Richard Hawkes I don't think the music industry was to blame for the demise of Toploader, it was the food industry. They were one of the best up and coming indy bands, they had a massive following and were well respected having crafted a masterpiece in this very song. That however went to shit the second they became that band from the Bisto adverts.
This song is in my top 5 favourites of all time and is at slot number 2. Toploaders other under rated song 'Only for a while' is at number 1. I've been on this Planet now for 43 Years and although I'm virtually dead on the inside emotionally this song still brings tears to my eyes. If anyone is interested in my 3rd and 4th on my list those honours go to Keanes 'Bad Dream' (3rd) and 'Bedshaped' (4th) Don't do these songs an injustice by playing them quietly as they need to be played LOUDLY!

yeah by far their best tune! I really dont understand why dancing in the moonlight made it bigger - this song is so much more deep anad meaningful. It feels a very deep sort of song....the video fits it well too. I live in Canada now and they are un heard of over here. Great song....

It's almost chilling how every lyric resonates with me. Like I perfectly understand now what he was going on about because it happened to me as well.
