Hi Tom and you're welcome :-) We've got one of my favourite finishes coming up in a few weeks - the Blue Silverburst from 2007. Cheers, Gary :-)

Hi JonBon :-) I haven't had hold of an HP model and didn't know they did the pop-out pickguards on those but like you, I think every guitar should have them! Cheers, Gary :-)

Hi Gary, I hope you're well. This is a unique moment in writing YT comments for me, it's the first and most probably the last time that I'll ever be able to say that you're playing a Gibson guitar on the channel where I got to try one before you did. I liked it, but for me the playing experience was very different from what you'd expect a Les Paul to be. I like the feel of a 9lb chunk of mahogany sitting on my lap and feeling it resonate. However I'm sure there are plenty of folks who'd see the slim lighter body as a positive advantage and maybe I would too if it was going to be hanging from my shoulder for two hours a night on a ten night run of working mens clubs where you lug your gear up two flights of stairs before you even play a note. I love the finish on the whole range of this model. Funnily enough the one I tried was the same colour as this one.

Hi Rod, all good here and I hope all is well with you, too :-) I'm pleased to hear your report on this model and I know exactly what you mean. There is a reassuring feel to a 9 or 10 pounder but as you say, for playing 2 hour sets on a regular basis it makes a lot of sense! Cheers, Gary :-)

Splendid demo of an intetesting new model Gary. Am I right in thinking it's a carved mahogany top rather than maple?

Hi Bob and thanks :-) It is indeed a carved mahogany top. The edge to the top rises by around 12mm in depth. Cheers, Gary :-)

Hi Gary. I wondered how you felt this compares to the Godin SG matte green you had on here a few years ago. They look similar even though the Godin has a slab body instead of carved and has a wraparound tail piece instead of a tube o matic bridge. But both are two humbucker single cut style guitars no binding and with dot fret board markers.

@@macgruff69 Hi and that’s a great question. They’re honestly like chalk and cheese. I’ve reviewed another Godin a few weeks ago and their guitars always blow me away. Make no mistake, I’m a massive Gibson fan but these Godin guitars are so well made and thoughtfully constructed that they’re impossible to ignore. The sounds are totally different so that’s something that’s down to the individual. The Godin feels very similar to a 2015 LP Junior or Special with its broad neck c/w regular string spacing. Their humbuckers produce a completely individual sound and they just feel a bit special. Cheers, Gary 😊🎸

Hi Blueberry :-) It's a fair shout. No two ways about it, these last few years Epiphone have really upped their game. Cheers, Gary :-)
