You can rent places like this all over Thailand in 2025. Staying long term means big savings in this beautiful country. Lets hear your thoughts in the comments below.
@@DiscoveringThailand hi, coming with a Camper and cat slowly..Do you think I'll find a bungalow front sea with ac anywhere in the country for 100 bucks?..👀
@JanelleChristmas-w6u depends on what visa you quality for, and there are several choices. Yearly extension of stay based on retirement is what many and I am on. I have a video about that and its requirements on the channel 😀
Peter, thank you for sharing your condo and costs of living . Usually when I see such low costs, the condos are awful and not really livable. Your place is quite nice and is something I could see myself living (assuming I had no kids or wife). Given my family situation (2 kids and a wife), my biweekly grocery shopping in Chiang Mai exceeds your monthly rent. Well done on keeping your costs low and your standard of living high. 👍🏻
I rewatched your livestream a few days ago and I have to say that what sets you apart from most is that you have an honest view of what you want and it is not the usual 'bars, bars girls, alcohol etc' videos to get views. I love that your lifestyle is not the typical ex-pat, you came to Thailand to live a full life and not drink yourself silly and waste all your money on girls. That is respect. Keep up the good work and this channel will keep on growing. P.S. I love ur condo set-up and how much did you pay for that desktop? a good price with good RAM etc?
Thanks ! Just trying to keep people informed just like others did for me when I was researching to move to Thailand. The PC was 10k baht off FB market place. I added extra ram, now 32gb. It handles my video editing ( and Gaming) Cheers Pete 👍
I just signed a lease for 20K BHT a month in Pattaya and am ok with paying a little extra for a year to get to know the area but also have the beach across the road and access to hundreds of restaurants and cafes. After 12 months i will move to my new chosen area and save a heap of money I am sure. Great vlog. Cheers Subscriber 3.04K
I’m paying $2,470 AUSD per month living in the Inner West Sydney area. Unfortunately, at this time 6 years short of retirement. Would love to move to SE Asia, hopefully soon…
Good information. It's nice to see an apartment video where we don't get an explanation of every personal item in the apartment or their personal lifestyle stuff. JUST THE FACTS Thanks
Im paying £1200 for a very small place in London. Half the size and i have to pay all bill on top ao around £1450 Pm . It's time for me to move to sunny Thailand :)
Awesome video mate, love your content. I liked it when you showed the price in THB as well (yes I can easily do the conversion, just being lazy), although, I do understand why you show USD prices. I love that your condo has a ceiling fan and screen door to the balcony, nice inclusions. I'm currently in Jomtien and plan to check out Chiang Mai later in the year. Thanks for suggesting my perfect homes. I follow them as well but always good to get a personal recommendation. have a great day in paradise!
Good day to this channel - I am stepping forward to extend my CHEERS to you. This video has in fact given me a lot of POSITIVE HOPE and i deeply THANK YOU so much for it. Your place really looks like a fantastic price point and at a rate with nothing to complain about. Very decent offer.
Fantastic vlog my friend, Making the move from the UK next May (26) undecided where yet but Pattaya looks favourite closely followed by Chang Mai 😊 at the moment I’m paying £485 monthly for an en-suite room in a shared house with 4 other people, Moving to Thailand 🇹🇭 about travelling for the past 20 yrs
Thanks Peter. The problem I have is trying to sort out (from a distance) just what the rental 'geography' of CM is! Sure, I can look at a map and see just where the different condos are located but very little information about differences and considerations for renting in area A versus area B. I think a series of videos with this as a focus would be very worthwhile exploring - literally!.....
The electricity seems extremely cheap as condos and apartments normally have add on fees covering the building power usage. Paying for laundry instead of doing your own might minimise this because they may include the power in the laundry charges. A larger freezer also adds on. Our electricity and water fee is around 1500 baht a month for a room with bathroom and we do not have a swimming pool.
for One person living in a unit up to or longer than a year then it would be a Must Have unit size of 45sq mt to 65sq mt minimium otherwise it would be way too cramped ......... ok smaller for holidays ect but not long term ............ also your better off having a Studio apartment instead of a lets say a One Bedroom apartment as the dividing wall takes up a fair bit space and also a unit with a small balcony equals more sq Mts inside the room as the sq meterage includes the balcony , I remember you moving in there , done well
My question is, does it get cold there or is it tropical like the Philippines. The cost sounds great there, but I hate the cold.when I retire early in 6 years I'll be 62 and the cold already sucks on my joints . Lol
It's winter now. It got down to 13c overnight, but it will get up to almost 30c during the day. I don't think it gets colder unless you live in the surrounding mountains ( chiang mai).
I pay the official government rate for water, and my electricity is the same rate as my neighbours, though I used less. I like to keep lights off and the air-conditioning and fan have not been needed for the last 2 months. 😀
I love it. How far away (walk time) are you from the city center ? In my part of the world (France countryside) you could not go under 600 usd to get a decent appartment (which would certainly not be furnished and do not even dream about a swimming pool).
I miss the low rent costs in Thailand, even in Pattaya I found a studio for roughly $336 per month. Currently I'm in Mexico paying almost double for a studio. 🙄
Great apartment at an excellent price. I've been seriously thinking about retiring in Thailand next year. I've been there 3 times to check it out. I've yet to visit Chiang Mai, though. I should be there in a couple of months and I'm encouraged by the cost of living there, partly through watching your videos. More importantly, I'm a big plastic modeler, too! I build mostly WWII air and armor. Have you met anyone there with the same hobby? What's the name of your modeling channel, again? I used to watch it and I like to watch it again. I recall watching a video about your visit to a hobby shop. It was a little hard to find I recall. Was that a local shop or in BKK?
Mate I like it nice and cozy place with everything you need , I live in Manila In a nice studio for about 300$ , has a nice big pool and great security
Hi Randy, Yes I could live here for another year easily, maybe next year I might move into a house, I always wanted a pet dog but can't have in a condo :)
Very nice ! I have been thinking about retiring in Thailand what do you think about Hua Hin ? $700 to $800 a month in the U.S for 1 bedroom 1 bathroom that is without any furniture or to say the least No pool. I have to get out of here !
Hua Hin is a very popular place with nice beach. But not much for motorcycle touring around like up in the north here, thus one reason why I choose here. Of course there is no beach here in Chiang Mai :)
My rent is zero a month I paid off my mortgage at 44 yo 59 now Love my trip back and forth to LOS and hope to move there permanently one day but need to look after my old mum for now Great video Very informative I'd be interested to know what Chiang Mai like year round and in particular during the burning season Is it really as bad as some make out?
Hello, I am sure it will always be very low priced here for many years to come. The burning season starts in a couple months and yes its not good, many go away for a month or so. Its not healthy especially if you have respiratory issues.

I pay 10k THB (US$289) for a 50 sq/m one bed condo in Bangkok. Two min walk to a station the Sukhumvit BTS line and 15 mins to Asoke BTS.
Sounds great and convenient to everything.

Yes you do have a very good deal, I imagine a bit quieter on the riverside to.

Only chiang mai
Given the spiralling increase in Am $ value, are landlords now pricing in £ or Euro ??
All prices advertised here are in the Thai Baht. But maybe they should.
Do you have hot water in kitchen sink and bath sink?
No.. the shower is the only hot water.
Generally shower is the only hot water in Thailand (if at all), although some places have hot water at the taps as well.
Ok $200 a month so how much is that in Baht I'm not from the U.S.A.!!
Depending on the exchange rate its 8000 baht/Month
