Hi, Nate, it's 12/01/2018 and I'm 74 years old, have a number of bikes still, 2 road, 29er hardtail and a rigid fat bike. For some reason, I have just a lot of fun on the fat tire and seem to keep riding it. I can float over sand and grind up slopes. It is just so much fun. Your reasons have convinced me to get at least a hardtail fat bike.
I rode bikes for almost 55 years I change to fat bikes about 6 years go, I love to ride fat bikes now I own 4 fat bikes Trek, specialized, Giant ,Norco fat bikes for me is the way to go !!!!!
There is a point to riding a Fatbike on the street only. I put the max amount of tire pressure in my fat bike tires and then ride exclusively on a paved road only for the traction and the resistance that the paved road and a fat-bike tire offer in an effort to lose weight and to get into better shape. I live in Colorado where 7-10 percent grade climbs are not uncommon and they can last 7 to 10 miles. And of course, Riding a fat bike is Better on the knees and joints than running. So if you want to get into better shape. ride a fat bike on paved roads as I have described above rather than running.
They really are like a monster truck! I just turned around and looked at mine, which is against the wall on the other side of my living room, and it's MAAAD!!!! The tires are just insane to look at! I wonder if I'll ever get used to it??
I own a giant yukon fatbike, and I feel the same as some of you,I CANNOT STOP RIDING!!! Just a blast, been riding mountain bikes all my life, have only had one car in my life, and never want one again.4 months I have owned my fatbike, and I already have a little over 3000kms on it.not one puncture yet,not one mechanical, and I take her on my local trails, and urban riding, with no issues.if you can adapt to the extra traction and a bit more weight,it will not be long before it feels like a regular mountain bike, and you will be stronger for it.
Local shop has been offering FREE demos on fatbikes. Smartest thing they've ever done. They've been selling tons of them as a result. Including one to me.
You can do all of that with a normal MTB, just get the winter tires with studs. There are some for bikes, they grip as mad. It is easier to drive it, doesnt drain your energy as fast.
Here is the best reason to buy a fat-bike: Commuting to work. With laws that make it illegal to ride on sidewalks, yet the traffic is way too dangerous to drive on the roads, the only place to drive is on the gravel shoulders or on the grass, so you need low-pressure high-floatation tires to drive over that stuff, and that is where those fat tires come in handy.
One more reason: it’s a fat bike. The confidence you gain is amazing. I just bought my Devinci minus RS 2 weeks ago and have been loving every moment. Right not it’s all dirt covered from the snow melt. My last ride I went down a wooden staircase without a hitch. Won’t lie , it was a little bumpy🤘🤘.

To me the most important reason is that fatbikes gives you so much confidence, you do not have to fear neither for a rocky nor sandy ground nor have to think about tram tracks on the road, you just roll over literally everything, nothing stops you on a fatbike. Even dogs seem to be intimidated by the huge tires!
I am getting a my fat bike for public land hunting most guys are using big tire Ebikes but I'm not spending over $1200 on a Ebike..pedle bike will be fine with me with attachable cart to haul my deer but this will suit my application due to the terrain I hunt in and weather from october to December its cold, wet, snow and those fat tires will help skim through it
My sonders Orginal I modified it now it has a 180 mm air shock in. The front hydraulic breaks and 5 in by 26in wheels The thing is a tank I like to ride it over my frozen lake in the winter and you know I had to blast data vu
I've been riding a fattie about 10 years, I've had several, chro-mo, aluminum, carbon, front and fully suspended ebike.People sometimes laugh at me and say WHY don't you ride a regular bike? It's because they're so fun, and get you in a higher level of fitness. Then when I ride a plus bike, or xc bike, I have to wait up for everyone!
Hey mate! I was wondering if it would be good for me a 14 year old kid how just wants to ride around my neighborhood and on the boardwalk and beach would it be good and ride good for me? Thanks!
You said 3 years ago that fat bikes are now under 30 lbs? My 2019 Specialized fat boy weighs over 35 lbs. not sure what you’re talking about. Surly fatties are still 35+ I have a few buddies that own them. Which carbon fatties are pushing 20 lbs as well?
Yeah, cool. But not on mud - when you cross a pool and mud sticks to one side of your wheels, all the fun ends. Weight becomes unevenly distributed and it's a pain to get it up and down every wheel rotation. But of course, yes for the sand, snow and "weedy" offroad.
It's already in the mail, but just seeking confirmation of my decision! I'm not sure there are many fat bikes under 30 pounds unless it's a carbon frame. The small frame aluminum Salsa Mukluk I purchased weighs 33 pounds. Just a warning to those with unrealistic expectations.
Hey Nate. I live in Fairbanks, Alaska and ride a Mongoose Hitch fatbike. Yeah she is heavy, but I've done a few tasteful upgrades to make riding more enjoyable, and safer. Anyways. This is my first time on the channel. I liked the video! Sub'd!!
Hi I’m from Winnipeg, Canada. The pic. at 3:15 I believe is from the Forks, Winnipeg. Fat bike got my attention and I planning to buy one. Any tips before buying one? What do I need to know, budget, brand, etc. Can stretch my budget to $2000 usd for now
Guys I’m thinking about getting one and done LOTS of research and I’ve come to a conclusion that the best one for me is a dolomite that is around $250 if anyone had any other suggestions or tips please LMK (my budget is $350)
A wapping *40 pounds* of bike is way too much, IMO. Around 32lbs is reasonable for a fatty! Watched "Seth's bike hacks" video on that one already?! Dude makes a lot of good points!
All I want to know is it heavy to ride on road? I mean, do you have to put more effort to ride it but speed is slow? I don't want to race or something, but at least does it give the speed as normal cycles?
As with ANY other bike, at 130kg you need to check bike specs for *max system weight* _(wich is rider + gear + bike)_ - all manufacturers of frames, tires and rims design their products with a certain max in mind! Ranges from around 80 to 150kg. There are unofficial (!) tolerances but that's outside warranty.
Tried it. And it felt to heavy and stable. I wanna be able to feel some of those bumps. Felt like a bike that my mum would ride cause she complanes about every little bump on tarmac or offroad.
I will get one despite my hatred for money, it will just be a bitter thing to endure, the handing over of the paper, but I will thank myself later when I ride it, that the time I spent at my slave job, allowed me one day a week to ride it. A fat bike isn't on my immediate purchase list, sure wish the kona major jake still worked, its broken in my bedroom as a sort of ornament. I was looking at the Raleigh tokul 3, I bet it would be a fun bike, I have a redline monocog 29er, that is crippled, the crank arm snapped off, they were flexy cranky arms and I was riding it a winter ago and it just snapped.
@@tomthomas334 You say you hate paying dead money?, cost of living, bills is the money I hate spending, A $900 fat ebike wasn't a grudge purchase to me, fully enjoying it and towing a trailer behind it

