Gpz7000 VS standard Gpx5000 VS modified Gpx5000
This was a quick run over my test site with a standard Gpz7000 run in settings that best found the targets on the ground, a standard Gpx5000 with fairly standard settings and a modified Gpx5000 running in its highest frequency for best sensitivity to small gold with the front end gain about halfway to maximum gain.

      In this video I am running the older level 3 mods. Not long after this video was published we started doing level 4 mods which run much higher frequency and gain. I have been so busy since that I have not put up a video showing the level 4 mods in action. The level 4 mods have found several extra targets in my test patch and made targets that were just a whisper with the older mods scream out in pain like they are junk targets. The level 4 mods match or better the 6000 on the tiniest most difficult(wirey fine specimens) targets and also has settings for larger deeper gold too.

    Hi. Have you tried 12” or 15” evo’s ??

    • @detectronicsaustralia3362
      @detectronicsaustralia3362 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I tried the 12x8 evo and 12" round evo and the sdc did not like them at all. It was very difficult to find coils that would work properly on the sdc and that being said, larger coils were just miserable on depth to real gold nuggets worth digging. The machine is designed for small gold with small coils. If you want a machine that surpasses the sdc for sensitivity and at the same time get better depth, with the ability to use larger coils efectively, consider the modified GPX5000. It runs rings around the sdc.

    • @detectronicsaustralia3362
      @detectronicsaustralia3362 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, I have abandoned developing the SDC mods. Too noisy and the depth on larger gold was very miserable, coils that actually worked were too hard to find. The GPX5000 can be improved far beyond anything the sdc could ever do both for sensitivity to the smallest most difficult gold to larger deep gold.

I sat on the video for a couple of months because the audio quality was so poor, but finally decided to just post it after showing a few people and could still hear it well enough. You should of been running the 12 inch round on the 5000 not 12 x8 . A 5000 will blast your eardrums with a bullet at 9 inch. Very poor comparisons

    • @detectronicsaustralia3362
      @detectronicsaustralia3362 ปีที่แล้ว

      It would not matter what coil I was running. Between the standard and modified detector, the modified detector would get the same target at better depth. The 19" evo gets even better depth on the bullet than the 12" round evo, perhaps I should have used that.

    Hi. What is the smallest gold you can pick up with this coil?

    • @detectronicsaustralia3362
      @detectronicsaustralia3362 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have found pieces with the Sadie so small they have been difficult to weigh, was possibly a 0.01. But that is also dependent on what machine is attached and what upgrades have been done to it. The 12x8 Evolution is just as sensitive with better coverage and better depth as well. Sometimes it's like electronic panning, thankfully you don't need to dig the dirt of every inch you cover!

    • @theboarhunter
      @theboarhunter ปีที่แล้ว

      @detectronicsaustralia3362 i use a 4500 with the 12-inch nf evo coil, and it's amazing what small targets it picks up. I was thinking about trying a sadie to be able to pick up the rough airy gold, which the 12 inch can't. I'm just not sure if it's worth it and if it will be much different to the 12

    • @detectronicsaustralia3362
      @detectronicsaustralia3362 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@theboarhunter the Sadie or 12x8 will get smaller gold than the 12" round due to the tighter curve on the heal and toe of the coil. The Sadie you can poke into very tight places.

    do you still offer the mod for the sdc ?

    • @detectronicsaustralia3362
      @detectronicsaustralia3362 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. We never did offer the mods for the SDC. The videos were done as part of the testing of mods for the SDC and the conclusion was, coils that suit were too hard to find, running the same coil on a standard GPX4500 always gave better depth with nuggets and the extra sensitivity made the machine noisy and was comparable to running in mode 5. As the improvements were quite minimal vs the time effort and cost we have pretty much abandoned the SDC for mods. Not all was wasted though as things we learned were applied to our GPX mods to make the fantastic GPX mods that we now have, which have a significant improvement over a standard machine. We do repair SDC's however.

But if you use an advantage coil which is quieter and not as sensitive you can boost the modded gain higher with less ground noise . Also when looking for big gold . Bloody hell Mick , you do realize that people can go and buy a Zed then spend 2 to 4 grand on a couple of after market coils , some of which void the warranty and still end up with a machine less capable than one of your modified 5000s . I for one am looking forward to further comparisons from people who have used both machines in the real world now that there are a few of your latest spec 5000s getting around . Add to that the cost of an xcoil for example is not that much different to the costs of the mods for the 5 . It would be fantastic if you can get a Zed owner to bring all his aftermarket coils to put up against your 5000 when you get your full test patch established to provide the fair and unbiased test that you are demonstating in the vid, in the meantime I will get plenty of opportunity to see what happens with the 5,6 and 7 on the trip at the end of the month .

      Yes, pretty much any of the Evolution series should work, but bear in mind that they were designed to go on standard detectors, so there may be times when you can't get much more out of them. I think a few of the guys doing testing for Nugget Finder are now running modified detectors, so who knows what the future holds. As for the other brands, it is a case of trying them and now that you know how your machine should behave, you can judge if they are going to be of benefit.

