Everyone that loved Stevie Ray Vaughan, still does. I think SRV was alway's such a loving person. You could just feel that about him. I can only imagine what it was like, for Tommie & Chris, to have suddenly lost him. All of us that loved him, still have that love in our heart's for him. 💞
These cats had an incredible run with Stevie. Short, but incredible. I have often wondered how Double Trouble/SRV's career would have worked out if the accident hadn't happened. I'm sure that it woudl have been magical.
I had the good fortune of meeting and unbelievably playing pool with Buddy Guy at his club in Chicago. in my opinion Buddy is in the top 5 guitar players. Anyway, we were chatting really casually and without thinking at some point I asked him about his friendship with Stevie. I instantly regretted it as he just stopped and went quiet for a few seconds. "There'll never be another" was his response. It was clear he had a genuine love for him.
Yes sir, was just wondering about them two so been googling around, to this day I’m 64 he’s still one of my absolute favorite guitarist and singers, the Whole frickin package ❤️❤️❤️
To Chris and Tommy, I am so proud of you. So soft spoken and honest. I used to see you all in the mid 70’s and of course loved what you were doing. I was from the DC area by the way but eventually moved to Richmond to attend University. One day when your first big record came out I was at the right place at the right time and saw Stevie trying out a few guitars at a shop called Sweetie Peeties. The folks that owned the music shop also owned a record store called Plan 9 in Richmond Va. After trying out a few guitars they brought a copy of your first big album for Stevie to sign which he did. Of course they thanked him, and what has always struck me, was his heart felt response.... no... thank you!!! I will never forget that. A man of true humility!!
This right here is why youtube comments should exist. Specific, heartfelt anecdotes from real people. TH-cam comments these days are mostly people insulting each other or calling each other racist at the same time somehow lol... I wish we could just filter all those out. Although sometimes it really is kind of fun to just unreasonably unload a week's worth of stress on someone for no reason haha
Stevie Ray Vaughan made exquisite and distinctive sounds that came from the bottom of his sweet little heart. It’s inspiring to see the love and admiration his friends have for him. What a guy💗
I saw him every night for a whole week at Club de Montreal just before he make it to the big times, I was completely blown away. Talked to him numerous times between sets & after the show, he was really a down to earth fellow.
On Stevie being angry over BB King opening - THAT is why the people who knew him, loved him so much - he was respectful of everyone, and never forgot where he came from, and who was there before him. Anyone who has seen the In Session video of him and Albert King that was recorded for Canadian TV can see that.
‘Everybody knows what a great guitar player Stevie was, I wish everyone could know him as a person because he was really a beautiful person’ That’s so sweet man they really loved him
One of my high school math teachers was at this show. He even got one of Stevie's picks. One day he brought it to school to show us which was really cool.
very extremely rare to have an artist that was the whole package like stevie. guitarist, the voice, the looks and the soul and humble kindness. just go and try to find all that in another artist. you might find some of those traits but not all in one package. rest easy stevie!
These guys praised Stevie when they were also special. They are the whole package as well. They added to their music, are humble, loving like brothers who lived each other. They speak so wise and beautifully. As we miss Stevie, these guys are special and still here and I hope they perform again maybe with Quinn Sullivan. Then again do they not feel it will ever be the same to perform without Stevie. I hope they do since I enjoy them as well as Stevie. Doyble trouble wouldn’t be the whole package without Chris and Tom.
They wouldn’t be Double Trouble without SRV though. You can tell by hearing them he was their heart. But they’d still be one hell of a band for someone. I agree though. It’d be really awesome to see and hear them with with another really strong guitarist.

A LOT Of People Came To Recovery Because Of Stevie - He Would Be Happy About That Because He REALLY CARED About People & About Them Not Living In The Hell Of Substance Addiction That He Had Fought Thru! I Miss Stevie To This Day - & Hearing Him & These Guys Live! I Saw Them For The Last Time On July 17 Of 1990 & They Were SO Fucking Good!!! Stevie Was So On🔥🔥🔥 - So Full Of Life & Played With So Much Abandon & So Much Pleasure!! Bought Live at El Macambo in 1996 when stationed in Okinawa, Japan and me and my buddies sat and watched his just play.his.ass.off. Especially Texas Flood, the version in that set was just unreal and the heart he played with was on full display.
