Loving the old gen content. It really brings me back as DPP was around the time I got into competitive 'Mons and found your channel. Looking back, it's absolutely insane how you're still going strong and how much you've grown since then. Can't leave a second like or a second sub, so have this comment!
Seeing cloyster reminds me of how new moves can make some mons really boring. Cloyster has such a unique stat spread and movepool. Back when a stat of 180 wasn't common, it had a really interesting proposition as a mon with gargantuan defense and decent mixed offenses and speed balanced by a poor type and non existent spdef. Prior to gen 5 it did a lot of different jobs - from mixed attacker to bulky special sweeper to rapid spin physical wall. Then it got shell smash and all of those sets were invalidated. Now cloyster is really boring, and its physdef (and even its spatk to a degree) feels irrelevant. It's just going to shell smash and go for a sweep with icicle spear. There's probably other mons like that too that used to be fairly unique and diverse and then got that one buff that defined it to a single niche in the present. I'm too tired to think about it right now.
It kinda hit me in a similar way when Glisgor was poisoned and I saw it lose HP and I was like ???, but then I realized that toxic heal might not be a thing
