Celebrated artists perform chamber music from Baroque to contemporary in the intimate and sumptuous surroundings of J. Pierpont Morgan's Library.
Carion Wind Quintet
The innovative Danish-Latvian wind ensemble performs works by composers from Liszt to Ligeti.
György Ligeti, Six Bagatelles for Wind Quintet
Stravinsky, Suite No. 2
Shostakovich, "Theatre Suite"
Jacques Ibert, Trois pièces brèves
Liszt, Grande études de Paganini, No. 6
A great program and great musicianship but what especially sets the Carions apart is the extra effort they put into memorizing their parts. Not only does that allow an extra degree of internal communication but it makes possible their choreography which in addition to being visually interesting illustrates how the music itself is organized.
There will be nothing like this in NYC for a long time. I belong to the Morgan it was the highlight of my life when I used to visit back in the 1980s. I enjoy their ancient Sumerian stone Scrolls over 1000.
👍✌ Absolutely Outstanding ✌👍 and so needed these days. Thank you so much. 😁
Wonderful performance!
WOW! Beautiful playing, and the most visually engaged I have probably ever been for a chamber concert. Bravi!!
What a treat here in Chicago to see and hear this. I really miss my regular visits to the Morgan Library.
Really nice. Beautiful performance and I especially love their inventive choreography :))