Stevie's performance at the El Mocambo in Toronto was perfection.. if Double Trouble didn't think Canadians were more demonstrative, the thing is, they were purely blown away by his performance and spellbound by this prodigy.. I watched the video & was speechless just glued to the video, his playing - awestruck & dumbfounded..
If you say there is another group of three musicians anywhere who are better men than Chris Layton Tommy Shannon and SRV then Ill call you a liar. What a perfect combination that will never be replicated. Fine guys on and off the stage. God bless you guys. RIP SRV. Mountain of talent doesn't do these two justice. They are the BEST.
Blessed to have had the privilege of seeing SRV and DT 3 times. Thanks for sharing your personal memories of Stevie. I've been sad at the loss of many great talents over the decades, all taken too soon, but I was never heartbroken until the loss of Stevie.
SRV and Double Trouble Live at the El Mocambo. I have not watched a performance that lives upto it or gives me the same shock and awe. Most amazing live performance ever recorded on tape.
Micheal Shenenker walked into the El Mo, and called it a dump.he seem to forget he played there w the Scorpion s, live in Toronto so I got it from a employee at the time.

Tommy and Chris nine years after Stevie Ray Vaughan's death is still in grieving process ..that's what I Think..While Stevie was alive they all had each other to learn on so to say and they got closer to one another..Stevie's death changed everything for the band in which brought on this shock to get over..No one was expecting such a thing to happen ..we never do until it happens all of a sudden..God bless Chris and Tommy..and hopefully the band will find there way and create there own game in life and move on....its sad when death separates you..
Don't see these great entertainers anymore since Stevie Ray Vaughan died in the helicopter crash....Chris Layton and Tommy Shannon and. REESE Waylon were terrific musicians...To see these great men not perform with Stevie Ray Vaughan anymore is heart breaking because we all know Stevie had no limits on writing his songs and performing on stage and so loved by all fans..
Watching the 3 of you playing together I’d get the feeling you were all in tune with each other you just knew…you spoke thru your music. Ya’ll are pure magic. ❤
Stevie Ray Vaughan, greatest guitar player that ever lived or walked on a stage..u can tell these band members are still in grief over Stevie's passing..u can hear the hurt and see the pain in there words and in facial expressions..life goes on
Someone once told me that the lead is like the moon, the bass is like the stars and the rhythm is the black sky. What a beautiful tribute to Stevie. We can clearly see Stevie was not the only one who was humble. This interview speaks volumes about Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble.
Yes Stevie is the big dog. I love his style. No one like him but I’d like to give credit to you guys . We all love y’all too! Just as Stevie. You guys will be remembered too so give yourselves some credit guys ! Love y’all too ! ❤️

It's Very Comforting - As Is His Beautiful Song "Life Without You"...It Has Helped Me With Grief In My Life, Especially Stevies' Death....He Knew.....! Soul💞Soul, Stevie!❤😘
I have to admit I might've gotten a little teary-eyed watching this. Of course we all know the kinda dude Stevie was (the man, the 'myth' the legend, stp), but his compadres seem like pretty cool cats themselves. They of course weren't the ones in the spotlight the way he was ('cause let's face it, there is only one Stevie, and, well...it speaks for itself), but, I think they have earned a little recognition themselves, and, I can see why Stevie loved and respected them so much. Just good, humble, down-to-earth Texas folk.
I'm So Greatful To Have Had The Great Honor To Hear Him Live In Concert Twice!! His Huge Spirt Lives On In Me And In All Of Us, Who Still Play His Music!!!
I'm in my 50's and wasn't really into music back in the day. Certainly not music that wasn't played on regular radio stations. Not sure I could have picked SRV out of a lineup however over the last few weeks I have listened to more SRV music than I had in probably the previous 35 years. I am in awe of his skills and passion and am grateful that he got things together at the end. What a tremendous talent.
