If you don't keep a balance of water to electrolyte you can become even more ill from just drinking pure water. So it will taste quite salty as it has no flavourings to help with the pure salt taste.
And it severely depends on your sodium and other salt levels how you taste salty stuff, a normal healthy person in the winter, early spring has quite high salt levels, so even a moderately salty stuff is not good in taste, during the summer after some workout, the same drink would be nice and tasty, and after some dehydration, that sea water level salty water would be almost neutral in taste.
