    that "clutch" is actually just another brake, so you can left foot brake if you want. the button on your tilt lever will auto tilt the forks to level. that last lever is supposed to move your forks closer and farther apart, some trucks have it, some don't. forklifts are fun things to drive, but some people don't understand that they are heavy machinery, very easy to hurt or kill with them

      The extra lever lever can also be for a attachment such as a clamp. Not many basic forklifts have the self spacing forks.You usually find that on larger lifts.

      I wish our forklifts had forks that were controlled that way. I have to do that trick were you leave one fork unlocked and the other locked and then you slam the forks on the ground and then shift the mast to move the other fork over.

      The clutch is an actual clutch, that when pressed all the way, does also press the brake.

    I've only been on a forklift for around 3 months. The company that hired me didn't mind that I had no experience and expected me to learn from the people already there which made my first few days very daunting. My first day working they had me on the forklift just to practice, I work at a block yard so my whole job is based around using the forklift to load customers. My tip to new drivers is not to be very nervous and understand it will take some time to be comfortable with the forklift. Don't be shy to the forklift like I was, my first week I tried my best to avoid having to use it. (That means walking around the whole six-acre yard to stack heavy ass bricks / pavers / flagstone for orders and such) This made my job at first a living hell as everyday I was doing a lot of manual labor that could be made a lot easier if I was on a forklift. The clutch can be used or be completely avoided, I tend to use it more than not. I use it when I need to lift my forks as fast as possible, just hit the clutch and the gas and up it goes. If you do this while you are in forward or reverse make sure you let off the GAS first then the clutch, otherwise if you do the opposite once you let off the clutch you will shoot off in the direction the forklift is set. This video is great as it shows that everyone is not instantly a pro at using the forklift and everyone starts from somewhere. Just give it your all, be safe, and make sure to ask questions if needed.

    The clutch disengages drive and applies brake for faster fork movement with the gas pedal. That button is to be pressed while tilting foreward to stop them at a level position rather than tilting all the way down. Good info, happy you said you didn’t know what they did rather than make something up.

    The second brake pedal is what is called an "inching brake" it acts as a brake and disengages the transmission so you can slow down the forklift while increasing or decreasing the engine RPM's to raise or lower the forks. : )

For the “clutch” I’ve always used it for when I’m approaching where I have to give it gas to lift a load quickly without completely stopping, the left pedal just makes it so you don’t go forward if you step on the gas

    Regarding the 4 levers.
    As "standard" equipment a forklift only have 2 levers - 1 to raise the forks up and down and 1 to tilt the forks up or down. The others are "optional". The third is normally to move the forks left or right and then the 4th could be used for any number of attachments i.e. rotator, push-pull unit, clamp etc.

    The button on your tilt lever makes the forks level out. So if you are tilted all the way back you press that button and press the lever forward and it will stop tilting forward once it reaches level.

    lowering the forks doesn't go faster if you rev it, it's gravity operated. It only uses pressure to go up, all over functions (tilt/sideshift/other) can usually be sped up by using the accelerator. I use all 3 pedals all the time, I use the inching pedal mainly like a clutch, to keep it in gear and use the hydraulics without lurching forwards. I use the brake if i want to slow down and don't need to operate the hydraulics

    It's a tool not a toy.
    A guy at a warehouse I was at made the same mistake of thinking a fork lift is a toy and would race around and do sharp turns.
    He completely disregarded a fork lift as heavy machinery with two forks. In the end, he took out a co workers leg that it had to be amputated. The young man was in his early 20s, and was made an amputee by someone who referred to a forklift as a toy. Food for thought.

    I just got my forklift certification online recently. You talked about that a fuel tank on the back is propane. But for my online training spoke of only one type of fuel that is very cold and that you have to use gloves when you're changing it out and that's LPG or liquid petroleum gas.
    Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think they keep propane cold like that.... Not as far as what my training explained on the national forklift foundation website

    • @bachpig
      @bachpig 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      LPG is a blanket term for propane and butane. When the gas is used, the gas pressure in the can decreases so the temperature decreases. It has nothing to do with what type of gas it contains.

  • @krakowolkusz7941
    @krakowolkusz7941 ปีที่แล้ว

    do NOT play with the 4th leaver... please XD if it doesnt do anything then u are pumping hydraulic fluid into a closed line... there are basicly 4 ways the forks can move... up/down, tilt and iterchangable spreading of the forks or moving them side to side, i worked on ones with either configuration. But like i said if u use a leaver and u hear the pump working and nothing happenes, then its not conected and using this leaver will cut the life of the pump drasticly. Take care :)

      Hey brother. All I did to get this opportunity was to find a job at a flooring company warehouse. I was actually hired to be their tool repair technician. One day one of the managers was taking a bunch of guys out of the area on a delivery. I had most of the tools repaired so he said while he was gone to spend some time driving the forklift to get a feel for how it worked. No one was at the shop so I had no concern about someone being in danger. And there was a large area in the back of the shop for me to get comfortable with the way the fork lift handles.
