  • This is my third Rossi lever action carbine and it will be the last one that I buy. Why? Because I love the Rossi R92 and so does my son. Watch as we have a blast on the range testing this cool firearm.

My traveling gun is a 16 inchRossi 357 92. Legal everywhere , has no” evil features or restricted magazine. “ I have an 8 round cartridge cuff on the butt stock , so if a rapid reload is needed, top off the mag or throw one into the chamber. When using for home defense in upstate NY, load it with 9 38 157 fn, that will hit around 1050 -1100 fps. Keep factory 158 soft point 357 for outdoor use.

I used to have a Rossi Puma and carried it in the truck until I wore it out. It still would fire but something happened to it and I could not reload for it without problems. I loved that rifle. I now own another .357 rifle but it is a Ruger M77/357. It is also a wonderful rifle but a bolt action on which I put an old Weaver K2.5 scope. .357 is more cartridge than most people know.

That rifle in that chambering is an excellent truck rifle an ideal for at least three seasons and possibly also for hunting season. With 38 Special target loads for small game; shotshells for pests and dangerous reptiles; and, finally, hot loaded magnums for medium game and whitetail deer at closer rsnges, it could make an all around rifle especially when paired with a versatile revolver.

Thank you for your kind words and response! My son will soon be 23, and we are "best buddies", as he would call us that since the age 3. Interestingly, his name is "Mark", as I always was enamored by that name/character, from the "Rifleman" t.v. series. "Lucas", his father, as you know 😁, was tough, rough around the edges, extremely tall, a fine shot/marksman, and weathered hard by being a single dad, and ranch owner. He was often times hard/rough on his son, but as the series got very popular, he'd learn the hard way, that "tough/dry love" can do the opposite in the making of a "true man". "Lucas" learned that boys need tenderness, understanding, patience, compassion, structure based on love, and commendation often. Mark worshipped his "Pa", and knew that his Pa was forced to "grow up quick", swallow his feelings, move on after the death of his wife, hardened by his upbringing, and "cowboy up" as a single dad/man. But,... Mark often taught his Pa, vital life lessons, as a mere child, that Lucas recognized that everyone must adapt/change positively, for success and peace in the family. I'm not a perfect dad, by any means!, and I had a fair bit of "Lucas" in me 😔, but just like the t.v. "Mark", my "Mark" ( including my wife and daughter! 🤰🙆‍♀️) truly helped me evolve into a much better "man", than I ever would've been on my own. I apologize for my long dialogue dear Sir, but felt compelled to share my thoughts, feelings, and appreciation, for your personal videos you make with your son. I hope that the "Rifleman" correlation, helped convey my personalized sentiments of family bonds. As you also expressed, time is very fleeting, and so very precious! All the more reason to make memories, while we can, and do our up most, to make those memories, "good ones" 😊. - Paul A Trujillo.

@@paultrujillo9923 I loved watching The Rifleman when I was a young child and I wanted to grow up and shoot just like him. I'm not as fast as Lucas but I think I do pretty good. I also admired his relationship with his son and I honestly believe that is part of the reason I have a great relationship with my son. I know it sounds corny but the show really did have an impact on my life when I got older. Please tell your son Mark that I said hello. It sounds like he has a great father.

I've got a Rossi 92 in 454 Casull Mag and I'd highly recommend going that route. You can shoot 45 Colt but if you need a lot more power just insert 454 Casull. Had it for over ten years. Its in 20" barrel to squeeze as much fps out of it. Plus I like the balance/handling of the 20" barrel.. Just picked up a new Rossi 92 stainless .357 w/20". Beautiful rifle. The sights line perfectly when snap shooting. Its a rare thing for me when that happens.
Since I've got long arms I put a Tourbon leather recoil pad and that makes them perfect for carrying into brush. The 92 stainless was a 4 year quest so I'm one happy camper right now.

I'm definitely hot to trot for a 38 spl/357 mag lever action of some type. And the Rossi 38spl/357 mag blue finish you mentioned is certainly very reasonably priced. It also has excellent all around reviews. My only question would be how well your wife's Rossi cycles all types of manufactured ammo. The only reason I ask is one posted review claimed the Rossi was slightly finicky with certain ammo. But for whatever reason they didn't bother to elaborate on the matter. At all. Which is aggravating and basically negated their entire point of review. It's like someone telling you to be somewhere exact but not giving you an address or any directions to get there smh. With that lack of attention to detail their unspecified ammo cycling issues could very well be operator error. Anyway I appreciate your informed detailed post on the subject because I'm currently saving hard for my very first lever action. Should have one by summertime : )
Had the most amazing range time with my friends on Saturday. First time shooting since late fall, and still had some decent shot placement/groups. But now I got a serious fever that can't be cured by conventional medicine! The only cure possible will definitely require me to fill out and submit a Form 4473. You know how it is.