He was so beautiful he showed his heart and soul threw his music I heard it felt it he’s the only one I ever felt it from he was so talented and beautiful and humble he was funny I couldn’t listen to him after he died for a while it made me so sad spiritually he was always beautiful rip beautiful Stevie you are loved and missed ❤ thank you to your talented beautiful band and who ever put this video out thank you 😊 it helps with missing him and his love and joy ❤
I had the pleasure of spending time with these two Great musicians in 1998. We spoke of their time with Stevie and the feelings from these guys in that room was immense. RIP Stevie
I like hearing the band say the say things we all feel about his talent and how it just flows. Even if you can’t think of the word to describe it or think of a different word to describe the same thing flow, timing, rhythm, endless different sounds ext ,we’re all thinking the same thing. He was a siren .
The band knew they were legends on stage along with The legend Stevie Ray Vaughan..no questions asked..u got it? STEVIE IS A PEOPLES'S PERSON and he was so humble thru life..Stevie never changed of who he was and who he stayed..Stevie was talented and esulated movements on stage with guitar and from there he went on each time in performance..RIP
Thank you SRV and Double Trouble you guy s shared the message with me personally through your music that No addict need die from the horror of addiction you changed my life for ever in the best way possible my friends thanx for sending the love my way 🇨🇦
Man I had a video of both shows that I mustve watched 200 times in my 20's before any youtube etc..This will be a trip down memory lane. I couldn't get over how good stevie was. He's one guitar player who makes the listening experience better when you watch him. Usually that don't matter to me but with Stevie it did. It's ridiculous watching him play
A very talented Stevie Ray Vaughan with his talented band on stage..song writer and producer ..a great entertainer and performer on stage..Stevie was so humble and on target..always knew where he was headed ..a legend that only got more famous and heard with his Whammy bar and guitar..RIP Stevie, still remembering his great music and songs
I was in a band and our opening song wasn't having the effect we wanted. Somebody suggested we change the opener to SRV's "The House is a-Rockin.". The guitar player got ripping on the solos, and it made our nightly starts a lot better.
These guys are pure CLASS! what a very special group of guys that understood each other so much they all played in amazing HARMONY. without a plan, just winging it every night. You can definitely see how these 2 blended so well with STEVIE, they all seem to be the nicest and calmest guy. Just like STEVIE.
This is so cool hearing Chris and Tommy talk about Stevie Ray. It's not like we don't appreciate Double Trouble. The first time I ever saw or heard Kenney Wayne Shepherd play was at an SRV Memorial Ride & Concert. Arl., Tx Tommy and Chris were playing with him. So excited to see them. They were doing "King Bee" when I walked in and just froze. Wow. Shockingly close. It's mostly at the end of songs when you see band members give each other a glance or gesture. Tommy and Chris keep a close eye on Stevie Ray the whole time. I've noticed that. They never knew where he was going to go or what song comes next. 😮They say it like that was no big deal. Awesome. BB King's band was real sharp like that. Watching him. I just say that it's magic too, Chris. When people ask how does he do that? It is facinating watching Stevie Ray play up close. But his fingers moving like that still don't seem to match all those sounds we're hearing. 😊✌💙
I met Stevie and Jimmie at a show Jimmie was playing in Dallas right when Stevie had started getting radio airplay and he was very worried about drawing attention away from his brother by being there. It made me feel bad because I had heard him on the Q102 radio station and exclaimed to my sister, "Who is THAT???!"...and her husband had known him in Oak Cliff so they took me to meet him. I didn`t know who his brother was at that time but my interest in him also led me to his brother`s music afterwards.
To have the people who knew him the best, hold him in such high esteem, and talk about him with such beautiful words, is truly special. We should all be so fortunate.