Also you use a after market coil on the 5000 why not do the same on the. 7000. I would just like to see a fair and unbiased test for once. With my own test I can tell you the the X coils on the 7000 out perform the standard coil by a mile , I understand why people wouldn’t use those coils due to the mods needed but is that any different to modifying a 5000 ? Also if you were to make a test pad knowing the exact size and depth of targets . I know testing takes a great deal of time and effort and I thank you for showing yours, it’s interesting but I think you could do greater things

      @@markklau9158 Well I could have shown all the fiddling around, then the video ends up being 25~45 minutes long and everybody has lost interest. I had X coils there, but only had a short window to play with it, so chose the coil that every GPZ user has. At some point however, I would like to do each detector individually over the test patch running all different timings etc so all can see. I use the aftermarket coil on the 5000 because the standard coil falls over the moment you try to get more out of it with the modifications. That will be another video with the 5000 running the standard 11" mono over the test site. As for the test pad, the only target that I actually know what it is is the .22 pellet at 9", the rest are all targets that I have found and not dug. They could be gold, they could be rubbish, but likely undisturbed gold given the majority of other targets I have found there. I would also like to bury some targets of known size/depth, especially some deeper targets, any suggestions on what to use for targets? Anyone got a spare 80oz slug laying around :D. You see with testing, there is one crowd that says that test targets need to be undisturbed gold and then the other that want to know what size and depth. All I can offer on the undisturbed targets are guesses as to size and depth, given the responses from various detector/timing/coil combinations having used the test patch almost daily for well over a year. At some point in the next 12 months I want to set up some tubes in the creek bank like the Laanecoorie test site. And yes, testing takes a lot of time.

      Thanks Guy! It's amazing what the mods can do. People are going back over their old "flogged out" patches and finding quite amazing amounts of gold given the work they previously did.

      There may have been settings in the 7000 that would have smoothed it out, but anything I did to do that also diminished the target response. The modified 5000 was running gain and stabiliser somewhere from 6~8, motion very slow, quiet audio. There is a lot of room for adjustment.

    Do you still do mods on the sdc ?

    • @detectronicsaustralia3362
      @detectronicsaustralia3362 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately we abandoned the SDC mods as the overall improvement was not that good and the detector quite noisy. However, we learned a lot from the work on the SDC and applied it to the GPX mods we do and the improvements we do the GPX now are absolutely fantastic. One of our modified GPX5000's will beat an SDC, standard or modified, on just about any target, especially with recent improvements we have been working on.

    Hi. Have you done anymore with the sdc and nugget finer coil??

    • @detectronicsaustralia3362
      @detectronicsaustralia3362 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately I haven't had time to revisit the sdc mods. Some users have tried using a Sadie coil with the sdc and found them to work ok, but as for using bigger coils to detect bigger deeper gold, the sdc just isn't designed for it. If you want better depth with really good sensitivity, then the modified GPX5000 is the best way to go and is the most versatile machine.

    Nice 👍 work can l get in touch with you so I can do that to my SDC 2300

    • @detectronicsaustralia3362
      @detectronicsaustralia3362 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately we abandoned the mods for the SDC as while it is impressive on a coke can, when testing with real gold, the depth was really miserable, to the point where you could bolt that 18" coil on a standard 4500 and get much better depth and less ground noise. Also as the SDC is a noisier machine the gain control didn't really help the situation. Fortunately though, there were some really good lessons learned which led to our current Low noise RX Gain mod that is now used in the SD/GP and GPX series and provides unsurpassed performance without adding a heap of noise. I wish it had been a better outcome for the SDC, but the performance gains were just too small for the amount of work that had to go into it and selecting coils that would actually work was difficult. If you are really serious about getting better performance I can highly recommend our modified GPX5000, it gets the gold from small to large.

      One would think so Brett, but as is clearly demonstrated in the video, when the detectors are set to standard they do not detect the piece of gold. I was most disappointed in the performance of the sdc and that is one of the many reasons I don't offer sdc modifications. If you are ever near Dunolly, Vic and would like to come past and verify that standard settings on the modified 5000 perform exactly the same as a standard 5000 detector on undisturbed in ground targets, you are more than welcome.

    Hi Mick,what was the front set at , normal or deep.Pretty sure if the ground allowed the 5000 … it would nearly pick that up in normal with a lower Gain. at 12 or near to that.Also what was your target volume set at Cheers Greg

    • @detectronicsaustralia3362
      @detectronicsaustralia3362 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Greg, that was 2 years ago! I was probably in "normal", but your "Normal" "Deep" and "Custom" settings are just labels and they are only what the label says when you have done a factory reset(excluding custom!) and not played with the settings in the back menu. The moment you change the gain, stabiliser, motion, audio etc in normal or deep, then technically it is no longer "Normal" or "Deep" The ground around there has some very hot pockets and also hotrocks scattered about the place. It may have been able to run normal timing, I don't know. Would normal have picked up that target? I don't know that either. To say it would or would not now is just pure speculation. If you are ever around Dunolly Vic, I'd be happy to show you and you can use whatever settings you like. Since this video was made there have been further improvements to the mods demonstrated.

    G'day Mick there will have to be a stop put to this , we have used the secret weapons you provided us with to good effect this past week finding a bit over 7 grams in about 10 hours all up just out of town where everybody has been . the Spaz ( stepson) is way out in front for the week with about 4.5 g . biggest 1.75 g , smallest 4 or 5 bits around .08 g . I got biggest .93 g and smallest a throwback of .05 . We don't want the whole world to know about the secret weapons for a while yet . Besides that you will be too busy making them to enjoy the lifestyle you would like to become accustomed to . Cheers
