The Hawaii one sounds very heavenly and ethereal. It's still performed today as the state song! It's so beautiful, but at the same time it's sad considering what happened to them. They're passionate for their islands and for their monarchs, as shown with the anthem mentioning to defend Kamehameha with a spear. Before Hawaii was annexed, there were sugar plantations owned by foreigners. The sugar trade was incredibly profitable, and people who owned the plantations were usually extremely wealthy. Then the US set a policy where goods only “outside” of the country, so as long as the goods were made in the US, there were no taxes on it. The wealthy businessmen that owned the plantations didn’t want to get taxed, so they devised some plots in order to overthrow Hawaii and annex it. With Hawaii annexed, they would no longer get taxed. The establishment of the sugar trade with the Hawaiian Islands created a situation of economic dependence and the indigenous Hawaiians were intuitively fearful of the sugar trade leading to annexation. In order to counter any sort of native resistance, the 1887 Bayonet Constitution was established by the Hawaiian League (also known as the Committee of Safety), stripping the Hawaiian King of his powers and effectively diminishing democracy in the Hawaiian Islands and the indigenous community. One of these businessmen who was part of the committee was Sanford B. Dole, whose cousin James Dole later founded the Hawaiian Pineapple Company that became the Dole corporation. Native resistance, led by Robert William Wilcox, attempted to set up a native republic in the stead of the imposed Bayonet Constitution. These efforts resulting in the creation of a US bill to cancel the islands privileged status in the sugar trade, plunging the islands into a depression.
When Queen Liliʻuokalani rejected the Bayonet Constitution, the Committee of Safety overthrew her and established a republic, with Sanford as its president from 1894 to 1898 when the US annexed it, and its first territorial governor from 1900 to 1903. Annexation was achieved due to the perceived threat of the Japanese. Waves of Japanese came to the islands in increasing numbers to work in the sugar trade. US military leaders feared potential Japanese occupation of the islands and created a strategic naval base in the center of the Pacific. Of course, the attack on Pearl Harbor happened, predicted by US Army General Billy Mitchell during a Pacific inspection tour in 1923, who is often regarded as the father of the US Air Force. Mitchell passed away in February 1936, over five years before the attack on Pearl Harbor happened. In 1946, Congress posthumously awarded Mitchell a special Congressional Medal of Honor
Also, Pedro II was an awesome emperor. He ruled Brazil from 1831 to 1889 (he was only around 6 when his father left him behind for Europe and became emperor, but he wouldn't officially assume full powers until age 14). He turned Brazil into an emerging power, distinguishing it from its neighbors by maintaining stability, freedom of speech, respect for civil rights (he pushed for slavery to be abolished despite opposition), vibrant economic growth, and a functional parliamentary monarchy. He loved to travel and learn from other countries. Innovations like trains and telegraph lines were introduced under Pedro II. He sponsored learning, culture, and sciences, winning him the respect of greats like Charles Darwin, Victor Hugo, and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. Brazil was also victorious in the Platine War, the Uruguayan War, and the Paraguayan War! He was overthrown in a military coup that established a Republic, he didn't stop it because he didn't like power, he worked too hard and thought it was time to rest (he also abhorred luxury).

Hawaiʻi Ponoʻī was the anthem of the kingdom from 1876 to 1893, and then the Republic of Hawaii from 1894 to 1898. After US annexation, it became the territorial anthem and was adopted as a state symbol in 1967. Because of its status and Hawaiian pride, it's commonly sung in Hawaiian schools and after the US anthem in sporting events. The words were written in 1874 by King David Kalākaua with music composed by Captain Henri Berger, then the king's royal bandmaster. It replaced an anthem composed by Queen Liliʻuokalani herself called He Mele Lāhui Hawaiʻi or Song of the Hawaiian Nation (originally adopted in 1866). Her song was created at the request of Kamehameha V who wanted to replace the British anthem.
The lyrics in English for those wondering: Hawaii's own, Loyal to thy king be. Thine only ruling chief, Thy liege and lord. Royal father, Kamehameha! We shall defend, With the spear! Hawaii's own, Honor give to thy chiefs. Of kindred race are we, Younger descent. Royal father, Kamehameha! We shall defend, With the spear! Hawaii's own, People of this our land. Duty calls fealty, Guide in the right. Royal father, Kamehameha! We shall defend, With the spear!
Also, the reason the First Mexican Empire didn't last long: Establishing a monarchy was the initial goal for an independent Mexico, outlined in the Plan of Iguala, a political document drafted by Agustín de Iturbide that unified the forces fighting for independence from Spain. Following the signing of the Treaty of Córdoba by the last Spanish viceroy in September 1821, the plan for a Mexican monarchy advanced. Iturbide's popularity reached its peak in May 1822, when public demonstrations called for him to become emperor in the absence of a European royal willing to assume the throne. The Mexican Congress approved the proposal, and Iturbide was crowned in July that year. The empire's brief existence was marked by challenges, including disputes over its legitimacy, conflicts between the Congress and the emperor, and a bankrupt national treasury. In October 1822, Iturbide dissolved Congress and replaced it with the National Institutional Junta, composed of his supporters. However, by December of the same year, he began to lose the support of the Mexican Army, which rebelled in favor of restoring the Congress and its democratic powers. Unable to suppress the revolt, Iturbide reconvened the Congress in March 1823 and offered his abdication. Power was then transferred to a republican provisional government of 1823-1824, which abolished the monarchy and established the First Mexican Republic. In May, he went into exile in Europe but chose to return to Mexico in July 1824 because he feared for its future and that Spain would further attempt to retake it, and when he did return, he was arrested and executed.

