We here in the Midwest have a lot to be proud of & thankful for. In addition to Chuck Berry being the first inductee into the RRHOF, there’s also Miles Davis as the first inductee into the JAZZ HALL OF FAME. This album is just one of his many musical gems. It’s part of my playlist on TH-cam & will remain so until I die.❤️💯👍🏿🇺🇸
I recollect that Michael (when asked something like - "how does it feel to be the best sax-player in the world"), answered, "I don't know, you'll have to ask Jerry Bergonzi that". :)
This is one of my favorite Brecker Brothers songs. It's just very nice to listen to, MIchael's solo is great, and Dennis Chamberst makes this version amazing!
Its amazing how much the power of Dennis Chambers playing the drums making this song what it needed to be. I have to say that this song is one of there best. The sad part is that the Brecker Bros. are no more, but just out past memories & one of the best! Michael is the best in ways people don't understand. This song gave the definition of what the song title is. The adventure in the song; The complexity & the sound; plus the feel was just amazing. All the solos made me smile. Picture Perfect !!
This is absolutely the most perfect version of the tune ever. Chambers is insane, Whitty is insane, the whole group just plays together so goddamn well! Barcelona gig contained other otherwordly versions too, I love Stern's last solo on Song for Barry.
I remember once I've visited this concert in 1993 at the Jazz Festival in Frankfurt (Hauptwache) I almost forgot to breathe - it was absolutely breathtaking in its literal sense! Michael, we're missing you!
Now my favorite Randy Brecker solo! Those block chords behind the last chorus of Michael's solo are totally inspired! And words can't even describe DC! Thanks for posting!!!!!!!!
This is totally insane version of the tune. I wish I'd been there and experienced this live. I've always loved Chambers' style and he truly rocks the world here! And damn that sax solo, I don't know where to breathe :)
These guys are awesome. I love both the Brecker brothers, and Mike Stern and Dennis Chambers are just amazing. I wish they'd let Mike Stern take a solo, he's a great guitar player. I've been able to play with Randy Brecker on stage and it was a very thrilling experience. That was with my high school band three years ago, before Michael got sick, but it got me to practice more improv and inspired me more than anything else.
I miss the Chestnut Cabaret in Philly were these guys would frequently play in the early 90's. I've seen a lot of fusion groups there, some of the best musicians in the world. Cost- $18.00!!
i am sure michael would laugh at such statement... if there's one most influential tenor sax player, he must be john coltrane, and michael would surely agree :)
Except when you're talking about Michael Brecker, because he truly was and I think always will be the best ever tenor sax player. He was really something special.
@CHC4669 lets not get ahead of ourselves. Im pretty sure travis parker, carter beauford, tony royster, hell even brian blade can play with as much feeling. but youy are right , dennis does have some serious chops
Is this concert available somewhere in HDMI and with a decent sound? Great performance and especially Michael second voices and his solo. Great drum and stylish bass. Randy is also great but Michael is from Jupiter.
@callumlicks I wondered the same the first time I was the video. But it was only a weird illusion caused by the camera angle and the way his elbow is positioned. He's totally normal person physically :) But anyways, this is one of the best live performances ever, all the solos are just totally exhausting. I can't breathe at any point - just waiting for the next note!
Yeah, I'm sure he would agree with you, because he was extremely modest. I'd say that Trane and Mike are definitely at the top of the list when it comes to the most influential. To me, Mike was and still is just way more inspiring, and sometimes more emotional with his playing that Trane was.
@Mystery101terminated Hey man, not to burst your bubble but this isn't a remake. It's their own song with the same title. Sorry man. Not a cover. I listen to the version you spoke of, it's okay . But there is a reason why nobody knows about this band and nobody knows about the band you desire.
@mbos4115 No doubt he's one bad mug but Steve Smith's interpretation is a little bit more fuller and beefier than Dennis's on this tune. But Dennis is still probably one of the World's best players

Nice Steve Jobs and Eric Cantona duo
i don't think there's anything as "the
best" when it comes to music...
but dennis is amazing and surely among the best

Michael, we're missing you!
The Brecker Bros. were the first JAZZ band I liked. Before I heard them I was close minded! Thanks guys YOU ROCK!
@pneptun I always thought I brought a certain regal dignity to the mullet and moustache.
WOW!!! Every jazz fan must listen to this performance!!!!!
His huge tone must be rocking the heavens ABOVE!!! RIP!
This is lightning in a bottle. And we can uncork & drink deeply anytime we like. Too much joy!
Amazing band.
I miss you so, Michael.
Now my favorite Randy Brecker solo! Those block chords behind the last chorus of Michael's solo are totally inspired! And words can't even describe DC!
Thanks for posting!!!!!!!!
I'm going to miss your wonderful sound. RIP, Micheal.
Love the keyboard solo on this song! Would like to hear more from that guy!
Best Randy solo ever…so ENERGETIC….
HAHAHAHA, Dennis kick so much ass, even Michael was amazed by him.
This is totally insane version of the tune. I wish I'd been there and experienced this live. I've always loved Chambers' style and he truly rocks the world here! And damn that sax solo, I don't know where to breathe :)
I saw this tour live. It’s funny to think I was “Disappointed” that Weckl was on the leg I saw 😂 Oh the 90’s were too good to us for jazz fusion.
Damn... chambers rocks so hard on this.
As for the rest of them... phenomenal as usual haha.
RIP mike
😍One of my all time favorite keyboard solos!

James Genus, he is currently touring with Hancock, i'm about to see them live in 8 days. Can't wait!
Yeah Neil rocks too! Used to dig him when he recorded with Bryan Ferry in the 80's!
We all miss Mike so much !!

Except when you're talking about Michael Brecker, because he truly was and I think always will be the best ever tenor sax player. He was really something special.
Holy shit, this is so good!!!!!!
@CHC4669 lets not get ahead of ourselves. Im pretty sure travis parker, carter beauford, tony royster, hell even brian blade can play with as much feeling. but youy are right , dennis does have some serious chops

@callumlicks I wondered the same the first time I was the video. But it was only a weird illusion caused by the camera angle and the way his elbow is positioned. He's totally normal person physically :)

Yeah, I'm sure he would agree with you, because he was extremely modest. I'd say that Trane and Mike are definitely at the top of the list when it comes to the most influential. To me, Mike was and still is just way more inspiring, and sometimes more emotional with his playing that Trane was.

james genes i think
Mind you id rather listen to a Ballad by Coltrane and tearing it up by Brecker, and both at once by Cannonball

Piano =D
@Mystery101terminated

I'm sure Stern played enough solos, but everyone doesn't have to solo on every tune.
damn who is on keyboard?
HammondB200 george whitty
Not that Coltrane cant rip it up too haha just preference in tone
@mbos4115 No doubt he's one bad mug but Steve Smith's interpretation is a little bit more fuller and beefier than Dennis's on this tune. But Dennis is still probably one of the World's best players
@mbos4115 Before him ... there is Dave Weckl
Sorry, I accidently hit t after Chambers.
Number 1 in my opinion is Brecker HANDS DOWN... Just an opinion anyways.. I'd put Cannonball Adderley in 2nd and Coltrane in 3rd
why god?? why, I borned at the 90's I'm 23 years old and this is music, not the reegaeeaton, this is crap...
He doesn't understand life.
@mbos4115 ummm thats arguable but there are others. like carter beauford for example
WTF??????
that lick at 7:14 though
