    Howdy from Texas, I just found your channel last night watched several of your MiG pulse videos and let me tell you my friend. I’ve been welding for 10+ yrs pipe, structural, some fab ect…. 99 % of these people giving you a hard time have never welding while manually turning pipe like you do!!! You are as slick a MIG welder/Fitter I’ve ever seen. To be able to lay down the kind a f welds you do while manually turning pipe without a rotisserie/positioner is unheard of to me. You are a MASTER! Thank you for the details and tips you give in all your videos I’m learning a lot from you. You KNOW what it is just keep practicing and you will be as good with the TIG whip as you are with that MIG whip. The best thing I like about you is your intellect and how you TAKE GREAT PRIDE in your work! Keep em coming your a hellava welder/Fabricator .

    Definitely a lot better this time! Your root and caps look a lot better, your welds look a lot cleaner too not as burnt, a lot more color. One thing I liked was you doing the pipe 5G, the reason I saw that is I noticed when your in-between dabs you take your filler metal out of your agron shielding. So it's the same if you took the gas away from the pipe quickly it will draw contamination to the metal, so in-between dabs try not to take the rod out of the argon shielding unless you absolutely half to until the filler metal isn't cherry hot anymore! Keep up the great work buddy!

      Sch. 10 I like to do at 60 amps. With a 1/8” gap. I cap at 85A after it cools down. A common misconception is that you don’t want to add too much heat but you also have to think of the duration you’ll be welding for compared to a slightly higher amperage at a good pace.

      @@aarondunne2932 procedure we use for sched 10 pipe where i work atm is 2mm to 4mm gap (depending on size of pipe) Obviously those tacks shrink a bit as the tacks cool. Purge (argon) then set a 10 to 15 litres per minute. 1.6mm filler, 80-90amps. Fast travel, filler into one side then pull it across the gap. Then same amperage to cap it off once cooled below 150°c interpass temperature.
      Works a treat👍

    If after welding stainless and youre out of sqaure, heres an example of how you can pull it back square. Say an elbow needs to pull one way or the other to be in square, run over (whether you add a little wire or just fuse over it) and meet both sides in the middle, then blow compressed air immediatetly after you finish running it over, it should pull it in the direction that you are trying to pull it. this is safe to do on stainless steel

    • @joons3374
      @joons3374 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I will answer my own comment, since a lot of time passed I got some new insights.
      I have just welded 1.5mm 12mm diameter pipe for a certificate, I must say it wasn't perfect, but some places looked nice (of course it was good enough for certificate, but I think now I could do better) although generally anything 2mm and lower can be welded in one pass, one pass usually accumulates more heat, best results would be to weld it once without adding filler rod and let it cool a bit. now when it is done I drop amperage a bit and weld a cap... what this does is the first pass is a great heat bridge, and since you do not need to penetrate now you can drop the amps a bit, if you waited on that pipe for around 10 minutes or less it is absolutely insane to weld the cap with the same amperage or higher.... if you cool it for longer you loose time and will have to weld with higher amps and faster...
      Have a nice day and feel free to criticize me.
      P.S. for something even thinner your machine minimal current setting may still me overkill, but I found that I can weld 0.7mm pipe by putting the machine on 25A and high frequency pulse... I do not know the frequency exactly as my machine doesn't display it but judging from the sound it was above 50Hz, perfect penetration, perfect cap, single pass, must be careful with supplying the rod..

Notice how the weld on the socket was shiny compared to the rest of your welds, that's because you cleaned it up after your plasma cutter. Clean your weld joints nicely before you tack and weld.

    • @matthijsb.9573
      @matthijsb.9573 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not true, pipes are darker cause they get less gas coverage than the socket weld because of the angle. SS Almost always turns out that way unless u get a bigger cup or run slower which isn't ideal for that diameter of pipe. Do agree that prepping is important though.

    On thin wall pipe ie 2mm no gap I pass and you don’t need filler rod it will be more than strong enough for the pipe pressure rating. You don’t need a big outlet on the purge dam either just enough so you don’t get pressure build up or it will blow the weld out . Good effort what you’ve produced there. Personally I wouldn’t use a plasma cutter either for small holes for a socket a step drill is easier and cleaner or a hole saw.

    @samwhite1823 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I'm no tig expert similar yourself (all stick in a lot of oil and gas), but it looks like you're getting too hot there dude. Stainless really can't hold the heat like mild especially on such thin wall.
    Ideally a little higher on the amps and move much faster, and don't be afraid to stop and let it cool.
    Socket not as cooked :-) it's just practice on those small diameters.
    As for the pulling, again don't be afraid to put on more tacks you'll be able to be more consistent if the gap isn't moving around.
    Keep it up mate!

  • @Wiking419
    @Wiking419 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Just take it easy and steady your hand.
    Stainless steel pulls hard, if you made gap and bevels you would've prevent too much distortion by small root welds in four places, e.g. the cross pattern, to make it easier for you. Practice makes perfect right, so use laywire not dabbing technique this way you will put less heat into ss. It's a mistake you rotate pipe like you've used to do when mig welding pipes, I mean, ofc you can but not after every 20 mm. Reason? Heat input and bad looking welds, possibility of porosity due to the poor torch angle while rotating. Do clean your pipes before welding.

  • @NOOne-im5vg

    Kemppi and fronius is one of the best Welding machines in the world. Kemppi is better at tig and fronius is better at mag welding. You do not need too ad filler wire when welding Thin stainless.
    You can use the puls setting on the machine if it got it an it is faster.
    When you back purge only use one big hole and do not use tape with a lot of holes in because some of the holes can change in size and then you do not get the same amount of purge every time.
    If you need too be 100% sure of your purge time then buy a oxygen measure meter and measure the purge gas.

      Lay wire is good on a fitting you can see in after rooting it but for field weld stuff in power, and chemical plants we always either back feed or key hole because you know for certainty it’s all tied in. Lay wire is just to risky when they X-ray everything and you can’t see the last quarter of the root.
