The new remaster for Switch/PS4/PC definitely looks better, but the 3DS version is surprising considering the limitations of the handheld, Capcom really pulled out all the stops here, not only is it one of the most beautiful games on the console, I would even say which is prettier than some Switch games like the Pokémon games.
Capcom, platinum and atlus are the only third party i know who did really good on nintendo's limited system, they somehow managed to make a good looking game on switch
The 3ds wasn't THAT limited. It was as powerful as the (first gen)Wii, just one generation Back at the time. Which is why it was so confusing that, aside from The Remaster of Ocarina Of Time, and a select few others, The system never got ports of best-selling Games from the GameCube and Early Wii Eras... it was capable of playing them rather easily.(while the Wii exclusive titles would have had some issues, with a few exceptions, The gamecube Titles would have played well.) But it's only now, near the end of the Switch's life cycle, that GameCube remasters and ports are appearing, and those are few and far between.(also, an Xbox360/1, ps3/4, 3DS, and wii-u title later this year.) But yeah. It wasn't THAT lacking in power. I loved my 3ds, And MHStories was among my favorite games on it... the only MH title I could actually play, at the time. (I have a habit of looking for demos, and the monster hunter 3 demo, with that damned lagombi and its fleeing the area and Auto-healing back to full, really put me off the series for a while. Stories demo however, really got me into it... and now i have played and enjoyed World and rise...)
I'm actually surprised they couldn't maintain 60fps on Switch here. When Monster Hunter Generations came to Switch they put it at a nailed 60fps running at 1080p.
@@MoonSarito Bad optimization, Generations Ultimate was an Switch exclusive, so was planned with the limitations in mind, this game is in every console and pc so yeah, maybe they will launch a 30 fps patch or a patch that make the draw distance a little bit worse, that is why it runs so poorly in my opinion.
@@MoonSaritoYou might want to check what you said there. Generations Ultimate is locked to 30fps and it's not really stable with inconsistent frame pacing.
This isn't necessarily true. No matter how good the new console is the game might perform the same. We don't know how the next system will do backwards compatability, it might emulate the Switch's specs and clockspeeds 1:1 which would mean inconsistent performance still - maybe slightly better
I have a feeling this is a game I'll be getting on PC instead. I think it will be a great candidate for my Legion Go. And there I doubt hitting 60 even at that machine's native 1600p will be an issue... I sort of made the mistake of getting Rise and Stories 2 on Switch before getting the Legion Go. So I have both of those games on both platforms. But I doubt I'll actually ever play them on Switch now.
>NEW SWITCH GAME! >it's a 3DS game... but honestly it did need a graphical upgrade. I always wanted a clear view Navirou waddling towards you after walking too far. But, also honestly, the mobile version gave me that already
Nintendo should do a remaster like this with the 2 Zeldas, Kid Icarus Upsring and Metroid all stuck on the N3DS. Fans should campaign for remasters of these games.
Also, I would not call that texture overhaul "light" in any way. From what I've seen, they greatly enhanced ever single texture, that's far from "light". =D
If you're riding you can collect items without having to stop, poogie rewards are automatically obtained instead of you having to pick up the reward after finding the poogie, and your health automatically gets fully healed upon entering a hub instead of needing to sleep. The story required expedition comes back immediately instead of making you wait 20 mins, and if you have a subquest for a certain monster accepted a blue icon will appear by their health bar to let you know. These are all the QOL updates I've noticed so far
its mindboggling that a 3ds game that had a 240p resolution can't run at 60fps. Valve must have wizards on their team cuz they got Portal 1+2 running on switch at 1080p at a locked 60fps from xbox 360's 720p sub 30fps.
@@astrarobotica Yeah, I agree. I've played the Switch port for 30+ hours and haven't noticed any visible stuttering. Maybe if you're looking for it you'd notice it, but I don't think the average person is going to be bothered by this at all? (And I want to clarify that I get the occasional migraine with visual disturbance, so I'm not even sure I'm the 'average person' here haha.)
Ok so I recently just bought this game on steam and the frame rate is absolutely outrageous. Note that monster hunter world and other games like it work smoothly. So I was wondering if anyone has a reason why my frames won’t change no matter how much I change the settings
What are your specs? The game runs great for me, and I haven’t seen any reviews mention bad performance. If you can run World but not this that’s definitely a red flag for your pc.
Voice acting, higher framerate and resolution, achievements, etc. At least if you play on PC/Steam Deck. Plus all the content the western versions never got, so some new post game stuff and extra monsters.
Well, if the Switch 2 is backwards compatible, that 60fps should become locked. Let's hope it is, and that Capcom does not _force_ a 30fps cap and, if anything, adds a toggle between the two. =D
😂Sorry but there is no such thing as a locking tooth in 3ds. I've been playing on the 2ds for years and my first 3ds mh was mh monster story and they don't have that locking tooth that you supposedly show. I checked by watching your video with the 2ds in the same places and 0 locking teeth.
well hot damn if monster hunter stories could gracefully convert a 3ds to switch, then game freak should have done the same with pokemon. THEY SHOULD HAVE DONE IT RIGHT
Whoa, where did you come from? I haven’t seen this talking point since like, 2011 maybe? Wild. Framerate affects how smooth a game feels and looks. Like when you turn your camera, how choppy the rotation is, or how smooth animations or UI changes look. So it’s across the board important, not just for online games or fps games. If you’ve only played 30 fps games, like if you only own a Switch, you may not notice it immediately. It takes time for your eyes to adjust to the added frames. But once you start regularly experiencing higher fps you’ll start to notice how choppy lower frame rates look.
Can you pass the data from 3ds to switch? I read on google you Can but on Instagram someone said you Cant anymore! Please help! Not buying it if you cant honestly
Disappointing that the frame rate isn't solid on Switch. I would get the MH Stories games on PC instead, which will be smoother, but that has a huge disadvantage: No physical copy of the game. I don't like the digital future of games and movies... I certainly hope Nintendo's next console will run this smoother, even if Capcom has to release a simple update to achieve that. Assuming the next console will run current Switch games. Make it happen, Nintendo...
Dumb then why the hell do you have a PC then. This is 2024 stop being a delusional caveman. Physical media does not have meaning like it did back in early generation 7 of gaming.
Uncapped frame rates is ridiculous. You have absolutely no control over anything on a console ffs I'll be playing it on my SD OLED anyways. PC is the only legitimate platform, especially for non exclusives I hope we get MH3/4U and Generations U next!
The Nintendo switch native 720p…. Sigh… I almost don’t want to buy any new switch games in case Switch 2 is not backwards compatible… I want to enjoy these games on a hand held console at 1080p resolution… Jesus..

Comparison to the mobile port on iOS and Android would be interesting.
The switch version is much better than the mobile ports I tell you.
I figured the port was likely based upon those versions
@louismontrose8966 yes it is,the game lacks QoL and it had a audio bug,not to mention there are a lot of monsties unavailable on mobile version.
it doesn't matter
Thanks for info, can’t wait to play this.
Did they give it Fast Forward for battle? Pretty sure mobile port got that
It’s also in the original 3ds release so it’s part of the core package.

I feel they are going to give us MH4U remaster or remake watch. They need to bring that game to the Switch with more new content.
Doubtful considering GU already exists.