The Brazilian Empire had two anthems. The first, the same one you listed in the video, was written by our first Emperor and was used until 1841, when Dom Pedro II became emperor at 14 yeras old and they composed a completely different anthem. Whereas the first hymn talked about freeing Brazil from colonial chains, the second one exalted the person of the monarch.
Today, the Anthem of the Republic of Brazil shares the same melody with the second Imperial Anthem, albeit they obviously erased the monarchical tendencies of the lyrics to suit their Positivist ideas.

Gran Colombia anthem feels like background soundtrack for some old classic cartoons. "Freedom or death" is a very bold line in God Save the South, considering....the South's economy was built predominantly on slavery. The Ottoman one sounds kinda goofy like the background music of an evil villain revealing his dastardly devilish plan 💀It always sounds like it's about to stop but it doesn't. And I like that the Kingdom of France one is literally about the king, girls and wine 😂so perfectly French. Cup of Solid Gold is such a badass name for an anthem. Cup of Solid Gold only became the official anthem of the Qing Dynasty on October 4, 1911, but was relinquished in February 1912 when Empress Dowager Longyu abdicated the Qing throne on behalf of six-year-old Puyi, so the anthem didn't actually last that long! It was the first official anthem of China, though Pu Tian Yue is often viewed as the first, but it was not approved officially by the Qing. The golden cup was a ritual instrument that symbolized the empire, first used by Emperor Qianlong to wish for the solidification of political power and the country's development and prosperity. So the anthem is about the stability of said cup. Ironically, six days after it was adopted, the Wuchang Uprising happened, beginning the Xinhai Revolution that ended the dynasty.
While the First Mexican Empire didn't last long, its anthem is far older! It was written by Rabanus Maurus, a ninth-century German monk, teacher, archbishop, and saint. When the original Latin text is used, it is normally sung to a Gregorian Chant tune first known from Kempten Abbey around the year 1000! As an invocation of the Holy Spirit, Veni Creator Spiritus is sung in the Catholic Church during liturgical celebrations on the feast of Pentecost, at both Terce and Vespers. And an interesting fact about the Federal Republic of Central America is its flag was inspired by Argentina's! In 1818, the Argentines sent a two-ship expedition led by French-Argentine sailor Hipólito Bouchard to Monterey in what's now the US state of California as part of their war for independence by countering the Spanish at their own game. After an attack failed, they made it on land the next day and the Spanish forces were no match as after an hour of combat with ineffective defense of a fort, the Argentines won. For six days, an Argentine flag was raised over Monterey, then capital of Alta California! After raiding Monterey, he plundered Mission San Juan Capistrano in what's now Orange County. Toward the end of the voyage, Bouchard raided Spanish ports in Central America and raised the flag there as well, and Central Americans would see that flag and view it as their liberated flag, so they took it as an inspiration for their own flag, the former Federal Republic/United Provinces of Central America flag, which in turn influenced the flags of Guatemala, Costa Rica (though Costa Rica added a big red stripe after being inspired by the French in a French revolution in 1848), Honduras, El Salvador, and Nicaragua!

Fun Fact: idk why I’m bringing this up but the Chicago cubs won their first World Series in 1922…when the Ottoman Empire still existed. Literally the moray random thing I just realized.

That fun fact can't be true because between 1908 and 2016, the Cubs didn't win a World Series. However, their 1908 World Series win did happen when the Ottoman Empire was still around

The Kingdom of Araucania and Patagonia. A country in South America that was founded by a Frenchman, Antoine de Tounen in the 19th Century. The local Mapuche Amerindians recognized him as their king. It existed unofficially and was not formally recognized by any other country. Its 2 neighbors, Argentina and Chile, claimed the region and made sure the new country didn't continue to exist in any capacity. It had its own flag, anthem, and there are people in Europe who still lay claim to the royal throne to this day.
