Motya Mer, it is a woodwind quintet, with only one horn (on the right. Going left from her, Bassoon, Clarinet, Oboe, and Flute. The Horn is the oddball, being the only member of the Woodwind Quintet which is technically not a woodwind (it is a brass instrument with a cup mouthpiece, where the woodwind instruments were, historically, made from wood. The Clarinet, Oboe, and Bassoon use reeds, the Flute, just an “embouchure hole”.

@@hannahreid1549 Yeah, pretty much. Some people don't get that saxophones are relatively young instruments, so in the time period where these woodwind ensembles were popular among composers, there was no alto saxophone to fill in the "alto" voicing. Therefore, they had to write in a horn instead and call it a "Wind quintet" for that reason.

This Quintet is outstandingly rehearsed, many overlook the timing & intimacy in the phasing. The timing, spot on, interplay with a solo brass, spot on. What hit me, was from right to left, the fills near the conclusion, each instrument spoke. Mind you, I just happened upon this, I was blown away. I was into Classical at an early age

Fine playing of an arrangement that mostly captures Jupiter's musical content.
I played oboe in a quintet for a number of years. Many people do not realize how physically demanding chamber music is! You have far fewer rests than when playing in an orchestra, and every note is going to be heard, including the clams! That these players make it look easy is credit to countless hours of practice and rehearsal plus native talent and hard-won endurance.

This is one of the coolest sounding ensembles I’ve ever heard! Perfect combination of instruments! John Williams would give you his two handed thumbs up 👍 👍 approval!!

Beautiful! Just stumbled upon this. I hesitate when I see arrangements away from the original intent as they tend to deny the physical richness of the sound. However, this one brings out all the goosebumps and joy. Thank you for sharing.

I’ve been learning the classical guitar since 2009 and I love a guitar and string quintet. I understand strings, Recently, I’ve started trying to write for orchestra and was looking up what works with woodwinds and I think I’ve found a new favorite group of instruments

Amazing performance! I sometimes have times where I don't listen to classical in a long time. I get very irrational and I think I'll lose my passion and love for it. But things like this that make my ears crave, my back shiver, and smiles crack on my lips remind me why I fell in love with music in the first place. Thank you so much