Wonderful! Two notes and you know it's Stevie. One of a kind, a total original. And Tommy Shannon played bass for two of the greatest blues guitarists ever, a great accomplishment. And when I lived in Austin in the mid- nineties I saw Whipper slip into Joe's Generic Bar on Sixth Street and sit in. Great guys, thanks for posting this
Wonderful , honest, and heartrending to listen to these two guys, talking of their late great fellow musician, who earned every word of adoration from them, He truly was a genius of a guitar player, and yet he still lauded all these other musicians like he was a student who still had much to learn, What a nice man Stevie was.We miss him so much,
We all come from somewhere in life that we truly never will be discovered or made known..but..we find a way to exist among others..Stevie Ray Vaughan is the greatest guitar player and singer and professional on stage of all time..and the band and people he made association with understood all that ..SENSATIONAL..
Both just confirmed what I always thought. Just something special going on when he played. It's a little crazy that it's not lost even when watching him on a screen.
Tommy Sherman and Chris both give a great interview and you can see both haven't really as of yet gotten past Stevie Ray Vaughan's death..and it's understandable because Stevie was like there leader and he was on stage and Stevie livened up there performance's in music profession..They formed a Bond on that stage and off the stage and Stevie will never be forgotten..
My band opened up for Kenny Wayne Shepard 2012 in Charleston WV. And I talked to Chris Layton for a little while and he was so incredibly nice and told a couple really cool Stevie stories!!! It was a Great Evening!!!
Seeing Layton and KWS at Experience Hendrix along with Buddy Guy and so many more! At certain times someone takes the lead and the crowd responds and there is a give and take between crowd and performers each one sustains the others with energy. This special concert moments, when it was happening Layton would get this look like this is what we had all the time, every time we took the stage. Some shows have that for a moment, surfing a peak wave on energy. You could see that spark in Chris, this is what we do it for, it is who we are. The SRV shows baptized people in that, wave after wave!
Whipper's right about the "extra energy" Stevie had. In reading the latest biography, Texas Flood, one of his early girlfriends, Lindi Bethel, recalled Stevie jumping into a car beside her, their legs touched and she felt an electric shock. Lil Lightning Bug Stevie struck again.
I’ll never forget the announcement on the radio, KLBJ FM. Shock ran thru Austin. KLBJ put on a live remote at town lake (Austin) that evening to commemorate Stevie. Every flavor of human breeding was there. I’ll never forget it.
I dont hesitate to say it best guitar player ever
Stevie was by far the greatest guitarist to ever walk planet Earth.
These two guys are legends imo. They wrote and played music with one of the greatest of all time for years. My hats off to these great musicians.
Absolutely 100% YES these two guys are LEGENDS. No doubt about it.. this is freaking Double Trouble are you kidding me?
Totally agree

RIP Stevie Ray Vaughan (October 3, 1954 - August 27, 1990), aged 35
You will always be remembered as a legend.
Stevie may have been an influence to many but no one since has ever got anywhere near his brilliance
Can you imagine hanging out with these two cats for a day and listening to all the cool stories they have.
Oh, to be a fly on the wall.
Stevie Ray Vaughan made exquisite and distinctive sounds that came from the bottom of his sweet little heart. It’s inspiring to see the love and admiration his friends have for him. What a guy💗

We lost the greatest guitarist who ever lived that beat addiction just to die from a freaking helicopter
Stevie Ray Gave Us So Much More Than Great Guitar Playing, He Gave Us His Heart And Soul In Every Song He Ever Played!!
Same here!
Tommy and Chris are probably the best and tightest rhythm section there is. I still have Live at El Macombo on VHS!
Live at the El mocambo is one ofmy f the greatest live albums ever produced
RIP Stevie
What a loss, but at least he was with for awhile, and, he left us with a gift.
Eric Clapton said the same thing when he heard SRV on the radio. He said he had to pull off the road and listen to find out who that was.
I like hearing the band say the say things we all feel about his talent and how it just flows.
Even if you can’t think of the word to describe it or think of a different word to describe the same thing flow, timing, rhythm, endless different sounds ext ,we’re all thinking the same thing.
He was a siren .
Just when you thought you couldn't love Stevie Ray anymore than you all ready do----you listen and feel the revere expressed by Tommy and Chris.
Yes Stevie was a master of the guitar, but more importantly Stevie was an instrument of the Master! R.I.P. Stevie..fly on, fly high, bye, bye, bye...