Officially saving up for a fatbike.

Thanks, I own a fat tire bike and always wondered what the difference is compared to a normal bike! No sarcasm this was helpful
The difference is if you get a puncture on a fat bike the tyre comes off the rim and you risk your life
I have 3 Fat bikes. 2 are single speed and one is a 7 speed. My favorite one of all is my single speed Polaris Wolly Bully.

Can you do a top 6 reasons to buy a Fatbike? I need one more reason to be convinced. Thanks!
How about I just do a video with one more reason and you can put them in a playlist? ;)
Serious Business you will feel like batman when you get one. Minus the bike engine and weapons. Haha

When I get a puncture

I'm never riding that junk again
Got mine about a year ago...voodoo wazoo..love it.🚴🏻♀️

why do they not make a tire that can go on a fat bike that is good for road and trail yet ?
You have a great channel , sad you don’t have a lot of subscribers . Well I subscribed 😉
Very nicely done Nate :-)
Fat bikes are the best. I feel like I'm in a gta 5 game and there is no where that I can't explore :D

What about the danger of the tyre coming off the rim when you get a puncture 😱
I mean, it's not much more likely than a regular bike :\. You always run the risk of your tire coming off when punctured, fatbike or no ;)
Does fat bike riding develop muscles?

If you already have a mountain bike, does a fat bike make sense?
Hahaha that picture of the fat bikers in front of Fyxation is my local group from MKE! Made me do a double take dude!
haha! I was scrambling for content for this video and a lot of the pictures I found were either from Facebook or Google image search! xD
I love Alaska. I want to live Alaska rather. but only in big city Anchorage.
You forgot Fox suspension.
As far as I know, Fox only makes a 27.5+ fork and not a fat fork ;)
Oh ok.
how much does an average fatbike cost?
Vlad a good 200 to 500 Dollars.
15000
13500 to 1.50 lackh
Shouldn't reason number 1 be that you live in Alaska? :)
Touche xD
Got a link to local bike groups in your area? Recommended beginner spots?
At first I thought it was just a new trend of bikes for the kids.. ok then I’m gonna get one 😁
Just brought a fat bike ...and it great 😁😁
fatbike the best for bumpy road...
Tried it. And it felt to heavy and stable. I wanna be able to feel some of those bumps. Felt like a bike that my mum would ride cause she complanes about every little bump on tarmac or offroad.
I just tried fatbiking too and it was so nice! I just made different kind video from that.
01:51 💕💕
What is the maximum weight of the rider that a fat bike can carry?
James R I am 375.. I ride a pugsley and love it!!
I want one of them bad, I hate money . I think I would get a Niner brand one
If you hate money, you'll never have one. Unless that's the sole avenue you take to get ride of all the money you hate.
I will get one despite my hatred for money, it will just be a bitter thing to endure, the handing over of the paper, but I will thank myself later when I ride it, that the time I spent at my slave job, allowed me one day a week to ride it. I was told they don't get you fit and cyclists don't use them
Lol, Try riding one for a couple miles and then tell me they don't make you fit....
this video is for seven year olds... it belongs in a dentists office... a little maturity - try it.
You appear to be about seven...
never liked fat bikes :D LoL
Why you hate them?
