That restoration kit idea for the MK1 MR2 would be great. I have an 88 MR2 that i been hasten to get around due to not knowing much about cars and finding the parts needed for the restoration. great videos so far. A tutorial model videos would be great for this car. I cannot find any videos on this car. I need to replace the starter to begin with. I would also like to replace most of the hoses.
That's my plan! Need the income from TH-cam though. Haha. It'll help dramatically with my plans. I'm glad I can help. I'm gonna try my best to make more tutorials.
Big fan of the video, would have loved it if you showed a bit more how the engine hoist is mounted to the engine as well as which bolts are needed to actually unbolt the engine from the chassis
Yeah sorry about that. I used an engine leveler on the hoist and hooked the chains to the hooks on either side of the head. Then there is 4 mounts that hold the engine and transmission in, one on the transmission and 3 on the engine, on bolt goes through each of them. Once you remove the transmission it's a lot easier to get the engine out.
I'll be pulling my engine on my 1988 MR2 so this video was very helpful. It would be very helpful if you were to share where you are getting your parts for this project. I specifically need a harmonic balancer, mine apparently has slipped according to my mechanic. Also can you share where to get the C50 / C52 transmissions overhauled, and are parts available for this? So many questions........
I'm glad you're enjoying them! I'm going to be making more soon! And The transmissions you may have to buy the parts and overhaul them yourself if you can find them. Harmonic balancer you may have to go with an aftermarket one, for example Techno Toy Tuning has good ones.
Thankfully not too bad, you have the starter which can be a pain, the axles, shifter cables and not too many bolts that attach the transmission to the engine.
I appreciate the reply, sadly after further inspection looks like the head gasket is also bad. Think it be better to do what you did on the video series. One more question. Do the bolts that hold the axles to the gear box are fitted bolts? Thanks
Sad day. Definitely make sure to get the the deck checked and the head checked. I would upgrade to a TRD head gasket as well. What do you mean by fitted bolts?
@@ivgarage Who ever works on it before may have loose the original bolts and just put 1/4 bolts they came loose and the whole car felt like it was going to come apart. I am helping a young guy this is his first car and I want help him fix it properly I don't want the car to fall apart on him. Thanks
Good stuff I just picked up an 87’ AW11 that I’ve seen parked for five years. N/A and auto but with a T-top and rock bottom price I couldn’t say no. I have someone that can recreate MR2 parts. I’m a content creator as well channel: YouOnlyLIVETwice

Understandable. They don't have any sort of loctite or anything on them. I'd say go to a Hardware store and get some replacements
Nice video man! Keep on
Thank you! I definitely will!
