This was just fabulous, the best I've heard, & I wore the grooves off the old record 40 years ago. The staging is a fantastic idea, captivating, even adds insight to the musical structure. Above all, Nielsen showing off one brilliant musical idea after another, rare to see so much in one piece.

glad you like it! it is an argument the clarinetist and bassoonist is having there, our performance style allows us to do it for real on stage. We are glad you find it effective as well.

I performed this many times when I was younger and much more active as a performing bassoonist and chamber musician. I never get tired of this piece....one of the most enchanting compositions for woodwinds! Thanks for such an invigorating and beautiful performance!

What a masterful quintet by one of my favorite composers in a performance full of nuance, personality and the quirkiness of later Nielsen in all it's glory.

I come back to this vibrant piece having realized that Nielsen's music has become the center of my listening, finding it challenging me to rethink how I understand it and what it means to my valuing other composers I keep returning to, among them Aaron Copland and John Adams.

A masterpiece of a work, and I have never heard it performed better. Ravishing sound by all. LOve the oboist's sound and playing, but you are all so good. The flute player has made me love and appreciate the flute again

Love this quintet, love this performance. Not being confined to a chair and interacting with each other adds a whole new dimension. As a bassoonist it is nice not to see all the fiddling around with reeds. Great memorization! I ejoy all of your postings. Keep up the good work!

Yes very enjoyable rendition - in the dramatising of the performance one really gets the dual sense of what Nielsen achieved in this musical piece, i.e., conveying both the personality of the instruments and his friends, in this form of musical impressionism he was similar to Elgar in his Enigma Variations - on top of this I am fascinated by the reception of the work - here I mean the feeling of acoustic space - the Gestalt of music - and this seems very tricky, to get the right calibration between the performers - this can be corrected in a recording - but live it always presents a problem - the danger that the wrong instrument will dominate - happily in this musical narrative everything succeeds - and yes it is a marvellous performance and production.
