Coukd you imagine people playing Halo 5, the Infinity Hub is released, and people fall in love with it! They spend years with it - hopping in to play customs, forge, ranked, whatever, and its synonymous with the Halo social experience... Then Infinite finally releases, and the first scene we see is the Infinity being torn apart and falling toward the ring. The rest of the game focusing on survival, regret, and dispair as chief tries sort through the wreckage and put the pieces of humanity back together. They dropped the ball so hard on this one, it baffles me. Like, imagine you unlock a new hub, one thats dingy and falling apart, and as you play through the campaign, you slowly unlock upgrades that turn it back into a place of hope and joy. The incompetency is honestly impressive.
Did you play call of duty ww2? People absolutely hated the social hub. In Halo 5 it would of almost certainly included an area to watch players open req packs. We are truly richer without this
Hmm fair. Knowing these companies, a "AAA title" would be turned into a hot mess. But the protentional is still there, if it has the right people keeping it player friendly.@@Dance_Yrself_Clean
For how long it took to make and update infinity, they are better off pulling a rockstar and dropping the greatest halo of all time. I’m tired of these half baked games
So long as people mindlessly consume half baked garbage and overpay for micro transactions we won’t get games that are complete on launch. This isn’t just a gaming issue either, consumers (at least Americans) have no problem paying for trash because “well that’s just how it is” and god for if we hold these multi million dollar companies accountable by not engaging with them.
I completely agree. Halo needs a slam dunk if they want to achieve the same relevance they once had. And they’re not gonna get that unless they put in the time like an RDR2 or BOTW.
I think at the end of the day, people still want classic Halo menus. It worked for all of classic Halo up to Reach and when they started to mess with it all in the 343 games, it says a lot with the whole if it's not broke, don't fix it. I think, while it would be cool to have its own game mode, people won't like it if they have to walk around a massive hub just to access multiplayer. But I would have loved to see it, as a Campaign lover and a fan of the stories, and characters of the Halo Universe, this would have been a fun experience to explore in. I would for something like this in VR. EDIT: I'm so sad the INFINITY was just pushed aside and destroyed off-screen. Putting aside how bad the story was in Halo 5, one good thing in the 343 era was the INFINITY ship and Lasky's character. One of the best things they had from Halo 4 and 5 and just nowhere to be found in Infinite.
Man H5 truly was the better "live service game" It added dozens of weapons and vehicles and assassination animations, tons of new armor and tons of new modes and maps for arena all while heavily supporting and adding content to Warzone mode. Oh yeah they even added firefight technically and had forge out a couple months after launch. All that stuff got done in a two year span and it was all for free, say what you will about the req system and req packs but the amount of content we got was crazy and it was all free/earnable without spending money. 2 years into Infinite we got a few new maps and modes, 1 new weapon, firefight kinda and a shit ton of store stuff If Halo 5 had a better campaign and wasn't so egregious on the art style change it's up there with the best Halo games
The Academy in Infinite was 100% supposed to be the same thing. If you play the multiplayer tutorial infinite there's so much built out in the academy, hell the firing range is already there as well. I remember when Infinite came out they were adamant new academy things were going to be added as well as part of the "live service" and I was certain Academy turing into a hub was going to be one of them.
I hope they make something like this in the next Halo. Would also be great if they brought back Spartan abilities and Spartan Ops. If felt nice having our created Spartans be closer to lore accurate Spartans and actually doing something besides smacking each other in pvp.
The fact they had this and didn't follow through with it, and then had this EXACT SAME OPPORTUNITY with the Academy, and STILL didn't follow through with it… Breaks my heart man.
I'm happy that 343 didn't make a destiny style hub for halo 5. Game was already rough, and it would be been worse if you had to waste time running to 6 different places to open a lootbox and get a weapon skin
Totally makes sense, the way H4 "wargames" was layed out as all MP being a simulation, there's always been lots of concept art of the Infinity and the interior of it as well
it honestly needs to be added to steam as an individual game with everything from the original game rather than just the multiplayer like H5: Forge did
Social hubs we're the big thing back then in AAA games, back then it was just a way to show off people buying MTX and opening lootboxes which was awful, Halo 5 would have been the same tbh
Basically they reinvented Destiny’s main port (forgot the name). I think it’s interesting idea. But it’s a waste of time for an MP. Why would I go to different level to play a Arena Match. It sound time consuming.
Hey, very interesting video ! Just a little journalistic tip : "I confirmed", "I was able to confirm" isn't a confirmation. It could be if you had shown us two proofs or exemples such as articles, tweets, etc... (even if tweets aren't reliable imo) from different sources that confirm what you're saying. If not, we can't really trust you.
This would have been terrible for people that would want to play MP only, yes, the enviroments would have been cool, but that doesn't justify why it would be so bad for the Multiplayer, since it would be a total waste of time to navigate the entire area for 40-50 minutes just to play a 12 hour match, it may have worked in the campaign, but i´m sure that this would have been bad if it was on the Multiplayer
While H5s story was a mess, the multiplayer was so incredibly well thought out, imo is still the best multiplayer the series has been, we can only imagine how more awesome it would've been Awesome video btw, your channel is extremely unique among the halo fan base, fr, your channel will blow up in no time brother
Glad this got canned. It would have taken away from the actual multiplayer experience. Oh and fyi, the infinity isn’t confirmed destroyed. It’s listed as mia. All we know is that Halsey wasn’t on it when it was attacked.
@HuntersWrath Yeah if they were going to revert a bunch of the stuff, they should’ve gone back even further to Reach type movement imo. Keeping half of Halo 5’s mobility just feels bad to me.
The campaign is nowhere near as bad as people make out. The game is a lot of fun, and for me it was a natural progression of the Halo franchise. Great game.
I swear if th'll cut cool idea again that make halo badass 😡 i dont care if the next halo game release a dacade from now just make it worth the wait and goty potentiel
So, they were just going to rip off Destiny? Probably good that it got scrapped. In 2015 it would've looked pretty pathetic for 343 to rip off Bungie while trying to put their own spin on Halo.
I am all for Halo to try new things to keep it fresh but this smells like gimmicky crap, when I want to play multiplayer I just want to be able to select the option from the menu and not have to fuck around with "social hubs" when they can't even enable proximity voice for fuck's sake
I can see this making a comeback with halo 7 especially if 343 decides to copy the helldivers 2 formula for a pve style mode.
Using the unsc eternity ofc
They had a Pve mode. All they need do is improve on it. Spartan Ops has so much potential.
Halo development since reach in a nutshell: “yeah we had some great ideas for this new game so let’s scrap em all and use only the worst ideas”
Pretty much 343I in a nutshell.

