    The A-36 is the best single engine piston aircraft by 100 miles and that's after owning and flying a CE-500 and a GIV-SP. I still miss that A-36 I flew between 1997 and 1980, in the Philippines (PVT) RPC-1235, probably the best flying of my life, it was so pure and I love how the 24 volt electrics made the Bonanza's Gear come up like a Jet's !!!!!! Bang, Gear Up !!!

    Hi Rich, I'm not a pilot, but I grew up in Huntington Beach and then moved to the bay area for college and career.
    I get very nostalgic when you fly over areas and the coastline I recognize from my youth.
    Thanks for the great content.

    Very pretty and clean A36! I'm with you, the dual yokes are better than the swing over one. Just in case another pilot in the right seat wants to fly it, the controls are right there! 🙂

    Your vids are wonderful to watch. First and foremost, I have no pilot license, nor do I own a plane. How do pilots know where to land, takeoff, and park an airplane especially in an old plane without modern avionics? ATC says line up at XX or land at XX. What if you're learning how to fly and never been to that airport? Does air traffic control guide all these aspects? My apologies if this makes no sense though I'm really curious. Thank you in advance.

  • @dontbanmebrodontbanme5403
    @dontbanmebrodontbanme5403 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Curious, you mention this has a storm scope. Don’t you normally need the pod that hangs off the wing to work in conjunction with that? Looking at 9:55, I don’t see one. Great video as always.

    • @sheldonholy5047
      @sheldonholy5047 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Storm scope shows lightning strikes, and is a small puck shaped antenna. The pods you are thinking of are weather radar, which is quite different. Not very common these days, especially in the US with Nexrad.

    • @FlyingwithRich
      @FlyingwithRich  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Stormscope is lightning protection. The pod you are stalking about is for actual weather radar. Thanks for watching.

    Rich, nice video, though I personally prefer the vernier style throttles than the quadrant in bonanzas. I fly a V35 and find that with the vernier I can fine tune my mixture, prop and power setting much easier than the quadrant style on the newer ones. Great video overall, but just my opinion.
    Also, it’d be nice to see some V-Tail action on the channel !

    • @FlyingwithRich
      @FlyingwithRich  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the comment and I agree that the fine adjustments are easier on the verier style controls. I think the lever style quadrant makes it easier to transition to the Baron, and even other higher performance airplanes. I will do a V-Tail soon. We have on based with us, so that's a likely candidate. Thanks for watching!

      having owned 3 over the years--the V-series bonanzas are an absolute joy to fly--my most recent one had d'SHANNON TIP TANKS and these i credit for totally eliminating the yaw/swagger so often cpmplained about- I have flown these in all conditions in they are very forgiving exception being icing-No others are safe in icing conditions-mike in iowa

    What does a panel upgrade typically cost for a plane like this (ball park)?

    • @FlyingwithRich
      @FlyingwithRich  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could spend up to $100K if you really went for everything, but also could do some really good upgrades for

    hi rich phil from australia on the leading edge of the wings theres two wedge shape fins if i can call them that what r they for airflow ?

    • @FlyingwithRich
      @FlyingwithRich  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Stall strip to help aerodynamics of stall - ensure wing root stalls before wing tip for better control in stall.

    Don't go flying an A36 into a night time storm like my good friend did in 2002. He and two of his friends perished. A K.C. controlled failed to warn him of the storm ahead just 11 minutes earlier when in voice contact with him. A fourth person turned down the week-end hunting trip on Friday morning citing safely concerns for not not going along. My friend told him, "Your missing a hunting trip of a lifetime". They were off to Winner, S.D., the pheasant hunting capital of the world.

    Hi Rich, great video as always just enquiring to the range on this aircraft and furthermore is OCR available to assist with G1000 upgrade pre delivery?

    • @FlyingwithRich
      @FlyingwithRich  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      When I flew it back from NC, my longest leg was 575 NM with estimated 5 KT headwind component. I landed with probably 1:20 fuel reserve - so still had more range. I don’t think you can upgrade to G1000, but could do G500. TXI, GFC 500 AP which in my opinion is at least as good as G1000 NXI, if not better - and we could assist. Thanks for watching.

    • @a8337z
      @a8337z 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FlyingwithRich If you add tip tanks it gives you 114 gallons you can do two six hour legs close to 1000 nm each. It also increases your useful load.
