My father had the same operation back in the 70’s years later on this death bed he said “I always thought I was going to die of a heartache”. His heart never did fail after that operation. Cancer got him. Wishing you the best Jimmy, play on and enjoy your family time.

Had it not been for this man, we might have never heard of Stevie as a Musician. JRV is a stellar Musican songwriter in his own rights.
So happy Jimmie’s doing well. My father had quadruple bypass at age 70, and another at age 80. Both surgeries added many high quality years to his life, so hoping it does the same for Jimmie.
Oh Praise God 👍🏻all that man knows Is Given By our Creator. My Dad Had it Also . He Lived longer Than most of all his Family - they Had Heart Disease- and Many Passed. 😞
I was lucky. I didn't have a heart attack or any symptoms, but because of my age (61 then ----2012) my doctor recommended a stress test. Long story short, I also had a quad bypass, and after 6 months, returned to my band who had waited for me, and to my taekwondo class, who had not. Bless Jimmie, and I recommend a heart stress test for anyone 50 or older. You might feel great, but so did I, even though I was a heartbeat away from dropping dead.
I think he does from other musicians (and their audiences), but traditional blues music is far outside the musical mainstream these days. A couple years ago, Texas Flood: The Inside Story of SRV authors Alan Paul and Andy Aledort, did an online group chat to promote the book, and their perspective on Jimmie’s career was insightful. (That entire hour-long chat is interesting and worth a listen, full of insight on the SRV world.)
I'm so glad Jimmie was able to have the heart surgery and is doing well now. I always enjoy hearing his recorded music and look forward to seeing him in concert.
Usually health news about our loved musicians is not good, often the worse. So great to hear and see JLV doing well and planning to continue blessing the music world with his incredible gift. BEST AND PEACE
Jimmy Vaughan was one of the finest people I met in a 40 yr career as a Canadian promoter/festival owner/radio DJ, ever! Gave his entire bands rider to the stage crew, at one of my festivals, in London Ontario. So glad you’re on the mend, brother! Peace
I grew up listening to family style by the Vaughan Brothers when it first came out. I have fond memories taking long trips with my mom and listening to that album. And I still put it on from time to time for The nostalgia it gives me

I'm glad your still with us Jimmy. Sometimes life isn't fair or right but you definitely got a second chance. My Apartment Managers 40 year old son died in his sleep and I see what it's done to her. So great Jimmie came through ok. Would love to see him perform in person sometime. It's sad but perfectly understandable hearing about how Stevie's death still affects him on certain days....
Jimmie is my hero, what a freaking humble righteous gentleman. Saw him a few years back and can't wait to see him out again, will fly anywhere to see him.
Jimmie is great, he plays the guitar just right, beautiful tone, very tasteful, honoring the blues and rock’n’roll tradition. Love Jimmie, may he play for many years.
Congrats on a new lease on life. We all need that-one way or another-sooner or later. It’s great to see him hit the ground running and making the most of his renewed health.
Jimmy. The first time I saw Steve was at CCCC Portland, Maine 1985. Only 500 people showed up. They didn't turn the lights out for an hour. Stevie sat on the edge of the stage and hung out with us. He's The Man. My favorite blues player by far. Any weekend I wasn't working I would drive from Dallas to Austin to watch him play. Now I drive from Nashville down to Austin ( C-Boys) to hear him play. And it's always worth it. I, along with so many others, am glad to call him a friend.