you're right about that, but the question is: will MS allow them to take their time?
SPOILERS: they won't
What makes you think they are even able to making another great Halo game ? This franchise died when Bungie left it.
I think at the end of the day, people still want classic Halo menus. H5s MP was exactly what it ahould havw been already. Its peak halo

This is really cool! Sad it never saw the light of day. Hopefully one day! Great investigation btw
I hope so too, and thank you very much Sam!
Halo has been such a mess and mismanaged so poorly. I don't understand how Microsoft enabled them to mess up so badly

I'm glad they dropped the hub idea. It's just a barrier between me and the gameplay.
The fact they had this and didn't follow through with it, and then had this EXACT SAME OPPORTUNITY with the Academy, and STILL didn't follow through with it… Breaks my heart man.
This would’ve made so much sense as a continuation of halo 4s concept of all multiplayer matches being training simulations
I think this is one of those ideas that might sounds cooler than it would be in practice
The higher ups at these publishers nowadays hate fun and want to turn down cool unique ideas for generic trends and esports compatibility.
because trends make money.
capitalism kills creativity and ruins everything, even video games
I remember this concept. Sounded really cool.
Great content bud! Looking forward to more of these.
Thanks Matt! I always appreciate your support, and more are coming
I'm happy that 343 didn't make a destiny style hub for halo 5. Game was already rough, and it would be been worse if you had to waste time running to 6 different places to open a lootbox and get a weapon skin
Take a drink every time this dude says “I confirmed…”
This guy is game theory 2.0
Wow what a huge compliment! Thank you
Totally makes sense, the way H4 "wargames" was layed out as all MP being a simulation, there's always been lots of concept art of the Infinity and the interior of it as well
I wish halo 5 got a proper pc port. Gotta do surgery on the h5 forge application on PC just to even run it.
it honestly needs to be added to steam as an individual game with everything from the original game rather than just the multiplayer like H5: Forge did
@HuntersWrath I honestly enjoyed the REQ system, getting random items was exciting, especially unlocking a legendary armor piece at a low level
Halo 5 had a pretty damn good multiplayer tbh
I love social hubs, I had good times in destiny and cod: ww2
Social hubs we're the big thing back then in AAA games, back then it was just a way to show off people buying MTX and opening lootboxes which was awful, Halo 5 would have been the same tbh

We need this in Halo 7

just do this on Live Fire or whatever it's called, it's all there already...
The main issue w Halo 5 was the campaign. The gameplay was the best in the series imo
Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh it was too different from what I play halo for.
@@LateNightHalo
That I can understand.
@HuntersWrath

@HuntersWrath Halo Infinite unfortunately is a dialled back version of Halo 5 IMO. I'll always prefer 5 to Infinite.
It wouldn't have really made the game any better though at the end of the day
So 343 shit the bed...again. imagine. My. Shock.
more hoops to jump before loading into multiplayer game, fewer clicks and faster the better. Thank god this not see the light of day :D
I swear if th'll cut cool idea again that make halo badass 😡 i dont care if the next halo game release a dacade from now just make it worth the wait and goty potentiel

common L by 343 and microsoft, always discarting the best ideas
Watch your mouth. It wasn’t destroyed