@@tonyducks1121 Thank you for a nice reply. I don't recall her 38/357 having any trouble digesting any of the 38/357 ammo we fed it, which would be 3 bullet weights and three overall lengths with each. The action was raspy, not smooth, and difficult to shoot from standing. I decided to shoot it a while before I got out my gun disassembly books and tried to stone the action parts. I was surprised to see all 6 loads land at 7 pm, just touching the point of aim at 25 yds. I have never fired a factory made round through it.

Pretty accurate gun around 100 meters with magnum loads. In Brazil I use it with a scout scope and with bore polishing and a trigger job, the 20" version give me 1-2 MOA. It also likes .38 spl loads around 1100 fps.

Great little rifle’ I have one I was gifted 20 yrs or so back by my wife’s grandfather’ I have put many a happy mile on it since then and it is still just as nice as the day it left the factory’ 180 hard cast lead for bear on down to .38 for small game’ accuracy is stellar and it puts deer down dead where they stand’ the .357 out of the longer barrel hits like thors hammer.

Nice video guys. I was inspired by your original Rossi92 video years ago to buy a little 16” 357, and I’ve had 3 or 4 variations since. About a year ago I noticed the current Rossi’s had upgraded walnut and polished blue so I picked up a 20” 44mag to pig hunt with. Like you I wasn’t crazy about the rear sight, so replaced it with the FlatTopRear Sight from StevesGunz. It has a small fine adjustment feature that really lets you fine tune your point of impact.

I posted my original Rossi 92 video more than 10 years ago and I'm glad it influenced you to buy 92. I wish I still had that first rifle. Thanks for the suggestion on the FlatTopRear Sight and I will take a look at it. Here is my Rossi 92 video that I posted a decade ago: th-cam.com/video/00Gz6FcY5Vg/w-d-xo.html

That looked like a lot of fun. Can't tell you the last time, I shot a lever action? One of my favorite types of rifles. The little 16 inch carbine, in .357 magnum, would be just perfect. Hopefully, one of these days, I'll be able to find one?

Once again a very fun video.
I love lever guns but can't afford or justify having a collection of them.
My solution is to reload for my Winchester 99 in 30-30 with varying loads and bullet sizes.
This allows me to shoot light to heavy recoil loads at very affordable prices.
PS, I added a Marbles Bullseye rear sight to my Model 99 and really like it.

Cool vid u guys! I really want a .357 levergun companion for my 6" stainless GP100. A lot of people may not be aware but you can push a .357 bullet pretty hard with that much barrel. You can get it pretty surprisingly close to 7.62x39 ballistics with the right load.

This is definitely on my short list, especially this brand, barrel length & furniture. I like the Citadel Tactical too, but it’s a little salty, also have a Marlin 30/30 with the Big Loop action: excellent for gloved hands in the winter here in NePa. A cautionary warning tho I found researching PCCs which you might want to look into- most hollow point defense rounds are designed for 4”- 6” barrel length pistols and start to open up (mushroom) in shorter lengths. It may be wiser & less expensive, in future regular shooting to swap out those hollow points for ordinary round ball range rounds. Do your own research & LMK what the verdict is? Awesome Shooter, Congratz on this final investment, always enjoy your banter with your #1 Son- both very skilled shooters! Adios

Really love my Rpssi R92 in .45 Colt 20 inch especially shooting as it is lighter than my Henrys. Most accurate open sight lever action I own. Nice that you found the shorter version with a Large Loop Lever. I have a Henry large loop Big Boy Carbine in .38/.357 however it is like 7.5 lbs or so making it a bit heavier than those nice light Rossis. MIssed picking up a Rossi R92 in .38/.357 in the past, but time to start looking again. Fun shooting. Thanks mixup98 & son.

Another great video boys! Ya' know, the fit and finish of a reliable firearm is forgivable when it can be counted on. I didn't re-blue my old lever action because I can be a superstitious ol' coot. The rifle is so comfortable, balanced and accurate I didn't want to jinx it. I take care of it, it looks and shoots great and that's what matters to me. Keep the videos comin' boys, I sure enjoy watching them.

My concern with 92s has always been the difficult disassembly/reassembly process. These have gone way up in price but probably one of the most affordable options.

  • @georgeplimpton9429
    @georgeplimpton9429 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I have the R92, but with the 20 inch barrel. LOVE IT. Also, the barrel and receiver are silver color. Absolutely BEAUTIFUL. Shoots great too. I only use 38 special, just because it's cheaper, no problems with it feeding unless I short-stroke it. I replaced the buckhorn sites with peep hole sites, MUCH better, but it was dead accurate right out of the box.
