The inflatable mat is commonly called a ground pad, and is used for exactly what Tyler said, to keep the sleeper off of cold and/or wet ground. It's better to have a few layers, depending on how cold it is, so some leaves and small branches, maybe small logs laid in rows, then the ground pad. Add blanket and/or a sleeping bag and it's far more comfortable than directly on the ground. Nicer ones are just a roll of rubber, kind of like a yoga mat. I think it's a good idea for weight and space savings over a rubber one, but impractical for side sleepers.
I have a higher quality (but still affordable) version of that camping mat. It's just as narrow, but better designed, and you even have the choice of pumping it up with your foot or manually blowing air into it. I used it on a 6 month long road / camping trip & it is still completely usable. It feels a lot like sleeping on an air mattress. Not sure why the one in the video is designed so poorly, but my point is that you can get similar but better.
Could you use the second clip after you let the particles settle to the bottom, by using thatpowder ? I think this would really help the powder to filter all the water
That's how you are suppose to do it, you have to fold the thinner part and slide that purple stick into it since it's has three pieces with the middle one going between the folds so the sediment can settle at the bottom and the folded part won't allow water to come out. The thick blue clip is to put on the tube after the sediment has been separated from the water and you want to get it out of the package.
Yes. The clip goes on AFTER all the settling is done and you just want to purge out the coagulated material. Then you fold and slide the seal tube back on and remove the clip.

You should get one of those dissolved solids testers to see how much "cleaner" it really is. I would be interested to see how well these things actually filter out and clean the water. Just because it's clear, doesn't mean it's clean.
Can't speak for that brand, but most of these purification tablets or powders I've used do a surprisingly good job. They're not just filtering out the crud, but they have things in like the chlorine that sterilises anything left. I'd assume with them being a bigger brand that if they didn't work they'd have been sued and stopped from selling them by now.
Watching you not know how to use the simplest devices and then blaming the device for your user error is peak comedy. Keep doing you bro! For everyone else, that is NOT how you use the water filtration bag
Tyler, the chemical in the packet is more than likely an iodine packet, and it's a common use item for water treatment and cleaning when alone. It won't clean the water 100% absolutely clean as if it were a filter in your house but it will save your life over drinking other. It also cleans a good amount of water. If you were also wondering, a tiny tablet cleans about a liter for consumption. Not including the purged amount
Love your videos, very enjoyable to watch and certainly helps releive the stress of a heavy work load.I consider you a friend because your videos help me and you seem like a nice dude.
I've never even used this before and I can see how you messed up. Use the purple part only at 1st then once all the particles settle at the bottom you clamp it off and flush it out. Then you can drink it. But this is why I watch you, who wants to see things done right?!?
Honestly these 'super compact' items seem like a great idea to keep under your truck seats, in case it ever breaks down while you're in the middle of ass-backwards nowhere and need a way to spend a night or two before being rescued. Definitely not a bad idea to keep around since they're so small.
As a kayaker I want to know when Battle Box released a kayakers dream box. I use everything he just showed on multi day trips. I also have a lightweight extreme weather tent, a 0F rated compressible field bag, two small 8x8 tarps, 3 days of food, and the utensils and necessaries that I pack. It all fits inside my Kayak (Liquid Logic XP 10) in dry bags. Basically I can spend 3 nights on a river away from any sort of civilization and be perfectly fine. If push comes to shove I can ration food out a little more and go for 6-8 days if needed. All of these things Tyler just showed are super useful, lightweight, compact and easy to setup and use. With the right tent and gear you can setup an emergency camp in under 5 minutes.
I love how conscious he is about what he eats and drinks but then at the same time he'll do stupid dangerous things with nothing more than squint eye protection 🤣🤣
I'll be honest I think the water thing is a gimmick. I feel like most of the stuff that collected at the bottom of the bag is the powder you poured in. Plus, the whole "90% other ingredients" thing seems suspicious especially since it is a food item that you consume. I could be wrong though. Only way to find out is to test the water and look at it under a microscope.
Iirc, it's just to kill bacteria, same goes for any water purification tabs. When you use them the bac teria is still present but it be omes no longer harmful
I love the spaghetti noodles still stuck to the door... classic Edit: if you have trust issues, your not gonna survive. Clean water is gonna cost more in a zombie/nuke fallout situation than 5 catalytic converters in a crooks stolen u-haul...
You should do water testing strips!!! With both of those. And maybe a life straw!! Super interesting series!!! I’d be so curious so see if it indeed does get rid of bacteria etc.
You can trust the water from the grayl I own one and it’s a very good filter I mostly use mine with tap water. But have used it in river water and lake water.
It would be Kick-Ass to see you review ButcherBox!!! Tell us if it's worth purchasing!! It seems overpriced for such small, low quality cuts of meat in my opinion.
FYI, we have had ours for years and have had very few issues over that time. Had a couple of deliveries with meat that had cracked open on transit and they always replaced it without any complaints. A++ company and delightful meat Christmas when it arrives. My advice is to wait for a "free for life" promo code. Wings is the best, but beef and bacon are good too.
You think Tyler who self admits to knowing nothing about cooking should review meat? I can tell you his review, "here is some beef I'll throw it a grill and see how it taste, tastes like beef."
That water product wasn’t invented for domestic use lol was originally designed for the millions of people that can’t obtain clean water or live by no clean source of water and has saved millions of life’s and continues to do so yearly
My eyes are sore from the crying. Tyler said he wanted to compare the water and then tips out the original test glass. Loses most of the water from the bag, unable to read basic instructions. Finally and I thought the best bit Tyler only has 1 glass in his house and therefore gets a red plastic cup from which no one watching could see the finished water. Brilliant
Sooo we'll drink the bag water with the mystery orange stuff floating in it, but not the press filter that looked like it did better? Fair enough, I guess 🤣 Aaaaaalso, that mat would be FANTASTIC to put on a cot lol
You got to put the water in fold the bottom flap once then put the purple clip in. Then you put the packet in shake it and wait, then you put the clip above the dirt that is at the bottom and take the purple clip off to let the dirt water out
Tyler - I've NEVER had a problem getting a tent, sleeping bag, or air mattress back in the original bag. You simply have to think about them, and realize that most of them, you have to kneel on while you roll them.