Thank you SRV and Double Trouble you guy s shared the message with me personally through your music that No addict need die from the horror of addiction you changed my life for ever in the best way possible my friends thanx for sending the love my way 🇨🇦
You can feel and see Stevie was his authentic self while playing and in interviews. I loved that about him.
Thank god there's so much live footage
You guys are beautiful.
His time was short but oh how he used it. 🙌🙌🙌🙌🤩
I was in a band and our opening song wasn't having the effect we wanted. Somebody suggested we change the opener to SRV's "The House is a-Rockin.". The guitar player got ripping on the solos, and it made our nightly starts a lot better.
And your Awesome !!! Tommy and Chris !!
Just a great interview by a great pair of band mates who obviously loved their leader dearly.
god this is so sad.. what a great documentary. SRV was a genius..
I like the story of him and the 2 pens :)
hmm+mondovb
That's a cocaine story if ever I've heard one
@@indiefruit Ha ha that's what I was thinking !!!!!
It wasn’t just a show it was a work of art that forever went down in history.
He was an extraordinary, beautiful human.
Awesome interview. Really touching. Those guys love Stevie Ray Vaughan.
These guys are pure CLASS! what a very special group of guys that understood each other so much they all played in amazing HARMONY. without a plan, just winging it every night. You can definitely see how these 2 blended so well with STEVIE, they all seem to be the nicest and calmest guy. Just like STEVIE.
Well said Shari. You nailed it. Just such gentle humble men. A perfect match for Stevie.
Stevie was the whole package. Guitar player and human being. I have heard so many nice things said about this man. He was just special in every way...
These guys are so cool, no wonder Stevie chose to play with them!
Yes
This is so cool hearing Chris and Tommy talk about Stevie Ray.
It's not like we don't appreciate
Double Trouble.
The first time I ever saw or heard Kenney Wayne Shepherd play was at an SRV Memorial Ride &
Concert. Arl., Tx
Tommy and Chris were playing with him.
So excited to see them.
They were doing
"King Bee" when I walked in and just froze.
😊✌💙
They really miss Stevie 😢😢💔😢
Great guys, thanks for posting this
Best rythem section of all time !!!!
They are both so eloquent and well spoken.
This interview Never gets old..
I agree
And a beautiful statue it is
Wonderful , honest, and heartrending to listen to these two guys, talking of their late great fellow musician, who earned every word of adoration from them, He truly was a genius of a guitar player, and yet he still lauded all these other musicians like he was a student who still had much to learn, What a nice man Stevie was.We miss him so much,
Definitely the best live performance you can watch from Stevie
Stevie Ray was lucky to have such a talented brother to grow up with. 👍🎶❤️❤️
Apologies ; when I referred to Jimmy I was commenting on the previous vid. Double Trouble were of course righteous indeed! ❤️🎶👍❤️
We all come from somewhere in life that we truly never will be discovered or made known..but..we find a way to exist among others..Stevie Ray Vaughan is the greatest guitar player and singer and professional on stage of all time..and the band and people he made association with understood all that ..SENSATIONAL..
Jimi and Stevie soul was intertwined. In the next one dont be late. Dont be late. I'm a voodoo chile
Love the story about being in the mall with the pipes.
Both just confirmed what I always thought. Just something special going on when he played. It's a little crazy that it's not lost even when watching him on a screen.
All around very fine interview. Well done Tommy & Chris, feeling the love.
He still helps people!.. even in death
One of the few players that literally makes me cry. Along with Albert Colins, Albert King, Lightnin' Hopkins and, of course Jimmy...
Stevie was, and still is, the absolute, number one, God of guitar.
They confirmed the feelings I have about Stevie and his music/soul.
He is special and always will be.
His extra energy before 1985 was from cocaine. Lots of cocaine. Thank God he got sober. He said he really enjoyed life more sober.
@@srcastic8764 yeah and was a better guitarist sober...rest his soul
I’ll never forget the announcement on the radio, KLBJ FM. Shock ran thru Austin. KLBJ put on a live remote at town lake (Austin) that evening to commemorate Stevie. Every flavor of human breeding was there. I’ll never forget it.
