Tex-Mex Cowboy Genie, is how their manager describes it in an interview. Per his drummer, he always dressed like this. He didn’t have stage clothes & street clothes. This is 100% SRV.
That's right, since Bowie's management would not allow SRV to include his band Double Trouble on the tour or do any promotions related to his upcoming Texas Flood album. Frustrated by this, along with his struggle to kick his cocaine habit, SRV walked out of the tour while Bowie himself was still on vacation, and his (SRV's) manager Chesley Millikin removed all of SRV's equipment from Bowie's tour bus, this being just one week before the Serious Moonlight tour was to begin in Belgium. To replace SRV, Bowie's management picked up Earl Slick (who first worked with Bowie on his 1976 album Station to Station), who subsequently had to learn all 31 songs in the setlist on the spot.
@@ClassicTVMan1981Xthe problem was that the Bowie's manager, offered him only 500 or 1000 bucks per week, and that was not enough, because Stevie was feeding all his band on tour, but they were paying him just for being a backing musician. And the worst part is that apparently David didn't know about that, untill Stevie left the band tour, they didn't have a feud, because they met again on 1989

Apparently you don't really know what Stevie was all about. Stevie never cared about being billionaire, if the money came he was happy... if it didn't he was ok with that too. Actually, John Hammond "discovered" Stevie Ray and Double Trouble. A few years later Bowie hired Stevie after a Montreaux Jazz fest performance. Subsequently, and also with the collaboration with Nile Rodgers (another world famous guitarist), which resulted in the "Let's Dance" album. Released after a 4 year recording slump in Bowie's career. The " Let's Dance" album, Bowie's best selling album. Afterwards Bowie's writing and production never matched that success again. I do believe it was that without Nile and Stevie , Bowie would have faded and all involved contractually would've been less rich.
Bowie did not make SRV a millionaire. He saw Stevie at a jazz festival in Switzerland, and loved his guitar playing so much that he asked him to play on his new album Let’s dance. He also made the implication that Stevie and his band double trouble would be able to open, at least some of the shows on the tour. It was not a contract, but it was just a way for him to entice Stevie to do it. When Stevie found out that there were not going to be any opening shows for his band, and also was told that he was not allowed to speak about his band, himself or his own music to the press, that was the last straw for him.