16:18 okay wow... he won't taste it from this batch but he tastes it from the bagged water? so much for those trust issues! i guess he prefers his drinks bagged. 😂
that water purifier bag looks like it'd be better used if the bag was just put over tree leaves [or any leaves] because leaves transpire, water comes out of the leaves and so if left long enough you will gather water in the bag [which is sped up because the bag would help the leaves sweat more] . . no need for this design of water purifier when there's pure water coming from the leaves of the plant while the purifier would purify a larger amount in a shorter period of time, I believe the water you'd get from transpiration would be purer plus there's no added chlorine
Watching Tyler struggle to figure out the simplest things is beyond frustrating 😂

Anyone else screaming at their phone as hes doing it wrong? 🤣
Great as always, soon as he started with the water bag all l could think was, “it has begun”! 😂 Tyler The Every Man.
The purple straw part needs to be folded, you can use them at home as well.
Tyler I love you and will always watch your videos because it’s great watching you struggle!
That sounds like a super fun hobby
I was thinking the same thing! I kayak camp on river trips as well.
Having watched others use the water purifying bag successfully, this was absolutely hilarious
I’ve seen the bag work, that guy did NOT twist it up
"That guy" is our friend Tyler.
@@653j521 no, it’s not! Areal survival guy tested it in the fukin woods
I love the spaghetti noodles still stuck to the door... classic
Edit: if you have trust issues, your not gonna survive.
Maybe get a secondary UV water sanitizer on top of these systems. Get that 100% reliable water and not any possible life altering illnesses...
That water product wasn’t invented for domestic use lol was originally designed for the millions of people that can’t obtain clean water or live by no clean source of water and has saved millions of life’s and continues to do so yearly
Like the capitol city of Mississippi at the moment.
@@jamie_marie_ Jackson is not having a good time at the moment.
I laughed way too hard “it feels like I’m inside of a garbage bag “
Waiting on the garbage truck to throw him away
He owns a real glass? a glass made out of glass? The man who has no ceramic bowl or metal fork actual has one item that a normal human uses!
I'm willing to bet it was in the back of a cabinet and very dusty or he bought it for the video
Brilliant
Watching Tyler seemingly discover a backpacking sleeping pad was interesting lol
Watching you struggle with the bag was HILARIOUS!
Haven't they made tablets for years you can add to water to purify. If so it sure seems like it'd be a lot easier. That or just a life straw.
Honestly didn't expect you to have Gang Gang slides lol Dope video and subbed to the channel good job bro!
Sooo we'll drink the bag water with the mystery orange stuff floating in it, but not the press filter that looked like it did better? Fair enough, I guess 🤣
Aaaaaalso, that mat would be FANTASTIC to put on a cot lol
Only person I’ve ever seen to struggle with that water bag
"Okay guys everyone got their survival bags ready? You remembered to pack your pillows and tables right?" 💀
6:41 Maybe put the full bag in a 5 gallon bucket to steady it for you. 🤔
Been using a Grayl bottle for years..one of the ONLY things I trust.
Its the Gang Gang slides for me 😂😂
hey! give credit man!!! the table fit back in its bag too!!! lolol, great video Tyler :D
Refuses to read instruction, continues to use things incorrectly , resulting in his and our total frustration.
Real bivy covers combined with the woobie is a combo from God himself
blow up bed works very well, i used it when i went hiking, its small and comfortable
Mark Rober did an excellent video on that water purification powder!
So, what chemicals are in it?
You got to put the water in fold the bottom flap once then put the purple clip in. Then you put the packet in shake it and wait, then you put the clip above the dirt that is at the bottom and take the purple clip off to let the dirt water out
"Instructions...I don't think we need that." You do! You definitely DO! 🤣🤣🤣
3:26 lol…. I’d guess fold the corners in. Slide on the purple part, and use it to roll up the bag. The simply use the blue clamp to clamp it off.
Thank you for the content! I appreciate you figuring out things on camera. Keep up the great videos!!!
I’m just always so… amused, I’ll say, with your videos. You struggling with that first one killed me.
Imagine you hear you neighbour making strange noises and you walk into Tyler’s garage at 22:17, and see him laid like that 😂😂
Tyler - I've NEVER had a problem getting a tent, sleeping bag, or air mattress back in the original bag. You simply have to think about them, and realize that most of them, you have to kneel on while you roll them.
Please for all of us do the ONE CHIP CHALLENGE
16:18 okay wow... he won't taste it from this batch but he tastes it from the bagged water? so much for those trust issues! i guess he prefers his drinks bagged. 😂
that water purifier bag looks like it'd be better used if the bag was just put over tree leaves [or any leaves]
because leaves transpire, water comes out of the leaves and so if left long enough you will gather water in the bag [which is sped up because the bag would help the leaves sweat more] . . no need for this design of water purifier when there's pure water coming from the leaves of the plant
while the purifier would purify a larger amount in a shorter period of time, I believe the water you'd get from transpiration would be purer plus there's no added chlorine
Of course by then you would be dead, but you wouldn't have ingested chlorine.
My rivers water looks like iced tea thats been concentrated you've got some clean river water.
Yay! A new bottle box video
Tyler the water bag works great. I find it funny how you call everything dumb or stupid when its you that arent following instructions
