    G'day Mick, I'm having fun with the new mod. The depth is impressive, 0.1 gram at 12 inches, 0.16 gram specie at 8 inches, 0.3 gram at 8 inches..found 20 nuggets today on a patch I thought was finished..thanks very much.

      .1 at 12 inches, I really do find that hard to believe, 12 inches is a foot

      Yes it is especially difficult to believe when you dig a hole like that and the nugget is only 0.1 gram! But it's happened so many times now...at least 25 digs of disbelief with this detector after only having it for about 5 months@@jonathanmillichip9296

    The modded 5000 really is the ultimate all-rounder IMO Mick👌

      I am coming to the conclusion that the 5000 is about the best and most versatile detector that they have ever made, especially after they are modified. Another great thing about them is they are completely repairable.

    Bloody hell Mick , you do realize that people can go and buy a Zed then spend 2 to 4 grand on a couple of after market coils , some of which void the warranty and still end up with a machine less capable than one of your modified 5000s . I for one am looking forward to further comparisons from people who have used both machines in the real world now that there are a few of your latest spec 5000s getting around . Add to that the cost of an xcoil for example is not that much different to the costs of the mods for the 5 . It would be fantastic if you can get a Zed owner to bring all his aftermarket coils to put up against your 5000 when you get your full test patch established to provide the fair and unbiased test that you are demonstating in the vid, in the meantime I will get plenty of opportunity to see what happens with the 5,6 and 7 on the trip at the end of the month .

    I found that running an evolution coil in the high frequency is ok but the gain can’t be put to high . But if you use an advantage coil which is quieter and not as sensitive you can boost the modded gain higher with less ground noise . Also when looking for big gold . Use the 5000 in normal with a 25 inch did and nothing will come close . So overall I found the mod very useful small gold high frequency 12x7 advantage coil . Big gold ,use normal , big ddcoil . Good work mick

      Yeah, tell me about it. I had purchased a wireless mic, but the Android video recorder won't connect to it. I found this out after recording the video and the detector was gone. I sat on the video for a couple of months because the audio quality was so poor, but finally decided to just post it after showing a few people and could still hear it well enough. Listening with headphones is better. I have sorted the Mic issues now, so next time I make a video you should actually be able to hear me!

    • @detectronicsaustralia3362
      @detectronicsaustralia3362  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, pretty much any of the Evolution series should work, but bear in mind that they were designed to go on standard detectors, so there may be times when you can't get much more out of them. I think a few of the guys doing testing for Nugget Finder are now running modified detectors, so who knows what the future holds. As for the other brands, it is a case of trying them and now that you know how your machine should behave, you can judge if they are going to be of benefit.

      There may have been settings in the 7000 that would have smoothed it out, but anything I did to do that also diminished the target response. The modified 5000 was running gain and stabiliser somewhere from 6~8, motion very slow, quiet audio. There is a lot of room for adjustment.

      In this video I am running the older level 3 mods. Not long after this video was published we started doing level 4 mods which run much higher frequency and gain. I have been so busy since that I have not put up a video showing the level 4 mods in action. The level 4 mods have found several extra targets in my test patch and made targets that were just a whisper with the older mods scream out in pain like they are junk targets. The level 4 mods match or better the 6000 on the tiniest most difficult(wirey fine specimens) targets and also has settings for larger deeper gold too.

    Hi I am yousing my wifes acount Ann,
    my name is Harrry , thank you for the video Mick, I had you do the full mods on my 5000 last year and I was using a 15in round nuggetfinder coil I had my doubts using this as I could not master the correct settings, I purchased a 12×8 nuggetfinder coil under your advice, and oh my enter the game changer it is brilliant on small nuggets and my biggest is 9.7. I find my self adjusting the front gain higher as the ground permits usualy run the factory gain on 12/14 in Western Australia and front gain on 1/2 / 3/4,
    My wife has a GPX6000 and the moded 5000 keeps up with it quite nicely We allso have also have a sdc2300 , The GPX 6000 used to be my go to machine if My wife wasn't using it, but after the mods and the 12×8 coil I now think I prefer the 5000 except for the weight, the 6000 wins that one,
    Thanks again mick I highly recommend your mods to all .

    ps, Mick if you have some advice on the 15in nuggetfinder coil] let me know.

      As for you 15 inch if it’s an evo you’ll get more ground noise and more emi if you get an advantage 16 coil . You can pump front end gain higher , less emi and will target 1 - 15 grams much better . All targets will be on the down side. If targeting sub 1 gram use 12x8 advantage

      Hi Mick, it's been about 18 months now using the modded 5000 and I have persisted with the 15-inch EVO and I have finally mastered it, the 6000 was my go-to machine but I now prefer the 5000 it can ( IMO) outperform in bigger gold

    I’m curious why you wouldn’t run the 7000 in normal

    • @detectronicsaustralia3362
      @detectronicsaustralia3362  ปีที่แล้ว

      The ground moaned and groaned and/or the targets had less response in normal and the other timings on the gpz.

    • @markklau9158
      @markklau9158 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well that would have been useful to show , did you turn sensitivity down when it done this , did you use the ferrite ring.
      Also you use a after market coil on the 5000 why not do the same on the. 7000. I would just like to see a fair and unbiased test for once.
      With my own test I can tell you the the X coils on the 7000 out perform the standard coil by a mile , I understand why people wouldn’t use those coils due to the mods needed but is that any different to modifying a 5000 ?
      Also if you were to make a test pad knowing the exact size and depth of targets .
      I know testing takes a great deal of time and effort and I thank you for showing yours, it’s interesting but I think you could do greater things

      @@markklau9158 Well I could have shown all the fiddling around, then the video ends up being 25~45 minutes long and everybody has lost interest. I had X coils there, but only had a short window to play with it, so chose the coil that every GPZ user has. At some point however, I would like to do each detector individually over the test patch running all different timings etc so all can see. I use the aftermarket coil on the 5000 because the standard coil falls over the moment you try to get more out of it with the modifications. That will be another video with the 5000 running the standard 11" mono over the test site.
      As for the test pad, the only target that I actually know what it is is the .22 pellet at 9", the rest are all targets that I have found and not dug. They could be gold, they could be rubbish, but likely undisturbed gold given the majority of other targets I have found there. I would also like to bury some targets of known size/depth, especially some deeper targets, any suggestions on what to use for targets? Anyone got a spare 80oz slug laying around :D. You see with testing, there is one crowd that says that test targets need to be undisturbed gold and then the other that want to know what size and depth. All I can offer on the undisturbed targets are guesses as to size and depth, given the responses from various detector/timing/coil combinations having used the test patch almost daily for well over a year.
      At some point in the next 12 months I want to set up some tubes in the creek bank like the Laanecoorie test site. And yes, testing takes a lot of time.

    You should of been running the 12 inch round on the 5000 not 12 x8 . A 5000 will blast your eardrums with a bullet at 9 inch. Very poor comparisons

    • @detectronicsaustralia3362
      @detectronicsaustralia3362  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It would not matter what coil I was running. Between the standard and modified detector, the modified detector would get the same target at better depth. The 19" evo gets even better depth on the bullet than the 12" round evo, perhaps I should have used that.
