    @Kotaboy32 Tactical: Thank you for posting this. This has made a huge impact on my scoring. I am a 54 year old female - first year shooter, shooting IPSC, IDPA, and Steel Challenges. I ordered these glasses from Amazon after watching your video but didn’t use them until yesterday during an IPSC club match. The first three stages I was scoring at or near the bottom of the pack (of 11 otherwise experienced male IPSCers and 3 Gunners). For the last three stages I pulled out the glasses and suddenly I’m scoring in the top 4 to the middle of the pack, including a stage with a Texas star which I’ve never shot before. With my eyesight, the glasses force me to focus entirely on the front sight because everything beyond that is blurred, so I do have to switch glasses when not shooting, but from now on my “Cheater Glasses” are on my eyes anytime I’m on the firing line. Best tip I’ve ever gotten! Thanks!

    Thanks so much for doing this video!!! I'm a new shooter in my 50s. Most "gun" videos are just repeats of another person's gun opinion. No body talks about getting good eye sight beyond a rifle scope. Thanks again.

    This Old Fart from Pennsylvania would like to thank you for showing these glasses. I just got back from the eye doctor as well and she told me the power I needed. The glasses are available in the power I need and I like the style. Definitely a must have for doing those lower builds.

    mid-50's here, licensed conceal carry. Sometimes wearing progressive lenses, sometimes not. Had lots of trouble with standard Glock sights at the range after I was put into progressive lenses, so refitted my Glock 27 with Heinie Straight 8 sights, and they helped a lot. No telling what eyewear I'll have on when I need it.

    Thank you, thank you, thank you, from a fellow old fart, and veteran like yourself. I had the exact same problem. I saw the feedback on Amazon Prime, and everyone agrees that 1 step down from your regular reading glasses prescription is the magic number. My reading glasses are a 2.0, so I will order 1.5 for shooting glasses.

    Hilarious..i literally just purchased the same exact ones.. from Amazon last week.. 1.5 magnification.. you are 100% right.. its like a brand new day..i see my sights crystal clear!!.. anyone over 40 should get these!!!!

  • @wanderpump
    @wanderpump 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thank you very much. Been absolutely struggling, tried my regular reading glasses - 1.5, but feel they were too strong and just not cool. After encountering your video, before I finished watching it, opened up another tab and placed an order on amazon for a pair in 1.0. One day shipping too, to get them before scheduled 'Wall of Steel' practice this Saturday. Awesome. Really appreciate it.

    I looked on Amazon a few months ago for something like this but could only find bifocals. This is exactly what i was looking for. Placed my order as soon as I finished watching your video. Thanks!

    Cool beans, I normally wear 1.5 at the computer. Thinking of starting with the .5 to break that edge. worried the 1.0 will make too much light in this bright sunlight here in colorado.

    We have a bunch of those bi-focal safety glasses at work, I can only wear them for a second though. I just need extra magnification when looking for hairline cracks. That FN is gorgeous, I don't know what you paid but it was worth it!! That's one of those "holy grail" guns for sure. Looking forward to the review brother!!

  • @duradim1

    SSP Eyewear makes glasses designed for shooters. They have the bifocal at the top of the lens so you don't have to rear your head back as you need to do with traditional bifocals.

    I called Uvex, Elvex, Pyramex. All three large makers/distributors of safety glasses and goggles. I was hoping to find a pair of goggles or hybrid safety glasses with elastic that work like goggles that have a full lens magnification (diopter 1.0). No such luck. There is the model discussed in the video, and one from Pyramex that is similar, but no goggle like glasses which stay on in any position and keep almost all "junk" out of your eyes. My applications are construction, woodworking, automotive, and metal fabrication. I am amazed that no company has seen an opportunity to help older workers see better and protect their eyes as well. Yes I know I can get goggles to fit over magnifiers, but why the bulk and weight and hassle if not necessary? And yes I know I can order the above glasses and put a strap on them, but without hugging all around the eye, debris can and will enter.

      This is glorious, I been tryin to find out about "what does bifocal mean in glasses?" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Rayemiron Uncommunicative Release - (do a search on google ) ? It is a great exclusive product for discovering how to improve your eyesight naturally without the headache. Ive heard some awesome things about it and my work buddy got cool results with it.

    About your Shooting Glasses, their is a company called SSP Eyeware that makes glasses like that also. You can get Clear, Amber or Smoke Tinted lenses with replacement lenses. As a 55 year old shooter I feel your pain, I haven't purchased any of the glasses yet but they are on my to do list. The magnifying section is on the top of lens.

      Just bought a pair this week. The kit includes clear, amber and smoke and the case has storage pockets for the extra lenses. I bought 1.0 diopter in the top inside portion of the lenses. Very comfortable. $40 retail.

    Presbiopic or hyperopic olimpic pistol shooters just add +0.25 to +0.75 dipoter lenses in front of the shooting eye's prescription.

    • @kotaboy32

      I typically just wear the 1. 5 readers for reading but the 1. 0 magnifying safety glasses are perfect for just about everything in everyday use that's why you will see me wearing those and many many videos when I'm actually not on the Range

    That’s no different then a pair of +1 readers you can get at the dollar store. But it’s still going to affect your distance vision. it’s just like somebody who is nearsighted wearing glasses with a +1 diopter correction.
    The optometrist term for this is occupational. It’s a prescription halfway in between readers and distance vision glasses. It’s what people who sit at a computer most of the day would use.
    Again you can see the sights, but it’s not going to affect your distance vision so you still want mine to be able to see your target is sharply. There’s simply no way you can see both as you get older and presbyopic.

    Not sure what this guy is talking about. Does he own stock in the Glasses company? These are far from shooting glasses and cannot only be dangerous, but would only be effective if one is shooting a target a foot or less away. Here is EXACTLY what the manufacturer says: The Elvex RX-500 is a ballistic rated, full-lens magnifier in a lightweight, wraparound frame! The full-lens magnification increases the productivity of workers "WHO HAVE DIFFICULTY SEEING CLOSE WORK" while providing wraparound impact protection. The RX-500 delivers high performance and a higher level of protection for the user. The RX-500 is available in diopter strengths from +0.50 to +2.00. The RX-500 is ideal for welding, electrical AND "ANY STATIONARY CLOSE ASSEMBLY" applications above and in front of workers. Notice how they stress "CLOSE" If you want to see what I'm talking about, go to Sav-0n or Wal-mart and buy a simple pair of READING glasses because that is just what these are. Reading glasses built around a safety glass frame. Now ask yourself, "Would I shoot at targets, moving or not, with reading glasses on?" The smart and intelligent answer is NO. Then you surely would not shoot with these glasses. The description above in the video is completely inaccurate. Don't waste your money or time buying these unless you plan on shooting targets that are about the same distance you would hold a book to your Face to read it.

    • @TheDeerhunter42
      @TheDeerhunter42 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes he does know whAT has talking about. If you get a lower magnification YOU can see your sights and your target. So much for me i can see out to 50 + Yards talk about clear picture and I can see my shotgun bead. Its freaking awesome to see the target and my sights again. The trick is going lower on magnification. If you need 1.75 readers try .75 or 1.0 they even have them in .25 try it before you say it doesn't work. It works and works well.
