! Didn’t know about that technique! Must learn it somehow 😀 I think you missed Sul Ponticello in orchestral playing? And harmonics in solo playing require a good certain bowing technique (I think - although there is no name for it). And left hand pizzicato doesn’t require the bow at all 😂 Finally I think tremolo requires THREE lines not two, since that is only repeated semi-quavers. Thank you for your excellent compilation though. It is very useful and entertaining ❤
