My first real shark tooth I got was a Mako tooth I wore for years, but I wanted a Great White shark tooth as well. My shark too hobby ended with $50 for it.

There are many ways to introduce yourself into the world of sharktooth hunting. I usually find myself going WAY over the top right from the get go. I do most of my sharktoothing in and around Sarasota Florida where many sharkteeth are naturally deposited. They easiest, least stressful way to find them is simply walking the beach with eyes peeled. In the past I have taking more of a gold prospectors approach by working my way down into the sand with a huge aluminum scoop, sifting the material in a floating sieve as it comes out of the ground. it was torture on the back, but yielded some spectacular results. I was able to hit some pockets around large shoreline rocks by working adjacent to them and slowly under them. The theory behind this method was looking in places where others aren't with hopes of increasing the quality and quantity of the finds.
